  • In this video, we test out and install the Blagdon Clean Machine 10000 Pressure Filter System along with the Blagdon Amphibious Digital 3000 - 6000 lpr pump.
We have installed many different filter systems and our customer was elderly so she specifically needed something which was easy to clean. This was the most important thing that we needed to take into consideration.
The pond wasn't very big so the model we needed was the 10000. The fish stocks were also going to be low so we didn't need anything over the top.
    Hope you enjoy the video.

Hi all I purchased a blagdon 1200 pond pump had it 2week and has worked fine however as of today it’s become intermittent it turn on for 1min then off for 2min
I also have a blagdon amphibious iq that run on the same power feed. This runs completely fine through filter box and waterfall
I’m a little baffled any help appreciated
    Cheers

Thanks for this review. I'm looking at possibly replacing my Blagdon 3000 5 in 1 filter that came with my Blagon 330 litre pond for this set up as it's much easier to clean and less things taking up space within the pond. Would it be okay for my 330 litre pond or is it overkill?

Hi , I wish I could hire you to build me a nice pond similar to this one and put in an easy pump and filter, but I doubt very much that you would travel all the way to Southport in the North West for me. I have had a couple of quotes but I didn't like the way the pond would of been built . It was to be rocks all the way down to the bottom and then lots of gravel and small stones with plants going straight into the gravel. I know from watching you build ponds that this is not a good thing to do. Thank you for all of the information you bring to your audience. 🐟🐠🐡🐝🌻🌸🥀🦋🦎

Hi, thanks for your honest and informative review. Just one question, can I run the pond outlet pipe back directly in the pond, or would this risk creating a syphonic action and drain the filter rendering it ineffective? regards Ian

Great review. I'm considering switching from Laguna Pressure Max 6000 to a Blagdon set up.
Reason is, my use is non-standard and my results have been underwhelming to say the least!
I have a 440L aquarium inside a reptile vivarium, with turtles and a monitor lizard using the water, as well as fish.
I have tonnes of plants above the tank which constantly shed leaves and furnishings in the tank create dead spots even with 5000LPH from the pump and two power heads putting about 10k LPH extra in between them.
I've been driving myself mad trying to eliminate the dead spots and make it so my water is crystal clear.
I've changed the furniture, switched out the pump cage for a Y splitter and two short lengths of hose to enable them to be positioned where the flow causes waste to pass by.
Dead spots are much improved, but not completely solved.
I'm also still getting loads of fine particles in the water, despite having switched out some of the coarse foams and the biorock for 30ppi foam, so think that the filter isn't catching them.
I'm wondering if the CHI media might be better than 30ppi foam at this?
How bad is the water leak from the waste valve? Using inside my lounge this is a little concerning, although it would sit in a 40L bucket so if it's only losing a couple of hundred ML a day, it wouldn't be too bad to have to drain the bucket every couple of weeks.
Before looking at the Blagdon tonight, my plan was to upgrade to the 16500L Laguna, possibly with a move up from 5000LPH pump to 7600LPH. But with all the foams switched to 30ppi instead of just some of them.
Thoughts being that should catch more passing particles due to increased suction/flow and hopefully have a harder time getting back to the tank.
I've spent hundreds of pounds and dozens of hours tinkering with pipework and components trying to get this to work... Actually bought a 5k pump not realising that it's not compatible with 6k filter, so had to put a Y splitter to bypass some of the flow from filter, with outflow terminating in a bottle packed with foams to try and catch particles. Driving me insane, so want to solve this once and for all and then not to have to spend any more time or money on it! 😂
I should probably mention, aquarium is at floor level, so can't use conventional gravity fed aquarium filter.
Last question :) Do you know if the pod compartment has active water flow, or standing water with a little bit of outward flow? Wondering if I were to get it, whether it might be a good place to put Seachem Purigen.

Hi Pondsman - I’ve just bought & fitted an Oase Biosmart 16000 to my circa 500 gallon pond. It has an 11 watt UVC attached. For safety reasons I didn’t want to expose the uv light to my eyes, so I plugged it in to a unit that reads voltage & wattage. It read the wattage to be 37 watts - which surprised me. Could the ballast be adding to the 11 watt UV? Is there a safe way to see if the UV bulb is working outside its chamber?
Thanks for taking the time to enlighten us (no pun) with your well produced videos. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

These varipumps from blagdon are good but the new models are faulty all of them. Listen to the electrical sound even in your videos. And they are really weak pressure wise from the previous model. They have changed parts during pandemic and In doing so fucked what was a good vari pump. I tested the old with new one and the new one couldn’t reach my sieve filter even when on max. I tested various new ones all faulty even the bloke in the shop and was surprised. Blagdon customer service was shrug shoulders. Disappointed wouldn’t use them again.

Have you been able to verify that this filter is as effective as you hoped? As I require a new filter I looked on your shop web site with regard to purchasing one but there were no Blagdon Clean Pond Machine filters shown. Because of this I wondered if they had not proved as successful as hoped.

I've been researching pumps and filters for months now and had already purchased this Blagdon set so your excellent video just confirmed I made the right choice. I used a filter with sponges years ago and found it such a mess to clean out so hoping this chi media much easier. The pump seems great also with the ever so useful adjustable power selector. Feels very well made when I took it out the box. Cant wait to set it up. Thanks for the really helpful video. xx

I really love the fact that you do videos for the average person with small or wildlife ponds. So many just concentrate on ponds that are for the more well off and large ponds. So good on you for doing this!
Must admit, this set up looks really good for people who don't want or can't manage foams etc. I'd like to know how this set-up is doing after a good amount of time. ☺️🐟

Hi, was wondering if I could get some advice.
I'm really new to the pond game. The pond was set
up and yesterday I added two koi's to my tank
which are around 7 inches each. One is a sakuma
mix and one is an aoki tosai. My water temperature
is around 17-18 degrees. When I added them they
would run and try to hide behind the pipe of the
pond pump. When I leave they swim around the
pond (guessing they're shy). The problem I have
though is how long does it usually take till they're no
longer shy because I've noticed when I've put the
hukari food pellets they're not eating them either
and when I go towards the pond to see if they've
eaten them they hide again. Is this normal or do you
think there could be a problem? Is the water too
cold for them so their digestive system is slowing
down? Not sure what to do next to be honest.
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

    • @thep0ndman
      @thep0ndman  2 года назад +1

Hi. To be honest it would have been better to put in a few cheap gold fish to mature the filters for a few months and then add your koi. The worst thing you can do is feed too much, they water quality will deteriorate rapidly. There won’t be enough bacteria to break down the fishes toxic waste (ammonia). It may be a good idea to test for ammonia, nitrite, also you may need to do a few water changes to dilute it down. Feed very very sparing maybe once every three days, a few pellets each after cor a few months until the filter bacteria can catch up. Your local shop should have checked this with you before you bought the fish etc cheers hope all goes well
