Looks ace mate. Always good to see a filter that the manufacturer has put some thought and innovation into and this one is packed with both no doubt.

Are you using on an aquarium or a pond? How are you finding it working for removing fine particles?

I think pond filters are a good alternative for larger systems

That's a great looking filter and looks like it is robust.
Great video too - well done on that.

Good review. I've just added one of these to a goldfish tank which is about the size of a bath. The one I've got is the 13000 version. Only been on a week so far but seems to be doing a great job so far.

I'm considering using with an aquarium... Have been using 6000L Laguna filter on 400L aquarium for 3 years, but not performing as wanted. How does the CHI media fare at catching fine particles?

@@MostlyMonitorMad It would probably work but you would need a good pump on it as there isn't one built it.

@@ItsWhatIDo I've recently upgraded from 2200LPH Laguna submersible pond pump, to their 5k LPH model, so should be able to use one of those.
Are you still running the filter? If not, why not? I looked for follow up videos but couldn't find any.
I've currently got 30PPI foam as replacement for some of the Laguna coarse foams. Can never manage to clear all the fine particles from the tank so suspect some are expelled from the filter, hence wondering if the Blagdon is worth changing to.

@@MostlyMonitorMad Mine is still running fine. It's out doors and there isn't much happening because of the cold weather. The tank is crystal clear

@@ItsWhatIDo @ItsWhatIDo thanks for your responses.
My tank is inside a large reptile vivarium with huge amounts of leaves being shed constantly, and I've recently got turtles to add to the fish and monitor lizard in there, so want to make sure that I'veafe significant improvements to the filtration before the turtles get mature and become massively more messy.
Crystal clear sounds like it might do the trick... Would you say that the results are better for you than if you were just using fine foams in a filter (30ppi?)

Be great if that works, permanent filter media, no socks to clean

Did you ever upload follow up videos?
I found your video tonight as I was searching for reviews of the Blagdons... Already using Laguna 6000 pressure filter, but very underwhelmed with handling of fine particles, even with switching some of rhe coarse foams for 30ppi.
Wondering if the CHI media might be better at catching fine particles... My 440L tank is inside a large reptile vivarium where its constantly autumn thanks to all the plants overhanging, whcih break down in to tonnes of tony particles.

It's terrible, the plastic media is the worst I've ever seen, it is simply offcuts of other things.
The turning handle is just to allow the dirt to go through the yellow grid, you will find the bottom gets full of muck.
The more gimmicks they add to filters the more they break.
You can make your own far better and cheaper than you can buy, water in,through good media then water out, anything else is pointless

Thanks for your comment (ASFAIK the media isn't offcuts of other media)

It's CHI media but it isn't any good. I can see why people think it's offcuts .
