Thanks for the update! I always trust a vog video! How could they not include you for reviews?! You are a trusted and respected reviewer!
Thanks Matthew. I think it's their accountants having them justify review models, so we can be a little sympathetic.
I love my 8K. I’m glad to see market for big printers still strong.
I'm glad to see it too 😁
Vog man keeping us up to date as always 😀.
Doing my best 😁😁😁
I think Phrozen had to do it because of the prices of competitors. The M3 Max is just slightly smaller for $870... Around 1/2-1/3rd the price of the original Mega.
What I'm most excited about is the fact that it's upgradeable. Now I do understand certain features you can't always easily upgrade without replacing major parts of the printer... but the screen from 8K > 12K is a huge win.
There really is only 1 thing I am looking for in these printers which would get me to switch to them... and that is full automation hardware. Which right now is only found in the FormLabs series. The Form 3 + Form Auto are way too expensive for me to purchase, but as someone who's previously had a print farm and had to stop due to health concerns, that would make resin 3D printing viable for me again.
Thanks for your deep dive! I'm looking to build a print farm, and my four Anycubic machines seem to mess up more than they work. If you were building a small farm which printer would you select for reliability? Is it this one? I'm not too bothered by speed.
Thanks for sharing 👍
Thanks for watching 😁😁😁
YES!!! Refill kit. Gonna be getting one of those for my Mega 8K.
Sorry... it's a upgrade kit from MIGHTY 8K to 12K... but I imagine a Mega upgrade kit may come along soon.
@@vogman I might just modify it to work. Thanks for telling me.
Looked up in the website, it is for the Sonic Mega 8KS as an upgrade, so it should fit on the original Mega. Definitely going to buy one. Helps nice I run super long prints.
Great I'll catch this when finish work! I love my new Saturn 2 8k i wish i bought that first than starting off with the smaller 4k and mono 2! Just night and day difference
Hey Vogman, so I’m going to be buying a resin 3d printer soon. But I don’t know what small printer has the best print quality, I’m wondering what you’re opinions of the highest detail mini printer is? Right now I’m looking at the Anycubic Photon Mono 2. But I’m not sure
I need a printer with a vat heater. GKTwo 12K coming soon. Though I would like a larger printer, I wish they had a glass screen protector like even the cheaper brands do. The screen upgrade is a great idea and not a lot of money. Hard to beat the Phrozen brand for quality and I am excited to see the new model when it ships. Great info video.
Used your link, hope it helps! One day I hope to make reviews myself, for the time being keep up the good work!
Awesome, thank you! 👍👍👍😁😁😁
So do I want more microns or less microns? The one in the video is 43, but the upgrade to the other printer at the end brings it to 19.
Watch this video. Suddenly everything will make sense. 😁😁😁😁😁

I'm saving my pennies and will be using your Affiliate links!
Many thanks 😁😁😁👍👍👍
Does this pre-order s-model of the mega still have the ethernet port
Do we know who the screen is programed by? Will we see rectangular pixels On the 12k upgrade kit? That will be an interesting video!
The news here is upgrade kits!! I don't want/need to replace a whole printer. Most of the changes recently have been screen and FEP. Love the reduction of waste (not to mention shipping) that a simple upgrade kit brings.
Well said.
3:58 Why are they unscrewing the bolts and removing the wires? That's a plug! It has a locking feature and spring loaded terminals. It doesn't need to be glued in.
If they glue it in and use the wire vices to break connection they would be better off with the much cheaper and smaller non-pluggable version of that connector.
That tilting lid design looks really good tough. It would be nice to have some silicone or foam liner around the edges. That would improve the sealing and sound damping. Those plastic lids are quite good mechanical amplifiers.
Really you need to watch their full installation video. I showed snippets that might be out of context 😁
was soo close buying a mega 8K when it came out, but i´d rather stick with the M3 Max, slightly smaller, but currently available for around 850€ and works like a charm
There's a very large price difference for very little quality drop, so that's a sensible decision.
So is the M3 max really any good? I was looking at buying one of these but all I keep hearing is "Anycubic customer service is rubbish..."
I'm interested to see how useful that resin pump will be.
Me too. I tend not to like them. I hope Phrozen has got it right.
Interesting
It has the old LEGO space ship colours.
I must have it!
It kind of looks like a flip-top cockpit 😁
2:30 - Perfect clothing choice considering the target market. LOL
I never noticed... that's the story I'm sticking to 😁😁😁
God I got so confused at the end, I thought you were still talking about the mega. Still hilarious to increase the resolution by 50% and only get a reduction of 20% in pixel size
If it's not confusing, it's not VogMan 😂🤣😂
That lid is a bad design for us with narrow shelf space. It will hit the wall before I can raise it all the way up and open
The Mega 8KS is a fantastic addition by Phrozen, unfortunately I need the 10cm more build hight for my ship models so I will still have to get the normal Mega 8K.
Oooooo... sounds interesting!
@@vogman The first is a one meter long model of the Daedalus from Stargate and the 2nd one is a model of the Nautilus from Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Seas also a meter in length.
Painted and displayed...?
@@vogman I am still working on the 3d model for the Daedalus, the Nautilus is print ready but I have to wait till my Mega 8K arrives next month. I will send you pictures.
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Look forward to a review of this beasty, pity on the 100mm less Z though :(
I think the height was where the real savings came in. Shame though.
@@vogman Yes, 100mm of linear rail and ballscrew thread would only be a handful of dollars. The money is in the carriage and the ballscrew and they remain unless smaller? I suppose if trying to save every cent. The cover will be a lot cheaper. For jewelers and mass modellers this would be a fantastic deal? you can get a lot of rings and detail parts on that plate.
Hey Vogman, I've been watching your reviews for a couple of weeks now and they are fantastic. I am relatively new to 3d printing and I do it as a hobby but I quite enjoy it.
I was wondering if you've by chance seen/heard of the "Apex-maker 3D" resin printer. It's an 8k, 16" and a kickstarter, I'm not sure not legit the company is but thought you might know more, or even better, have a review coming out on said printer, that would be amazing!
I have come across it... on paper it looks good. But it's a kickstarter and many don't make it. I really hope they do, but unless there's more innovation there than I'm seeing, they're up against stiff competition without much to set them apart.
Is rumble not working it for you??
I've found Rumble a big disappointment. Very difficult to use and even worse to get picked up on than YT.
What do you think about the Apex Maker X1? Guess it is way more interesting then the Mega 8KS.
As long as marketing as been done properly. all kickstarters look great 😁
The proof comes in physical inspection and actual use, so I've no idea how this one holds up.
@vogman Yes, at least their marketing sounds promising. 😅 If the device has all the promised specs and is reliable, it could be a beast. Definitely a machine I'd love to see a onest review on your channel :)
Wow, massive. LLVM
As big as you think it is, it's always bigger.
Insane they wouldn't send you one for reviews. this is the only channel I follow for resin printers. everyone always wastes so much time on BS and trying to get face time on the internet. I do want to see when you get one how fast it actually is. I don't like how the old Mega 8K says max speed is 70mm per hour. but the Mega 8KS is supposed to be faster at "600 layers an hour" instead of a measurement of MM. and given the average user's layer height it reported to be between 0.01 to 0.05 basic math says 600 layers an hour is NOT going to be faster than 70mm an hour. but that is listed as it's max speed.
Well I'm working on my review video right now, so rest assured, Phrozen did come through for me. Look out for the review in a few days 😁
I do see your logic here but a grand and a half is still massively outside my budget as someone with a small 3D printing business. And I doubt I'd be able to make that money back quick enough for it not to be problem. The only way I can see that price being viable for 3D printing businesses is if you're very successful already with consistent profits. Which puts this thing outside the reach of the majority of small 3D printing businesses.
My M3 max is doing alright, but I definitely prefer Phrozen.
Any reason for this?
@@vogman I have found that my Phrozen Sonic Mini 8k is highly consistent. The Anycubic has had a lot of software bugs and quirks I have to be careful with, like not putting the flash drive in at the wrong time or taking it out (requiring a reboot). I also have had a really bad time trying to get the light off delay working properly on the Anycubic M3 Max. Essentially, I have given up entirely on the timing and just let it use the default settings. I have things dialed in precisely to make mechanical parts on the Phrozen Sonic Mini 8k. Overall, the quality of the Phrozen just seems better and more thought out. I also really disliked the FEP that came on the Anucubic, which was frosted. Since I am making things like bottle caps, parts that screw together, etc, I don't appreciate the frosted FEP much. I have also found it requires much longer to get things to adhere to its build plate. I can't enumerate everything here. The only two positives of the Anycubic M3 Max I have found is that it allows me to modify parameters during a print (which usually doesn't turn out well and leaves a line) and it also is by far the cheapest printer for the size. I needed a large printer and didn't want to break the bank. Considering the old cost of the Phrozen, I wasn't going to pay over 2k for my printer, but at only 500 bucks more I would absolutely consider that. However I wont be getting a new one until this one breaks, so I am going to have the Anycubic for a while.
Edit: Also, the resin can run out very easily on the Anycubic and has caused a lot of headaches. I don't use the auto refill bottle because it is too messy for me.
Thanks for the feedback 😁
Does 12k make much of a difference?
Watch this video. Suddenly everything will make sense. 😁😁😁😁😁
ruclips.net/video/vIi6N9EXexc/видео.html
go get'em VOG Man!! hu ha, Pow!!
Clunk, clunk, ouchie! 😁😁😁
Oof, $1500 still! I'll just wait a bit for these to start showing up second hand after a life on a farm somewhere....
$2300 sounds even worse! These aren't cheap, but I still rate Phrozen as king of the large printers 😁
I wanted to buy this but unfortunately the build plate is a no go for me. With failed prints or change of resin you have to clean semi cured/cured resin in all of those holes on the build plate. I'd rather not spend my time doing that, too bad there isnt a non hole option.
you can buy a plate that goes over it so it dosnt have the holes, and just comes straight off
Incredible printers..but too big for my needs..Bigger is better..but i could not justify such a larhe machine❤️
Trust me Mark, you need plenty of space and plenty of reasons why to own one of these. They're great - but not for everyone 😁
@@vogman I know you're more a news and hardware review channel but i'd love to see your take on what these large tools or professional printers like the Formlabs ones are for. Just to learn which side of the fence you 'd be better served depending on your production output (farm of cheap printers vs large pro printers)... There's not much info about that on the tubes...
Is it the same screen? Rumour is they're dumping the classic 8K in favour of this new cheap and nasty version, which means original replacement screens may be less available?
I've no idea.
1.5k in case of u wanna know the price
Now cheap... cheaper... but not cheap 😁
I'd love to get one, but does it come with the girl in the advert? If so, count me in!
I did ask... eventually she took out a restraining order.
Stick with it. Chicks dig persistence.@@vogman
That's what I said to my lawyer!!!
Excluding tax, the mega 8k is 1999 euro , I hadn't noticed that this one was losing 10 cm of print height. . c'est énorme. I've always hesitated to go to anycubic to buy my printers, but for some time now I've been thinking of buying the M3. The Jupiter is a huge failure. There are lots of kickstarters with printers that look interesting, I think the rush is unnecessary and that the future will bring us some good surprises.
You're right, as a whole Phrozen is a more expensive brand. They take the stance that they provide quality. I guess they consider themselves the iPhones of printing 😁
@vogman I think you're in a better position than me to have this opinion, I don't care about micron, I only print in 50 micron. I'm the impatient type and I don't do minis at the moment, and I know how to sand without damaging the quality. The comparison with Apple suffit is judicious, I would have thought of Formlabs but it's not the same technology. Uniformation has an interesting ultrasound system. Can't wait to see the rest :D
Too bad eu has 20% more expensive price due to vat tax, normally I would order it.
hah, wow thats a big print space, but theres about a zero chance i could afford one, even at "$800 cheaper" its still outta my price range sadly
Damn, that affiliate link requirement is kinda shady extortion practice on their part!
But I'd rather see your reviews than you not putting a link in description 😀
That's very kind of you. I think it's their accountants having them justify these review models, so we can be a little sympathetic.
But no Mega 12K?
ACF film is what is leading to all the poor quality prints and weird lines. Quality over speed should be the goal.
Some will always favour speed, so I guess we have to allow for it, but personally I'm on your side 😁
@@vogman People that ought to buy resin printers are looking for quality, not speed. I think the manufacturers are wrong to jump on the bandwagon for an increase in speed on also resin printers. Which is stupid.
I agree... resin printing is QUALITY printing... but with more people and different resins, we've got to accept that more uses will be found for these printers and that includes faster printing.
the printer manufacturers don't make the panels, thats why there is just one 12k panel that all the new printers use and why for previous generations they also used the same panels, phrizen can just make a new bigger 12k panel unfortunately. Although now that pixels are so small, going smaller won't have any benefit without high detail brittle resins which most people don't use, so bigger screens could be more common as just higher res printers isn't going to continue to be a great point for sales
Need more Z
Yes, the loss of height is a shame. I guess that's part of the cost cutting.
Finally, a large printer that looks less like a wardrobe and more like a... printer!
Is it me, or does that flip lid actually look attractive?
@@vogman I feel like my missus will hate me for saying yes. But .. yes.
Another stupid resin pump?!
Yes... I can't claim to be a fan. I hope it's better than the one on the Creality Halot Mage Pro.
@@vogman how many mm in z height they might have kept instead
@@runklestiltskin_2407 considering it's not packed in, and is an optional extra, probably not much.
My guess is the height was part of the cost saving and the pump was supposed to make us feel better. I think they misjudged us 😁
