Green Bleach on Black Hair | Green cancels Red

- The color wheel says Green cancels/neutralizes Red. Dark hair has a lot of red underlying pigment. Lift with green makes sense .

"Green cancels red"
The strand: *turns red*
it’s more of a strawberry blond, so i think it helped somewhat
The green canceled the brassy undertone so that when bleached to platinum it won’t be orange. That’s why this blonde is strawberry blonde and not the normal orange blonde that red toned hair has.
@@Julianpowpow huh?
@@rabbit3212010 they’re saying that the green canceled out the red so that it wouldn’t be as saturated. yes, there’s still a reddish undertone, but you can see that it got rid of most of the red.
I was just gonna say this🤣
Hmm Green bleach, as long as I have been doing my hair blonde, I never heard of this. But I haven’t bleached, highlighted or cut my hair other than trims, in 5 years, I guess I didn’t!
I've seen white, blue, and purple, but not green.
I've never seen ANY COLORED bleach🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️
@@cherylashley8658 if you go to a beauty supply store like Sally's, they have bleach powder designed to compensate for certain undertones. This is why they offer neutral, blue, and Violet based options.
@@RowanWarren78 ok thank you. I live in FT. MYERS FLA..We have quite a few Sally's
@@RowanWarren78 yep I bought some and didn’t realize it was glacier blue until it was in my hair😂😭reading is definitely fundamental 😂😭
It’s like how if you put green concealer or face paint on acne/red spots and go over it with foundation it’ll color correct it
Exactly!
I thought it looked shorter like she cut off the red ends.
Yes exactly! Had she used a normal, blue, or even purple bleach, it would have been much more brassy and needed more processing.
We all understood that.. 🤷🏻♀️
thnx for the tip
OMG i knew green canceled red but I've never seen a green lightener. I NEED to know what your using please
Fanola and Showtime both have green lighteners

My brain was so impressed it told me that the after colour looks like real hair colour…excuse me while I go and enrol myself in kindergarten, I think I need to start again.
i got a stroke reading this
@@leonienuhn4571 same
Wait what? I need to enroll myself in kindergarten too cuz I can’t read this
I literally vocally said “omg it looks like a real hair” and I about had it.
@@leonienuhn4571 I think I had a stroke writing it! 🤣 I know what I mean, honest! 🤷♀️
That’s actually a really pretty color
it is!! I really like the shade
Yes! I had this hair color when I was a little girl. Now my 2 y.o. has the same shade
when you mixed it up.. girl why it sound so crustyyyyy
Because of the bleach powder
Bleach is a crystal like powder dissolved in a cream like solution.
Not enough developer and too much heat dried it out
Except bleached hair doesn’t turn red? It turns orange or yellow. And this looked very orange. Still interesting to watch tho
I assume this is from dyed black hair as this tends to leave the hair red/pinkish. But if this was supposed to be for virgin black hair yea it’s quite brassy orange yellow and it doesn’t appear to have done anything.
I used to specialize in hair color and it does in fact turn "red" before orange. It's not fire truck red but the undertones are more red than orange. Lifting hair goes black > dark warm brown > red > orange > yellow > pale yellow. If you start out with black hair it will go red before orange.
@@heidihawthorne but the bleach is gonna lift it past the red to orange bare minimum even without green bleach depending on what volume you use
@@carmenanonymous7028 i did this as a profession for many years and am nicely trying to explain why your statement is incorrect. Hair goes red before orange when lifting. It's impossible to go from black to orange without red first. Think about it. If you start with black hair it doesn't magically jump from black to orange. It goes red first. And some people only need a little lift so they will stop in the red stage and choose to cancel out the undertones which is why green bleach is a helpful product.
@@carmenanonymous7028 but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong lol 🙂
I love that we’re really just explaining color theory in a roundabout way. No hate lol, just find it interesting.
Im confused tho cause the opposite of red on a color wheel is blue
@@78cottoncandy I think you are thinking of primary colors. The opposite of red is green
Look….I went to school two years ago and I have never even seen or heard of colored bleach! This is amazing! Thank you for sharing this
I wish was both to compare the final results
All I saw was red... I've been doing hair professionally for almost 4 years now and I've never even heard of green lightener. We have purple and blue lightener which do better in my opinion than whatever that was.
I’ve been doing pro hair for over ten years and I was thinking the same. Drop some red reducer in that bleach and keep it pushing lol cuz you’re gonna get the same results. Fun to watch though
Not a hairdresser, but someone who has bleached and toned my hair many times in the past and I have an understanding of how those products work alone. I just don’t understand the concept of how something can lift and deposit color at the same time.
I have been doing hair for 30 years and I really saw a difference. When you put regular bleach on black hair,it turns orange and that one is not. That was amazing
Tell me where to buy that😅
It's only lifting not depositing and the green is just counteracting the warmth..
@@michellevega1523 yes, I saw a difference too. I’m very confused as to how these professional hair dressers don’t see how this isn’t orange like it usually would be lol
"g̶r̶e̶e̶n̶ c̶a̶n̶c̶e̶l̶s̶ r̶e̶d̶"
The strand:𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐧𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐝
Except it didn't, it wasn't ever going to turn red. It canceled out the brass. Idk if you've ever bleached dark hair before but that is absolutely not the normal orange you get after bleaching once.
@@inuchan74 Exactly that's what I was trying to explain in another comment. I've done this to black/ultra dark hair on myself a hundred times and it always looked like neon pumpkin ugly fiery totally unnatural shades of orange that you can't wait to re-color or bleach again. This turned into a really pretty shade of strawberry blond that at least looks natural. Its way more toned down. I'd be happy letting my hair be that shade for a few days in between lightenings.
Narrow mixing bowl giving me anxiety
yeah green and red cancel each other out, so do blue and orange, and yellow and purple (like how purple shampoo makes yellow/bleached hair platinum blonde^^
I tell a new hairdresser this all the time. Because my hair pulls red really bad. And they NEVER listen. Finding a good hair dresser these days is rough.
Oh. Finding a good hair dresser has ALWAYS been rough. Way back when (we won't say how long ago lol) I wanted a loose wave perm. I told her my hair holds curl really really well, she tried explaining that this here strand test said otherwise, I said you'll need to use bigger rods, she was convinced she knew my hair better than me, and I looked like a poodle.
For some reason hair styling includes a lot of color theory
And chemistry. It’s why they go to school then do placement to apply what they’ve learned.
Why doesn’t my stylist know about this? Oh wait, I’m my own stylist, at least the last couple of years. Duh 🙄
We need some updating but we will get it lol
Same cut, color & curse half the time!!! Hispanic bleached said 15 minutes so I let it sit for 45 oh my lort it was WHITE wasnt to bad after a week of getting use to 😎
That stuff is so thick I can't imagine having to apply that to long hair like mine. Alternatively, you could add "Red Out" (sold at Sally's Beauty Supply) to the product you're using instead.
That lifted to such a nice colour omg
I dyed my hair blue over black, and when I bleached my hair again it came out perfectly blonde without red/orange 🤷🏻♀️
Those nails are 🔥
Thats a beautiful champagne blonde. Perfect for very dark hair that lifts to a medium blonde. Red is the undertone of dark brown hair, so it makes sense to use green.
!!!!!! The way I need this for my friends hair! 😍
I know this is probably useful to somebody out there..But this isn't the first like it I've seen, and I just keep thinking "Doesn't anyone remember how the color wheel worked??"
It is Gold … and those that see Red should not be colorists! You are good!
It’s literally orange. Maybe you should see an ophthalmologist lol
Don’t be shy, try it on your own hair..
Wow the result was actually so pretty I'd love to have that blonde
Your nails are so cute!
Wow that’s so smart, I’m learning so much from you Leda, thank you 🙏
you didn’t know that- it works cs it’s ok different sides of color wheel
Fascinating! This would be a great way to teach chemistry to HS students.
love the lil bird in the background 😫🤝🫶
How about you cancel out orange instead?
I have never heard of Green bleach for hair 🤯
I had to watch this twice because it was so satisfying to see the green wash out and change to a different color.
I love how that looks
Having done thousands of heads of hair, this isnt red at all. This bleach is really cool! Anyone saying otherwise is clearly NOT a color specialist. Dont speak on what ya dont know, especially negatively, it makes you sound dumd.

Great colour.
Still really orange/red
Compared to what it could be, this isnt red at all. Hair thats being lifted will always pull red, orange, and yellow tones depending on how dark the hair you start with is.
I love cosmetology, green cancels red and purple cancels yellow just like on the color wheel 🥰🥰
Level system wise all black, dark brown and brown colors have red undertones. Green bleaching powder for dark hair is a good idea. Just like charcoal bleach for platinum and purple bleach for blonde with yellow/orange tints. Blue bleach for orange but it is called color theory.
This explains why my sister's had a light red color that first time
We usually use blue lightner or an even bluer lightner but but if you are pushing past a level 7 even blue would turn yellow hair green. I can't imagine this is practical and it doesn't loon any different than usual bleach lifting
That worked pretty decently
Ms. Fazal you are so very gifted.
I love these videos with hair testers!!! 😍
This is sooo satisfying to watch
This lady is a true artist 👩🎨
I wish we had that type of talent here
That’s amazing.
Ohhhhh!!! So i colored my hair a beautiful cold brown. Unfortunately on my virigin hair it turned red. Could green help here, too?
Yes.
OMG thanks I'll dye it with green bleach then regular bleach, I have very dark brown hair not completely black but very dark! ❤️
Beautiful color result!

Just like when u have a red spot on ur face color theory is amazing 🤩
LOVE THOSE 'NAILS"
So freakin pretty
The color your hair turns when bleached is based on undertones and genetics. My grandmother has black hair naturally, with red undertones, so it always turned red or orange. I have very dark brown hair with a more yellow undertone, so mine turns yellow. Black dyes, for both hair and clothing, are made from oversaturating a color to it's darkest point, usually red, which then makes bleaching it out turn super red. The "color" of the bleach is not actually imparting any color at all, it's just breaking up chromophores which our eyes then perceive as white or transparent. In a way, it's like you're adding white paint to your hair color until it reaches the desired color, then toner color corrects it further.
Color theory is so cool! When I was a kid and bathed in swimming pools a lot on vacations, my blonde hair turned green from the chlorine and my mom always fixed it by putting ketchup in my hair hahah. IT ACTUALLY WORKS to cancel out the green
Honestly that looks really good If you consider the original color
I actually love the result colour
That's so pretty
that’s a really nice colour
Wow got the perfect colour 😍
That’s a really pretty golden color
In Manhattan this is frequently done for Asian hair. I've seen a few Japanese girls request it in our salon that specializes in blonde. I don't do it but I've seen the green used be much more green, because these girls are looking for totally ashe hair with no warmth. Of course, it still takes 2 sessions &/or a toner depending on how light they go
You should do a time lapse speed up using those clear foils! Thatd be awesome!
Like a Sandy blonde shade, very cool.
looks pretty red from here 🧐 i've always used purple lightener and that cancels the red in my hair super well
Very nice!!
Keep this in mind folks: Depending on what brand of hairdye you use, black dye can be based with almost any color. It's important to know what kind of dye you used so you can see what color you need to cancel it out when lifting the black with bleach and developer.
This is very cool, but your snake/coil thumb ring is absolutely gorgeoussssss... I used to have one just like it! I'm inspired to get a new one now
Ive never seen a green bleach before but from only seeing it I feel like a blue bleach would work better I've used it on my black Asian hair it lightens and tones very well
I've been bleaching my hair since I was 10 years old. I'm 30. In my entire life I have never heard of Green Bleach.
Me TOO! I used to do my mom's hair like twice a yr with the frosting cap. I started when I was in 10 yo in 4th grade. I made sure to have a little left over so I could run into the bathroom & put it on my hair without telling her. She couldn't stop me if she wanted her hair done. I'm 47 yo this month. I don't even know my natural hair color anymore. I use olaplex so my hair is still health & soft.
That used to be my hair colour !
I thought the hair was gonna melt or fall apart, gee I thankful it didn't always stresses me I seen videos on RUclips of other people, that did this and royal ruined there hair so sad ❤️love to those people
I guess I need some green bleach! I didn't know that was a thing, and the blue kind never gets all the natural red tones out of my hair. Also, that rainbow brush, and your nails!!! Gorgeous 😍
Blue bleach cancels orange, which is red and yellow. Green is a secondary color made from yellow and blue, only canceling red. Makes more sense to stick with blue bleach.
Most bleach powder is blue because it cancels orange tones so that your hair turns yellow which is the base you need for toning
I love it 💓😍😍😍
Ooo i want that hair
That was a super pretty shade of strawberry blond tho 😍
Huh. My friend told me that she intended her hair to be green when she dyed it, but it was an orange-redish color. Makes sense.
Have had my hair dyed green for a while; nice silver blonde every time color is removed - no bleach.
Someone tell me why the bleach in the beginning looks so good to eat!! Like I would never eat that in real life but like UGHHH!! It’s the same feeling with lava
I have a very similar haircolor and Ive always used blue bleach and the results are way better. Its a no for me :)
Are we not going to talk abt how thick that bleach is?? I feel like it should be a little creamier
The Color is a nice shade
It's actually the other way around. Red cancels green. My mom is a hairstylist and she been doing for 17 years now.
I already knew it doesn't cancel out red, when they are usually merged together it creates a brown
Damn, I really thought Red was a good person but Green showed us the truth about them
So bright after one bleach. And for the orange we should use blue corrector.
Honestly never thought the colors in the bleach ever deposited because, it's bleach. Bleach lightens
This would probably work for someone going from red hair color to blonde or with red hair color underneath other layers of color to achieve a more even lift.
The heated blanket sent me 😩
