I'd argue it's better than any game on here with smooth combat, varied characters, unique art, great music, gory violence, a lot of content and variety.
I need to go back and try Charlie murder again. It’s been a while! Thanks for watching!
The list is missing Streets of Rage Remake, which set the golden standard for any modern beat'em up. SoR4 felt like a letdown since SoRR came almost 10 years before it and plays so much better.
Maybe I’ll cover that someday!
I agree with the list, except for one which is the take over. It’s the same exact boot leg of streets of Rage.
That’s what I thought too. I didn’t like the art style. But when I played it, it actually feels solid.
My favorite beat em up game is the power rangers movie for sega. Would be awesome if they made a new PR beat em up game and added 6 players so you can play with the whole squad.
There is a new power rangers beat up coming out! Look it up. Looks awesome!
@ClassicCo-op just saw it I'm hype thanks for letting me know
For me, Fight N Rage should be "NUMBER ONE"! It is low for the 8th rank. Second will be you got this right, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredders Revenge. Third, Streets Of Rage 4. Why I disagree that this one should be at rank 1? BECAUSE THEY OMITTED THE RUN MOVE! And Fourth River City Ransom: Underground and Fifth River City Girls 2!
Dragons crown is great with online multiplayer
I’ve only played local. I’m glad it has the feature though!
Tried final vandetta but man, u said this is modern list but that game is like modern release of an old game. It felt really old as if i'm playing a bootleg mame rom. Others are great but currently i'm enjoying alice escaped!.
Haven’t heard of Alice escaped. I’ll check it out.
Double dragon 4 is excellent and I literally believe it is more fun than streets of rage 4
Glad to hear another person loves this game!
can you put a date in the game titles?
Two weeks ago a new beat 'em up was released. Skinny & Franko: Fists Of Violence and I have to say- it's great. U must try to play :).
Haven’t even heard of that one! Thanks for the heads up!
I am playing it and it's brutal on any level.
@@SamuraiKensei276 And that, among other things, is beautiful there haha.
@@damiendalski4278 Beautiful it can be a beat'em up like either Street of Rage 4 or Brawler Mayhem, Skinny&Franko it is more like ruthless and bloody in a cool way imho. The only thing that I cannot beat is that god damn standing martial artist dude of the 3rd stage, it's so annoying geeez!
@@SamuraiKensei276 Haha this is the simplest mini boss. You walk over and hit him quickly with only your fist.
btw; Beat'em up like Street of Rage 4 have too archaic mechanics for me. Something like games from the 90's :).
Would you do a video about indie co-op games still in development? 👀
I’ll keep it in mind. Thanks for the idea!
The Takeover!!! 👍
Love that game!
I would also have entered, Jitsu Squad
I keep hearing it’s good! I need to play!
The takeover looks interesting ngl
It’s way better than I thought it would be!
@@ClassicCo-op I’m debating between that or streets of rage 4. It seems everyone here thinks that’s the best one lol
Ah Double dragon. I played the heck out of that.
I love most of the double dragon games!
Is the a reverse beat em up?
Like you're the boss level, you have limited resources to try to weaken there, then the hero challenge you, and you win if you just survived to scape to warn the other boos level, that the unstoppable heroes wiped out all your gang.
A beat em up where you’re the bad guys? That would be cool!
The last Battletoads did not get on the list... Nice presentation, sound and pretty fun... Also difficult but it's part of the experience.
I need to play it more. I do think it’s better than most people said.
Give it a serious try, I really enjoy the art, music, animations and hillarious conversations.
Beat em ups ....cool
What’s your favorite beat em up?
@@ClassicCo-op I would have to say Mario super Nintendo first ...then ninja turtles
I would like a next gen beat em up. All of them use retro graphics. The Takeover looked the closest to what im looking for. I wanna play it
Yeah, would be cool to see something new.
seeming that you mentioned modern, i think yakuza is a beat em up game its story heavy but its a beat em up at its core and also sifu, sifu is one of the best of modern beat em up game in my opinion
We just cover co-op games here, but I definitely need to play more yakuza! I loved Sifu.
Now we have another one game for this list - Double Dragon Gaiden: Rise Of The Dragons its number one
I still need to finish this game. I love what I played so far though!
The takeover is literally the most gorgeous beat them up and you say you don’t like the graphics but the eight bit is fine right?
Yeah, never been a fan of 2.5d visuals. Would much rather see sprite based for a 2d game. Glad you like it though!
Number 9 10:27 is looks more in the style of the 90s , it has my favor
as much as i love 2D beat em ups i wish there were more of them that were 3D, like Fighting Force. The only modern 3D beat em up i can think of is the Yakuza games but i dont know if they can be truly called beat em ups considering its not the combat is not necessarily the main focus of the game.
Ok, to be fair there are a few that could be considered beat em ups, like the Arkham games, or Sifu, or Sleeping Dogs, but somehow none of them have the same feel as Fighting Force to me :).
Yeah, I would like to see the evolution of the 3d beat em up. I don’t think there has been any amazing games in the genre yet. The next streets of rage is supposed to be 3d, so we’ll see how that goes!
Can’t wait for the new FINAL FIGHT !!! Hope it’s not 3d Models ! Would vastly prefer beautiful 2d like SOR4, or pixelated but smooth 60fps animation like shredder’s revenge
Is there a new final fight?!
@@ClassicCo-op Have you seen how heavy Mad Gears gang and other final fight characters are featured in street fighter 6 ??
They’re all over it, stages and everything else. I’d say that’s as good a cross-pollinating promo as can be had for a new Final Fight.
@@AyeYoYoYooo would love to see that! It’s gotta have the pixel art like Shredder’s Revenge, like you said.
Castle Crashers ❤
One of my favorites! That’s one of the games that got me back into gaming!
A bit of an obscure gem is Slaps and Beans, by Trinity Team. The game is by no means groundbreaking, but it's still lots of fun, and if you like Bud Spencer and Terence Hill movies, it's downright hilarious.
I have played that a little bit! I’ll have to revisit!
Personally, the best Beat 'Em Up game is “The Breakup Arena”.
Something tells me you might be biased 😉
anyone know 2010-ish 2D beat em up japanese game(idk it japanese or not, but it has anime/japan style looks), it has a lot of character, and each character has unique skill/moveset with combination of keys, i forgot the name, it can be played co-op multiplayer. and camera angle like side view perspective.
I’m stumped on this one. Do you know the console? Could it be the Guardian Heroes remake on 360?
@@ClassicCo-op i think its pc game, it has chibi-style character like final fantasy tactics
@@azwraithlance5159 could it be Phantom Breaker?
@@ClassicCo-op no its not phantom breaker, well yeah i think its unknown and unpopular game because i already search it in every beat em up game list for past 3 days and still cant find it
@@azwraithlance5159 Little Fighter 2? That’s my final guess 😅
Biggest SoR fan here: I’m playing the series since chapter 1 on Mega Drive. SoR4 is my favorite Beat’em Up ever!!!!
Agreed! One of my favorites!
How about a list of really good 3-D beat them ups like zombies revenge by Sega die hard arcade by Sega dynamite cup by Sega fighting force one and two the bouncer by square mortal Kombat special forces and Mortal Kombat, Shaolin, monks and Mortal Kombat mythologies subzero final fight street wise by Capcom Bruce Lee quest for the dragon among them many more
I did a video about 3d beat em ups a while ago. I included some of those you listed, but just the co-op ones because that’s our focus. I might do a follow up at some point!
Mother Russia bleeds could've been the biggest beat em up of the decade if they JUST ADDED ONLINE
Surprised they didn’t! Such a great game.
Was the intro video the great battle series? Have to admit.. some of the games played but their soundtrack is more memorable, including Sonic mania soundtrack.. wish power stone series, dynamite deka series, zombie revenge and outrun 2 make a return.. with or without the licensing..
Yeah, I think it was the great battle 2. Would be great to see all of those make a comeback! I think Power Stone would be a big success.
@@ClassicCo-op hopefully Capcom is listening to their fans with the resident evil remakes.. dino crisis remake will be something like RE 2...
Страхотни игри са, някои съм ги изиграл :)
Thanks for watching!
what about Midnight Fight Express?
Haven’t heard of that one. Looks great! Does it have co-op?
@@ClassicCo-op No Co-op but its an amazing little game
@@SGNJBROKENTHEATER I’ll check it out!
15:42 Isn't that just what standard localization is? Seems like a random inclusion. Anyways great list, will have to check some of these out!
Not necessarily. Some localizations keep Japanese names and references. An example of a heavy localization would be Pokemon when they changed rice balls to doughnuts because Americans couldn't understand that haha. Thanks for watching!
Final vendetta is Final Fight lookalike
Definitely heavily inspired by final fight. It’s really good though!
Streets of Rage 4 was a step in right direction ( not better than 2) Shredders Revenge was better but not better than Turtles in time , but Fight N Rage is just brilliant in my opinion 😎
Fight n rage needs more attention!
Fighti N rage Is the best game on the list but river city undeground is also godlike
@@StephoneYoung River City Underground is so underrated!
Please give us a New Final Fight❤️💪🏼
I know! That’d be great!
Really hope Final Fights cookin up....Paprium is the only one on here i didn't play thru
I know! Would be awesome!
@@ClassicCo-op I know man I’m fingers crossed… it’s still my fav. It needs a figure line too. Hope storm collectibles gets on that eventually… cap commando too
Also, I wish there was a port of combatribes in current gen.
This looks retro
Retro AF.
Guardian Heroes remake ?? hi from Venezuela !
That’s a great one!
And soon enough Metro Siege on Amiga 500.
Been keeping an eye on it! Can’t wait!
