This is actually true for a particular scene. The snowman sequence was filmed just a few months ago so Ncuti had a year of experience being the Doctor and it shows with how much more confident he seems in the role. He's gonna be one of the best Doctors when it's all said and done.
@@MeleeHellBot it’s similar with how Matt did his first series. Eleventh Hour was filmed later after he settled. Believe the first filming was for the angel episodes because of Kingstons schedule. So he got to work in the performance there and shined in Eleventh Hour.
My favourite Doctor is Capaldi but I've always felt that Matt Smith did the best at introducing a new Doctor because he just immediately embodied the character in a way that felt different and yet so familiar. I'm getting this again now with Ncuti and I'm really looking forward to seeing what else he does with the role.
Somewhere between "Love you, now get out." and "I've just been snowmanned" for me. (Not as fast as Eccleston ("When I say run, run. Run." is where he had me) but it normally takes me until the end of the first full episode to be as on board with a Doctor as I was by around halfway through Church on Ruby Road)
Interesting. Nine truly had me only on his fifth or sixth episode, I think, (so, Dalek), Ten at his third (Tooth and Claw) and Smith at this seventh (Amy's choice). Oh, and I haven't watched Capaldi yet and have only seen most of the first Jodi's series (did not truly feel that she's the Doctor at any point, sadly).@@Stephen-Fox
He's been pretty up there in that regard for me too. I will say I loved Matt after about 2 minutes and he was my favourite after about 15 fifteen, but Ncuti had come the next closest in how quickly I've come to love him.
Ncuti and Millie did their singing bit actually live on the day itself that they were filming it, no lip syncing to pre recorded track etc. so they are both not just so talented but clearly putting their full heart and soul into it. Considering they are both actors not professional singers, I feel extra respect for them as not all in their shoes would have had the confidence or bravery to do that singing bit as they did.
@@SukruKaydak I suggest you watch the episode in question of Doctor Who Confidential which was shown after their debut episode. It was commented on during this that they both sang it live on set during filming. So not what I think, but what actually happened.
I'd love it if Mrs Flood is a Time Meddler - the original back in the Hartnell story who was a seemingly unimportant side character until he unintrusively identified that the Police Box was a TARDIS just by putting his ear to the door and then nodding and smiling. Of course, theories will abound.
@@cid7016 Remember Hartnell's Doctor said to Peter Butterworth's Monk "You're a Time Meddler!" So there's more than one that he knew existed who use time travel for their own meddling purposes. As I said though, it probably isn't, but the character has it's similarities.
Thing is, her attitude towards the Tardis changed, comparing it with before and after the Doctor's intervention to save baby Ruby. Almost as if something in that intervention made her realize what a Tardis is -- or alternatively, made her realize that the Police Box is a Tardis (which is kind of weird, for a being to reside on Earth, know what a Tardis is, but *not* consider the possibility that a Police Box suddenly appearing in 2023 is a Tardis. You'd think a being who recognizes Tardises would know that the most likely form it would take on Earth is a Police Box, since the only *regular* Tardis user on Earth is the Doctor)
@@ugolomb As Eleven explained to Amy: "Every time the TARDIS materializes in a new location within the first nanosecond of landing it analyzes its surroundings, calculates a 12-dimensional data map of everything within a thousand mile radius, and determines which outer shell would blend in best with the environment" In 1963, The Doctor's TARDIS' chameleon circuit got stuck as a Police Box, but it could be any Earth object. Thankfully, not a portacabin! When The Doctor tried to finally fix it, the TARDIS assumed the exterior shape hopelessly of a Hammond Organ and that was in a garage setting! The hapless Doctor could only despair and played the opening bars of the JS Bach's Toccata and Fugue. Susan said it had previously been a Sedan Chair. The Police Box isn't a given disguise for planet Earth. It would be more likely recognition from the disappearing and the noise it made and then later confirmation when it reappeared and she had made close inspection of it.
@@ugolombSo you mean like, if she was the one carrying the baby, so before he needed to jump back she had never seen one but now that he had showed up in the past she remembers. I'll be honest, my first thought was "Oh she was the one who dropped off the baby, and has been watching over her" I didn't expect people to think it was a mystery so I guess it wasn't as blatant as I thought they were being
He's only been in two episodes and already I have my favourite Ncuti moments, him dancing in the club and the scene with the policeman. Also I want a full musical episode. Plus you can really see the disney money.
I hope you do continue reacting to the new series. Your reactions are among my favorites. Obviously don't damage your mental well-being for it. If you need to take care of yourself, then definitely do so. But if you can keep reacting, I know I'll enjoy it and I'm sure others will too.
FYI: Davina McCall is a real TV presenter/personality here in the UK, so killing her with a Christmas tree (another recurring theme!) is a big deal. You may recall the Davina-droid back in _Bad Wolf_ in series 1.
Thanks as ever for a great reaction! As a (very) old fan, I've loved re-experiencing the show via your enthusiasm. The eleventh Doctor told Clara (or maybe Amy?) that he needed them in order to see the wonder again- a good reactor can be like that for some of us. I'm sorry to hear that this isn't always a joyful experience for you, if you need to take a break then seriously do so, Doctor Who and your audience will be here if and when you get back. Either way, thank you for helping an old British man see the wonder again.
I really think Ncuti is playing THE DOCTOR. The 9th Doctor told Rose he sang a song but THIS Doctor and Ruby both actually singing was fun to see. RTD is back, baby!!!
I hadn't even considered that it could be Ruby carrying herself. Now you've said it, I think that's totally possible! My guess for Mrs Flood is The Rani, who is well overdue for a comeback. As for you, Shayla, watching Doctor Who through your eyes has always been a joy. I hope you feel like carrying on, but you must always do what's best for you. Peace out, girl scout.
On the whole Mrs Flood thing I realised on a few rewatches that she didn’t recognise the Police Box as THE Tardis, but when she saw it dematerialise in front of her she knew it was A Tardis.
Exactly, it's my impression too that she knows what a Tardis is, but didn't realise that the one left on the pavement was the Doctor's Tardis until it dematerialised, her comments about not seeing a Police Box for over 50 years would be true if she had thought it was just a vintage real one, as they were phased out by the 70's.
That is an interesting detail, isn't it? Almost every theory for who she might be is someone who, if a decades-out-of-date police box appeared overnight in an awkward location outside their house, would assume TARDIS immediately.
Brilliant debut for Ncuti and Millie. I hope you continue reacting. You are one of my favourite reactors. But definetly do what's right for you. Roll on the new season.
Davina is a well known presenter and her cameo is based on a show she presents . Mrs Flood is Anita Dobson a soap star actress married to Brian May guitar player with Queen . Liked Ncuti and Millie , they look like a good team . Christmas specials are always a one off and this was fun . I enjoyed it and your reactions .
I usually go through a "I hate you" phase with all the new Doctors I feel like, but damn, I already love Ncuti. I've seen a lot of hate for the specials and stuff online, but honestly I've loved this..Ncuti isn't like my favorite Doctor or anything yet, but god I love the dude in the role..lol
Loved it! And I truly hope to see you react to Doctor Who in the future. But no pressure. The most important thing is to be in balance with oneself, so I'd love to see you react and wish you all the best for the new year! 😀
Really liked the episode, loving Ncuti as the Doctor, loving Millie as Ruby. There's an aesthetic to this one that feels different from last time RTD was running the show, and I don't think it's just the more fantastical feel of the episode thanks to Goblin sky pirates.
I love Ncuti's Doctor and Ruby already. Ruby herself reminds me of both Rose and Bill but with a sibling relationship wh The Doctor. RTD has really injected some life back into the show. Can't wait for more.
Mrs Flood is played by Anita, Lady May (born 29 April 1949), known as Anita Dobson, an English stage, film and television actress, and singer. You might know her husband as now Sir Brian May PhD in astrophysics, lead guitarist of Queen.
As I gazed up to observe the majesty of the night sky, a purple vault fretted with a million points of light, as the stars glistened like diamonds cast amidst black velvet, I watched in awe as the crescent moon ascended the horizon like an amber chariot across the zenith of the heavens toward the empty void of infinite space wherein the tethered belts of Jupiter, Mars and Saturn, they are forever festooned in their ultimate majesty. And as I gazed up to observe this majestic sight, I thought to myself, you know I really must put a roof on this lavatory. Les Dawson.
Great reaction Can't wait to see the rest of the season. Turns out there's a third mysterious twist lurking in the background in addition to Ruby's parentage and Ms. Flood.
Little Whovian Fun Fact: The scene with the Snowman's head falling off the building, it is the same building that was used in "Rose", Episode 1 of NuWho where Rose first met the Doctor. ALso, in the BBC version (non Disney+ Version) they have said a release of Nucti's first series being May 2024
10 made me like doctor who, 11 made me love it, 12 is my doctor but man 15 had me so quick! Him and ruby, I sense a new iconic duo on the horizon! Can’t wait for next season! Thanks for the vid let’s goooooooooo
One thing that made me do a double take was the credits at the end. I thought the voice of the goblin during the musical number was familiar and I was right in it being a youtuber I've followed for years. Ncuti is two episodes in and he's already shooting up to one of my favourite doctors. He just eats the screen up
I feel like there are definitely time shenanigans with Ruby's story. My best guess is that she's going to be meeting lots of versions of herself, and that Mrs. Flood is the old woman version of Ruby.
At the beginning Mrs Flood had no idea that the out of place, mysterious arrival of the old fashioned police box was a Tardis, or who had placed it there (she blamed her known neighbour). She seemed genuinely shocked when it 'magically' disappeared in front of her eyes. I think her name is a fun little missdirect. Being a neighbour who is interested in whats happening on the street, I think she has watched the Tardis and doctor come and go. The Doctor may have told her name of the old 'magic' police box. Maybe she followed him in, maybe he took her on a trip. Alternatively, maybe she is secretly Ruby's mum (who the doctor found).
We're back in a Davies/Moffat era (Moffat writing Boom for Season 1 on Disney+), nothing is ever just "throwaway" anymore as the past you felt at the time 😂
Right there with you with Mrs. Flood. Re-watching it made it seem like there was a lot more to it than I initially thought. Then I thought that she was sat there waiting. Then I remembered being warned about the one who waits by the toymaker.` Edit: Also, she's played by Anita Dobson who's a reasonably well-known TV actor here in the UK.
Another great reaction. Ncuti is wonderful, you're right. I was wondering if Miss Flood is Ruby as an old lady? Possibly, or maybe something more sinister - Missy? All the play for in 2024.
Two mystery women from the previous specials: a) the woman from Abu Dhabi who orders toys from Rose Noble (toys shaped like cybermen, daleks etc.). I'm not sure this one is a set-up for further narrative, but she could be; b) the woman who took the golden tooth with the Master inside it. Two mystery women from this episode: a) Ruby's mother; b) Mrs. Flood.
so this is actually taken from the Church on the Rock's Easter play. every year they do a Passion Play in one pop culture theme or another. one year they did the Avengers. this year they did Doctor Who. & the actual Dr Who did it too. I'm so confused.
I mean modern Doctor Who have traditionally done "Next Time" trailers at the start of the credits and occasional at the end of them. However for these specials at least the teaser has aired as it's own thing on BBC straight after and immediately gone up to RUclips as opposed to being stitched in with the episode.
(Posting this on New Year's Eve eve)...after letting this digest for a few days, I'll start by saying that I like this "happy-go-lucky" vibe to Ncuti's version of The Doctor. Millie has ARRIVED (as far as acting is concerned - I should note being here in the Midwest US that I haven't followed her exploits on "Coronation Street" -- extra side note, I only now have learned that my surname is HEAVILY featured in that show...GO FIGURE!). Going back to Past Shayla's introduction to the Doctor Who family (which doesn't seem THAT long ago) was that she mentioned how two actors having that "chemistry" to make the show work...Ncuti and Millie have THAT (which goes to show that RTD really knows what he's doing!) I think there was a tweek to the Star Wars fandom somewhere by making Jabba look very much like The Goblin King! 😉😉😉 Also, I love that everyone is gravitating to just WHO Mrs. Flood is....I can only put my suggestion out there (and this will be a two-part prediction)...1) Most people know that rivers flood...2) If the woman who left Ruby at the church IS Mrs. Flood (and she is an earlier incarnation of River, like I'm suggesting) and, with the exposition at the beginning of the episode, she IS Ruby's birth mother, that would (in theory) make Ruby the Doctor's granddaughter, quite possibly the first incarnation of Susan Foreman. Now how's THAT for a Classic Who plot twist! Looking forward to DISNEY+ Season One next spring...Goodbye 2023!
I adored this episode! All the main cast of characters were so lively and engaging, and this episode did a fantastic job of introducing them! And I love that they're embracing the cheesy ridiculousness that's always been a part of Doctor Who. I can already tell that this is going to be a very fun era of the show! There hasn't been a Doctor Who episode that's left me feeling this exhilarated in a while! Also, Millie Gibson is the first Doctor Who companion who's younger than me, and I gotta admit, it feels _weird._ Like, shit, does that mean I'm _old_ now?
Shayla the next time your air-conditioner goes on the fritz, or your washing machine blows up, or your video recorder conks out, before you call the repairman, turn on all the lights. Check all the closets and cupboards. Look under all the beds. 'Cause you never can tell. There just might be a gremlin in your house
There have been several sly references to the BBC drama "Eastenders" throughout "New Who" (especially regarding "Christmas in Walford") - and a very bizarre 1993 '"Children In Need" 'cross-over' filmed on the set of Eastenders... actress Anita Dobson who plays Mrs Flood was the central character, Angie Watts, in the BBC's best ever viewed Christmas broadcast of Eastenders. I feel like this was (in part at least) RTD's nod to that! It also feels like a slight tribute to producer Verity Lambert who helped pioneer both shows!
Pond - River - Flood. I don't think she's river but maybe a descendant. Maybe she's the child of River and the Doctor, who turns out to be Ruby's mother (making Ruby the Doctors granddaughter). Who knows, can't wait for the mystery to unravel.
Oooh.. been looking for your reaction! As always love your reaction. Ncuti... really shining here and fitting like a glove. Hope you get to catch the trailer! Lol Happy New Year for 2024!
Refreshing to have a doctor whos not going through "regeneration sickness" though i always kind wish they took care of a regeneration mid episode almost like we got last episode, then they could deal with all the sickness stuff then and just get a fresh start next episode. Instead Ncuti has just be all GOGOGO from the start and I kinda love it. Again not sure if Jodi was to blame for it taking longer to own the roll or if it was just bad writing or directing. I kinda feel like she just didnt have any passion for the role we had here there just to break boundaries. Like we got Jo Martin as the "Fugitive Doctor" where she was only the doctor for half an episode and she OWNED that role while Jodi still wasnt feeling very Doctory to me. To me Ncuti has just been the doctor from the second he got on screen.
id say its moreso the writing and direction of jodi, the 13th felt more contained and unsure of herself and closed off against other people, fearful of making friends and real family, but wanting so desperately to have one, that she kinda forced the formation of the fam. I personally think Jodi is a brilliant actor as ive seen her in other shows and she was good there, i truly think its all about what happened with her dialogues for me and the direction they took it. Massive props to Chibnall for being so chill despite the hate, and actually being able to produce something despite the deadlines and the drama.
That was Jodie who left the baby there- dont ask me how, no idea who baby Ruby is or Mrs Flood - but the lone woman was Jodie - you heard it here first... now please get a witness statement notarized giving me full credit because that puzzle wont be solved for a year or two.
I'm happy to take the Doctor's word for the fact that the woman who dropped baby Ruby off by the church was a) her mother and b) that noone ever found out who she was beyond that. I think that includes the audience. and I also hope, that they don't try to find her, because she made her decision and I think that should be respected. I'm sure it wasn't easy, so one should leave that poor woman alone. we live in a time where women are once again forced into motherhood. would be a weird thing to do for this show to go there and force Ruby's motherhood back on someone who clearly didn't want it. especially since she does have a mother who chose to be her parent and loves her dearly.
I think Mrs Flood is Ruby's mother 🤯 Don't ask me how or why but she was very supportive of Ruby throughout & for her to join 15 at the end. I wouldn't be surprised if the figure leaving the baby was a younger Anita Dobson as she has always been a petite figure of a woman..
A lot of people think that Mrs Flood might be The Master or The Rani, but just now thinking about how nice she was towards Ruby and the Doctor, I’m thinking she may even be River Song.
I kinda hope Mrs. Flood is the Rani. That would be so cool to see another timelord that isn't the master back. Also side note, I really want them to bring back Omega.
For anyone whose never had an experience with a London metropolitan police officer... That's not how the interaction would have played out with this regeneration, and that's sad :(
Sadly, I haven't been able to watch your reactions for quite a while. The last time I watched, your hair was longer. The reason I had to stop was because I couldn't afford to keep watching Doctor Who once Netflix stopped airing it (I think I only saw up until season 8). And I didn't want to only watch parts of episodes that I hadn't seen. Still, I will try to check your channel regularly and give it a like 👍
The musical reaction episode, where you Shayla sing [okay, hum] the Doctor Who theme again. Ok, not quite. Belated Merry Christmas, happy new year 2024, and - gotta say I'm liking Ncuti's Doctor.
theory i want to posit. these are something the likes of which the doctor has never seen. we don't get that often. is it a coincidence it happened so soon after he invoked a fey superstition at the edge of the universe where the walls are thin and anything can happen. did these goblins exist before he played that trick on the not-things?
I think Mavity is more than a running joke. Side universe? Alternate timeline? Cracks in reality? And the biggest question… will I ever get the goblin song out of my head?
You attempt to say your sign off and cut it off nearly every time now, very Shayla. 😜 Ncuti is the Doctor, Millie is Ruby, the chemistry is instantly there. The story with the goblins...okay it's Christmas, i guess it wasn't awful, just sounds ridiculous on the face of it - an upbeat song sung by goblins about eating babies! I will say it was fun in a ridiculous RTD way that I don't feel like Chris Chibnall's writing really ever was, so that's a major win. Overall, I really enjoyed it. The story threads of the identity of Ruby's Mum, and the identity of Mrs. Flood will definitely come back around. So I guess we'll see you in a few months hopefully. Hope you had a good Christmas and have a great New Year.
Could ruby be jenny daughter or ruby might be Susan biological granddaughter?I'd love to see harry Edward melling or ty peter tennnant play next doctor who after ncuti leave the show because they are grandchildren of peter davison and Patrick troughton?
Late to the party with this one, sorry about- SANTA HAT!!! YAAAAAAY!!! "He's Crying!" In his first scene... The therapy lasted about 20 seconds, huh? My little brother has a theory that Ruby herself delivers herself to the front door of the Church after she discovers her parents... But we'll have to wait and see! Literal Chaos Gremlins! Fun Fact: RTD got the big Disney Money and blew most of it on practical effects! WOO!!! Oh, and Davena McCall, played by Davena McCall, actually has a Show in the UK about finding people's birth parents! So that was a nice guest star! The straw hat! I have no thoughts. Just that it was neat! The Doctor gets therapy and IMMEDIATELY GOES CLUBBING. So, fun fact, that scene is based on how RTD met his husband, who sadly passed away before he came back as Showrunner. I will FULLY admit to not liking the new Sonic Screwdriver design, but it's growing on me a little... WAS HE WEARING 9'S JACKET?! "Lulubelle"... Cute, but DAMN is she gonna get bullied... Sorry kid. Holy shit, it's JUST the plot of "Labyrinth"! Oh, WOW, you got the same theory as my little bro! LIke, IMMEDIATELY! Sick! #hathairisreal got me. I thought for a second you just "that's what she said!" yourself, but I guess my mind's too in the gutter... SHE'S GONNA GET KILLED BY A CHRISTMAS TREEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!! This episode really was RTD's greatest hits! Those ain't CG! Those are puppets and actors in suits! PRACTICAL EFFECTS FTW! The last time this happened we got Captain Jack... And I guess these Goblins DID wake up this morning with a craving for a girl in a Union Jack! That Mavity joke is gonna fuck with so many people just jumping on the show with this episode. I love it. Also, now that Disney is involved, I figured they were gonna "Marvelize" The Doctor a little and those gloves feel like the first step... Though I AM glad for a new gadget! Maybe it's the "Final Fantasy" fan in me, but I ADORE flying ships that look like regular boats. It's just a phenomenal aesthetic! So my father believes that every Show longer than 2 Seasons with a big enough following deserves a musical episode. The fact that "Doctor Who" went a full 60 YEARS without a musical number like this is BAFFLING to me, but now that mistake has been corrected! Also, WHO VOICED THE GOBLIN?! Like, the song itself isn't anything special, but the vocals CARRY! Well, that Goblin King doesn't look like David Bowie... My first thought when we got a black Doctor, for SOME reason, was that he was gonna sing. I always felt like they played it too safe with Smith and Tennant in that regard... MAN, I'm glad I was right! Ncuti's voice is PHENOMENAL! And Millie sounds great too! Fun Fact: There was no mixing for their part of the song! They did everything live! My question is, how did 15 know the Goblin's name was Janice...? Yeah, no. This Doctor's a bigger flirt than Tennant... That's actually kinda terrifying. This is gonna be AWESOME! And Cherry was taken OUT! I mean, Doc HAS been a Grandpa before! The bickering reminds me of 10 and Rose SO MUCH! "We still keep in rouch with some of them... You've got the Biggest family in the World..." I think 15 is feeling recognized right now. Like, yeah, that's exactly how you are with your Companions! "I've got noone". Yeah right! Say that to the Pond's face! Though I understand he means literal Family, but there's SUSAN!!! "I'm adopted." That's ONE way of dealing with The Timeless Child at least... "Carol of the Bells" IMMEDIATELY makes every scene more tense... And man, first full episode and the 15 pulls down a skyship! He was right when he said he was gonna have 3rd Doctor energy! Can't wait for more! The Doctor doesn't kill, btw. :) (I hope 15 ends every single episode with a Mortal Kombat Fatality from now on!) She DIDN'T get killed ny a Christmas tree! :D Miss Flood looked like she had a whole Season with the Doctor before Ruby came down the steps! Same shot as Rose when she went around the Tardis in Episode 1! This is gonna be MAGICAL, I can tell! "I'm the Doctor". YES TF YOU ARE! You dramatic bitch opening the door and then running in up the ramp to stand there like a WHORE until she came it! I LOVE him so far! This is gonna be PHENOMENAL! He hasn't even told her he's an Alien yet... I kinda hope she never finds out! Ms Floor feels like either The Rani, Susan or Romana to me... Mostly Romana! Here's hoping! And there we go! That's the Special! Glad to have a full Season in our hands again soon! I'm gonna be blaming Goblins for every bad thing that ever happens to me now. I loved Ruby and the Doctor and I can't wait to see where they take it in the upcoming Season! People are thinking Ruby might be an Alien and that's a GREAT theory for me! You keep signing off early, you know...? Anyhow, I loved the ramble this time and I can't wait to see more! Peace out!
I have a feeling that Mrs Flood is actually a regeneration of the Master! There I said it!! Personally I thought parts of the episode where weak, just being honest!! Though parts of it were amazingly good. It can't be Ruby walking away from the church, as after all Davina said that there was NO RECORD of Ruby's parents - either of them - and for that show to take place the subject's DNA must be taken so that they can do a genealogical search -- so it CAN'T be ruby... (sorry to burst your bubble there folks). I do have a feeling we'll find out what Ruby's lineage backstory is at some point mind you. Hate having to wait until April/May time to watch what happens but hey ho...
@@robvanriot Nope. You share a portion of your DNA with your family - sons and daughters - if you have any, just as your parents shared their DNA with you. Ruby's parents would share theirs with her and when/if she has children, she'd share it with them.
I have a theory that's most likely wrong but I'm holding out hope anyway lol I think Ruby is a splinter of Clara. Here's my reasonings: First, look at Millie and Jenna side by side. They are uncannily similar. They have the same accent and attitude. They have similar reactions to strange events. Ruby's mom's name is Carla.... which is Clara jumbled... Strange how there's so much....Coincidence....
I don't think Mrs. Flood knows the Doctor, because otherwise she'd definitely have recognized his TARDIS. It's been the same on the outside for 60 years 😁 But she was upset about the phone box, and thought it was her neighbor's, until she saw it disappear. So now that brings up the question: who knows about TARDISes, but has never seen the Doctor's? 🤔

I don’t think I’ve fallen in love with a Doctor this quickly before.
That’s what I said at the end of The Giggle. Ncuti’s performance has been amazing right out of the gate.
Somewhere between "Love you, now get out." and "I've just been snowmanned" for me.

I'd love it if Mrs Flood is a Time Meddler - the original back in the Hartnell story who was a seemingly unimportant side character until he unintrusively identified that the Police Box was a TARDIS just by putting his ear to the door and then nodding and smiling. Of course, theories will abound.
You mean Mrs Flood is The Monk? It could be.... definitely.

Not sure if it will be a full-on musical but it looks like episode 2 of the next series will be very musical :)
The Doctor dances.😊
I loved how indignant he got when Ruby suggested the Goblins were time travelers.
I have been watching Doctor Who since the mid-seventies and I can say the 15th is already a favourite! 😊
Nice to see some positivity about Ncuti from an older fan! I think he's going to be great.
@@hanonhold Yes! I am not an insecure, right-wing moron, so I look forward to the future of DW. It is in safe hands with Ncuti as The Doctor.
The interview she's having with Ruby is a very meta thing, as it's based on an actual TV show about finding lost relatives on another channel!
When 15 started singing 👌👌👌👌
I really think Ncuti is playing THE DOCTOR. The 9th Doctor told Rose he sang a song but THIS Doctor and Ruby both actually singing was fun to see. RTD is back, baby!!!
Just a bit of trivia, 'Davina', (her actual name) is a legendary TV host one of her many many credits being the original Big Brother host.
She was even the voice of the Big Brother host in the Satellite 5 episode
I am told she also hosts a long running RL TV series called 'Long Lost Family' that re unites families after years of seperation
@zoe_blackmore indeed she does.
7:03 "this is awful but why did they make it so catchy" IT'S BEEN STUCK IN MY HEAD FOR DAYS NOW.
6:11, don't forget Governess Clara, climbing up to the TARDIS.
Brilliant debut for Ncuti and Millie. I hope you continue reacting. You are one of my favourite reactors. But definetly do what's right for you. Roll on the new season.
That musical number was so FIRE!! 😅
I was sold right then and there.
When Ruby disappeared and they started crying, it give me Rory flashbacks
15 feels like a lot of the joyful energy that 8 had. Ncuti would do "Yes! These shoes! They fit perfectly!" wonderfully.
the old lady at the end could be one of the people in the toymakers legion that he mentioned, thats my theory cause she broke the 4th wall, so maybe
13:08, knowing what a TARDIS is doesn't enable automatically recognizing one, not without watching it disappear with the "Wheeze".
Just 35 more days! Looking forward to having you back!
Rewatching in preparation for tomorrow!
As I gazed up to observe the majesty of the night
sky, a purple vault fretted with a million points of
light, as the stars glistened like diamonds cast
amidst black velvet, I watched in awe as the
crescent moon ascended the horizon like an
amber chariot across the zenith of the heavens
toward the empty void of infinite space wherein the
tethered belts of Jupiter, Mars and Saturn, they
are forever festooned in their ultimate majesty.
And as I gazed up to observe this majestic sight, I
thought to myself, you know I really must put a roof on this lavatory.
Les Dawson.
Great reaction Can't wait to see the rest of the season. Turns out there's a third mysterious twist lurking in the background in addition to Ruby's parentage and Ms. Flood.
Great sweater! Evokes thoughts of the 4th Doctor’s scarf to me.
The Doctor, dancing happily in a kilt, to Hybrid Minds, was such an unexpected but loved moment
It's about time DnB hit the US, and they love the vocal liquid stuff.
Little Whovian Fun Fact:
The scene with the Snowman's head falling off the building, it is the same building that was used in "Rose", Episode 1 of NuWho where Rose first met the Doctor.
ALso, in the BBC version (non Disney+ Version) they have said a release of Nucti's first series being May 2024
It has been a long time since I've been honestly excited about Doctor Who!
Finally anither dr who reaction to get me through a very bad chest infection got it from smoking so I decided to quit it
Good for you! Good luck!
10 made me like doctor who, 11 made me love it, 12 is my doctor but man 15 had me so quick! Him and ruby, I sense a new iconic duo on the horizon! Can’t wait for next season! Thanks for the vid let’s goooooooooo
Mrs Flood....flood points to water.....as does Pond....and River?
One thing that made me do a double take was the credits at the end. I thought the voice of the goblin during the musical number was familiar and I was right in it being a youtuber I've followed for years.
Ncuti is two episodes in and he's already shooting up to one of my favourite doctors. He just eats the screen up
Fantastic to see you Young Americans just getting it. A few slow burners here. Roll on May time and "Jinxx Monsoon?' ❤ from Scotland x
Touch - Hybrid Minds is the song that plays while Ncuti is dancing in the club btw if you wanted to know
I feel like there are definitely time shenanigans with Ruby's story.
We're back in a Davies/Moffat era (Moffat writing Boom for Season 1 on Disney+), nothing is ever just "throwaway" anymore as the past you felt at the time 😂
Just started watching the new Doctor Who on Disney plus. I will say I liked this new doctor and his companion. I look forward to seeing more of it.
When the Doctor decides not to return to Ruby’s flat - because maybe he was the bad luck - I think he takes Mrs. Flood on a trip or two in the TARDIS.
Right there with you with Mrs. Flood. Re-watching it made it seem like there was a lot more to it than I initially thought. Then I thought that she was sat there waiting. Then I remembered being warned about the one who waits by the toymaker.`
Edit: Also, she's played by Anita Dobson who's a reasonably well-known TV actor here in the UK.
Ayy love the reaction, Shayla, very cool!
Also about the post credit bit. I have a theory for Mrs Blood…she’s the Rani!
Another great reaction. Ncuti is wonderful, you're right. I was wondering if Miss Flood is Ruby as an old lady? Possibly, or maybe something more sinister - Missy? All the play for in 2024.
Ruby Sunday..... River Song 🎵 Mrs Flood Amy Pond ♥
Ooooh, that’s very interesting how you noticed her ‘sitting out’ for the TARDIS. I didn’t actually see that myself so great spot 😁
Fun fact, the church they filmed at is just a five minute walk down the road from me!
4:49, Ah, a Red Dwarf fan?😅 Or Robert Heinlein, or both?
The 15th Doctor has quickly established himself and I'm liking Ruby Sunday already who kinda looks like a fusion of Rose Tyler and Clara Oswald (- ^ )
Two mystery women from the previous specials:
a) the woman from Abu Dhabi who orders toys from Rose Noble (toys shaped like cybermen, daleks etc.). I'm not sure this one is a set-up for further narrative, but she could be;
b) the woman who took the golden tooth with the Master inside it.
Two mystery women from this episode:
a) Ruby's mother;
b) Mrs. Flood.
so this is actually taken from the Church on the Rock's Easter play. every year they do a Passion Play in one pop culture theme or another. one year they did the Avengers. this year they did Doctor Who.
Going back to Past Shayla's introduction to the Doctor Who family (which doesn't seem THAT long ago) was that she mentioned how two actors having that "chemistry" to make the show work...Ncuti and Millie have THAT (which goes to show that RTD really knows what he's doing!)
I think there was a tweek to the Star Wars fandom somewhere by making Jabba look very much like The Goblin King! 😉😉😉
Also, I love that everyone is gravitating to just WHO Mrs.
I think Mrs. Flood is Susan. The way she emphasizes on it being a TARDIS. It's her who named it that way in the beginning
Susan's actor is still alive though so be rather rude to recast her
@@Domino2097 good point. Big oversight although to be fair it's hard to keep track on all of them
I adored this episode!
Always enjoyed your reactions, Shayla. Hope you had a great Christmas.
11:36 "Is it? I hadnt noticed!"
The theory that it's an Older Ruby leaving Baby Ruby is certainly one that's gaining traction in the fandom.
I'm guessing Mrs. Flood is either the Master or "The Boss" that The Meep mentioned and/or "The one who waits" that the Toymaker mentioned.
Pond - River - Flood.
I don't think she's river but maybe a descendant. Maybe she's the child of River and the Doctor, who turns out to be Ruby's mother (making Ruby the Doctors granddaughter).
Who knows, can't wait for the mystery to unravel.
Not sure if you noticed but ruby being left at the church was 8 days before the 10th dcotor went back and met rose on news year
Happy New Year :D
Oooh.. been looking for your reaction! As always love your reaction. Ncuti... really shining here and fitting like a glove. Hope you get to catch the trailer! Lol Happy New Year for 2024!
Oh no, that’s way too easy. No no no. They’re not going to think like me. They’re going to become me.
Now that you said it, I totally think that's Ruby walking away at the church.
Here we go fifteen ❤ Good luck Shayla 🤞
Loving the Santa hat 👍🏻
Loved your positive reaction, as always! Happy New Year, Shayla. 🎊
That was Jodie who left the baby there- dont ask me how, no idea who baby Ruby is or Mrs Flood - but the lone woman was Jodie - you heard it here first... now please get a witness statement notarized giving me full credit because that puzzle wont be solved for a year or two.
It’s an odd fan theory, but the boots and the length of the pants do match up.
I wondered this, too. It would explain why 15 didn't chase after her, and why he was so interested in Ruby in the first place.
can't wait for may 2024!!!
Or Jenny?
I kinda hope Mrs. Flood is the Rani. That would be so cool to see another timelord that isn't the master back. Also side note, I really want them to bring back Omega.
For anyone whose never had an experience with a London metropolitan police officer... That's not how the interaction would have played out with this regeneration, and that's sad :(
Interesting that her last name was Flood. Makes me think of River and Pond.
Disney touched it for 5 seconds and our princesses are singing. Lol.
theory i want to posit. these are something the likes of which the doctor has never seen. we don't get that often. is it a coincidence it happened so soon after he invoked a fey superstition at the edge of the universe where the walls are thin and anything can happen. did these goblins exist before he played that trick on the not-things?
4:39 EXACTLY WHAT I THOUGHT !....or it could be The Mistress?...Remember the tooth?
I think Mavity is more than a running joke. Side universe? Alternate timeline? Cracks in reality? And the biggest question… will I ever get the goblin song out of my head?
The human race was always your favorite, Shayla. But now there is no human race. There is only the Master Race.
You attempt to say your sign off and cut it off nearly every time now, very Shayla. 😜
Ncuti is the Doctor, Millie is Ruby, the chemistry is instantly there.
:) (I hope 15 ends every single episode with a Mortal Kombat Fatality from now on!)
She DIDN'T get killed ny a Christmas tree! :D
Miss Flood looked like she had a whole Season with the Doctor before Ruby came down the steps!
Peace out!
Hope to see you around more Shayla!
Mrs Flood....Jinkx Monsoon....Maybe something there?
If it's Ruby then it makes total sense that her DNA wouldn't be traced - the only person with her DNA would be her?
