I volunteered at animal shelters with dogs, where people would bring their pets back. Reasons like "I didn't think it would be this much work," or "it doesn't go with our new house." Like wtf? It's an animal, NOT a piece of furniture!! If you won't do it with a family member then don't do it with your dog/cat! And THINK before you adopt...can you really afford this animal both financially AND time wise? Be responsible, people. Please stop treating shelter pets like they're a pair of new shoes that can just casually be returned.
I adobted a dog when i already have a dog but the dog i adopted attacked my dog multiple times within the first 3 days so i had no choice to take it back cause my dog was scared to be in her own house
People are effing pathetic and selfish. I’ve been involved in animal welfare for 11 years and this is what I’ve learned. I’ve given up on the human race
I wish someone would discuss how hard it is to adopt. The process is tedious and the regulations are strict in some cases. And that's if you get a response.
Depends on where you go to adopt. But you have to understand not everyone can be trusted. And not everyone has the right home for a dog or cat. Keep trying. Your best bet is to go to a shelter or a rescue. Rescues are desperate for fosters. Do not for the love of God go to a breeder! Besides breeders will sell you a sick animal and lie about it and charge you up to $3000.
@@gmar7836 I only going to shelters and rescues. I understand not everyone can be trusted and the regulations and process are there for a reason. It would be nice if applicants could get a response from the shelter and also an interview. There are some first timers trying to do the right thing and are not given a chance.
I prefer grown dogs to puppies; I adopted my chihahua mix Penne when she was nearly four years old. A match made in heaven, if ever there was one. She gave me NO trouble--the same cannot always be said for humans. I had her put down when she ws nearly 15 due to age-related kidney problems.
No disrespect intended but I have never owned a pet and don't want to. Does SPCA realize that many people can hardly feed themselves , much less an animal? In fact many elderly and disabled retired people don't even have enough to pay for a place to live. That's why you may have trouble getting donations for animals. There were a group of people in my area collecting donations for SPCA They kept pressing me for money I am angry about that. I am on a fixed income
I think this happens because many Americans are extremely financially irresponsible, having little to no emergency fund. They may even lack emotional maturity and the ability to think ahead. To be surprised at how much work it actually takes is a pathetic excuse. Anyone who is this ignorant should be banned from having a pet. Just saying.
Get this straight to all you people who adopted during the pandemic: Pets are not electronic equipment! You don’t take them back to the shelter or dump them to the shelter!! Quit being selfish and stop thinking about your own needs. Domestic animals depend on us. If you cannot handle that kind of responsibility do not get a pet.
You can foster. If you foster the rescue will cover the vet bills and food. You’re just giving that dog or cat a home 😊. Rescues are desperate for fosters

Amen Renne. Spoke the truth
I prefer animals to most humans.
Copy that.
Same here. In my 11 years of animal advocacy I learned everything I need to know about people
😂😂

i tell you worlds is going crazy, this is their urgent news, 'all pets left behind:)'
And your point is? This is a serious problem,

I wish I could afford more pets. I can barely afford my matese terrier.
