I find this line so funny but at the same time it's so EVE. She strikes me as a very blunt person who probably wouldn't even understand why it's an awkward thing to say
As someone with bpd, eve is super relatable. She splits on Zuke after having him on a pedestal (he was her favorite person), feels she was betrayed/abandoned, trapped Zuke in an attempt to keep him from leaving/abandoning her. She has a very black and white view of the world where everyone is either with or against her. Also the feeling that she lacks a purpose unless someone loves her. Rejection (especially by her fp) causes her to breakdown, and then she isolates herself.
You can see how the level compliment zuke rather than mayday since not only eve favors zuke over mayday but it's the level that made it tough for her and how easy it was for zuke Zuke has swift movement as stated in the beginning but the level for him was mostly cake walk Mayday was slow but packed a punch but Eve's hate for her made it difficult You can see it from this gameplay that zuke had way more health then mayday and how less he needed to heal while she was always staying afloat.this boss battle really ties well with the whole preference thing eve sees
Well it also symbolizes Eve’s bipolar disorder. The white side is her tranquil state, where she holds her creative side, while the pink side is her chaos, her manic depressive side where her stresses only feed the chaos within her. Mayday is that obstacle so of course she has it harder.
@@WannabeWryter yeah. Plus her music was confusing to me. Like as I was hearing it I thought “how is she #1 if her music isn’t as catchy as the others?!” It’s not bad, just kind of weird
@@joyfulvision it'd a sort of trance or synthwave edm, but here's an idea. Mayday heard the dubstep edm while zuke heard the synthwave base version. Eve might be an artist who songs will sound different depending on who hears them. In other words,, while the usually is 1 song for one type of audience, eve makes 1 song for multiple audiences.
This fight is the most meaning/lore dense battle I've ever seen in my life. Bravo whoever came up with Eve. The reason her pre-fight promo in the plaza is just her posing while the camera zooms on her until she opens her eyes to confront the viewer is because her entire district is littered with references to her despising the gaze and judgement of her person by others and herself (the menacing eye statues, the wonky perspective art, the phone's display, etc.) The fact that her boss also has her shooting out eye beams as she literally weaponizes her gaze (as oppose to figuratively in her promo) is even further proof of this. Then there's the last phase of the actual fight. A little secret of this fight is that certain actions that Zuke performs on his side actually heal Eve by small amounts, showing that her view of him is still positive and that Zuke is trying to help her heal despite the fact that he is her enemy. And yet, during the last phase, she thrashes and swings her limbs at both Zuke and Mayday in the same fashion. In her despair and anger, she treats even those that love and respect her the same as perfect strangers. The fact that the fight ends with shattering a mirror (breaking the illusion of distance through perception/illusion) to be immediately followed by Eve retreating into that same broken mirror and drawing into herself as one would after having their worldview and sense of self challenged/broken through the acts and words of others is absolutely brilliant and surprising homehitting. This is the most well-thought-out fight in the world, and I don't think anything can convince me otherwise.
Eve definitely has some kinds of dysphoria/ mental disorder due to how she views herself and how she perceives others perceiving her. Her art and music seems to be a reflection of her trying to channel her feelings of herself into something physical and understandable. At least, that’s what I think
I just noticed that the Showstopper is used, even if Eve was at half health before Mayday and Zuke reunited. Most Showstoppers go when the enemy has no HP left. Mayday telling Eve that Zuke was better must have been enough to completely destroy her.
It's like finally acknowledging the fact that YOU were the one that ruined everything by trying too hard to make it all perfect; a common vice that artists of Nadia's persona have. It's pertinent to say that the perspective that Zeke shared towards the end isn't the only one. There is the possibility for one to become "complete", though the chance is one in a billion. The better side is to accept that the reason you are who you are is because you aren't complete and never will be. However, acceptance is a long road to trek and the extremes Nadia took to avoid it only shows that she's not ready to understand why the possibility is low. She can't fathom that an "art piece that is never finished" is even real, when said masterpieces exists right before her. Humans are interesting not because of our strives toward perfection, but our struggles and creativity within flawed circumstances.
“Remember when I was the tectonic plates and you were the sea? The heat we channeled when your waves broke upon my earth was euphoric!” I’m hearing this and I can’t help but imagine Eve and Zuke at some point were intimate back when they were in college.
Love her character design tho, the abstract on her are soo unique and exotic!!! Her sassy personalities really fit her well (even tho i don't like sassy much) make her boss stage like this wacky gucci vibe abstract party sassy girl!! Sorry for long post, i just really love her design and all.
Taking in consideration that her 2 colors represent Nadia/Eve and Love/Hate also was a selling point for me. Eve being the sassy party girl and Nadia being the girl that Zuke (probably) loved. The art in this game is phenomenal.
How is it we got way more character developments from Zuke (his relationship with DC West and EVE) than May when May is suppose to be the lead protagonist?
I find it so interesting that in timestamp 7:00 - 7:06, it shows the differences between her two colours and how she projects them (Zuke's has white glass shards while Mayday's has pink hands)
It really symbolizes what Eve believes in, Mayday has a darkish pink/red room with creepy arms cause Eve hates her and sees Mayday as a evil pedestrian unworthy of Zuke as her band mate, while Zuke has white and more lighter colors in his room with even confetti like particles if you go to her phase 2, because Eve depicts Zuke as a holy and pure person who actually understands her almost as a saint of sorts.
Eves ending actually made me cry instantly. I thought she was incredibly rude for just snapping at Zuke for leaving her, but after she explained how she doesn't feel like she has any purpose without anyone else I felt so sorry for her. I relate so much to her, everyone expresses their pain in a different way, she does with anger. I just want to go and give her a hug and tell her I feel the same. I mean the fact that she feels that she needs someone or else she's unless, not that she snapped at Zuke (the fact she got so angry still isn't okay, but I can absolutely understand why she did) I've never seen a character in a game or any other media with the same issue that I have, so I love Eve to death. Not to mention we are both artists :) Sorry for rambling, had to get my thoughts out somewhere
To be fair, her anger is not unfounded either: from what I understand, Zuke didn't just leave the relationships, he kinda just vanished. If your loved one runs away as a coward without explaining anything, that's... Very hurtful. I'm not trying to justify her behaviour, but it's a thing to consider
yeahj ive had this happen to me many times, in friendships, i can totally understand her view on it. she still behaved badly, and should think about what she did wrong, but it wasn't right for zuke either to just leave her without leaving her any answers.@@tuoritto
Even though I think everyone knows, has no one noticed her breastplates are the color of mayday and zuke's hair; mayday's hair is colored yellow, in which the yellow breastplate is on the pink side, meaning she hates her and wants to get rid of her, while the teal breastplate, which represents zuke's hair is on the white side, meaning she loves him and wants him back. Note: I could be wrong.
wow, that's a good catch!! eve is my comfort character that i try to know almost everything about and even i didn't realize that! imo i don't think interpretations like this could be wrong, even if there's a possibility the devs didn't intend for much, i still think it brings interesting value to her design :D
I love this. The rhythm is just as tricky as I predicted but the wholesome story makes up for this. I can't wait to play this game when it's finally released.
Garnet: Your soulmate is your complement, not your missing piece. Whatever hole there is in your life, Eve, I want you to understand that Zuke won’t be able to fill it.
Her painting teleportation is really bad especially, she has no animation for leaving the painting. Also the back of the hands in the Divas realm stick out from the portals, so it doesn’t look like it’s coming out the portal, it just looks like the hands have an odd effect around them.
@RAYMOND ZHOU Apologies for butting in here as a complete random person, but my thoughts on the "Zuke/Eve" thing are as following: It can't happen. "Backstory" is not enough reason to ship them. Zuke literally tells Eve that he is not the person she wanted him to be, that as close as he is to seeing the world as she does, he can never be a person to share her exact vision with. Yet she mustn't be afraid of never finding someone to complete her. Because Eve completes herself. Having Zuke and Eve be in an amiable, platonic relationship here is more powerful than any form of immediate love of shipping. Eve is a woman with deep mental issues that i think she needs to learn how to deal with, overcome or at least live with on her own, improving herself which *can* be done with the help of others. But no single person will ever fully understand her mind: the closest thing to that would be multiple persons that all might understand bits and pieces of it. And as such it's best to have multiple people willing and capable of helping and understanding her in an environment. (Emphasis on "capable", for not everyone is good to try and get help from, as much as they might *want* to be of aid.) I apologize if i come across as a story elitist or like i took the shipping thing too seriously, but... i think that shipping Zuke and Eve in a serious manner doesn't do them justice, and defeats the point of the moments between them that the game shows us. If you read through this all, thank you, and i wish you a good day.
@RAYMOND ZHOU That's fair. I am not as experienced with breaking up as many others might be, but i imagine if the pre-break-up relationship was in a true loving and hopeful base it would... hurt a lot, to say the least. Perhaps feel like the end of a world for some, and for someone as sensitive as Eve that might have been the case. But easy as it might be for me to say, it can be overcome with the right form of help. That might be a tough road to walk, and a slower and more difficult option than trying to find someone to fill the void, but in the long run it is a lot healthier. Thank you for the reply!
I really love the second album cover. Such an amazing interplay of game mechanic and story telling, and the subversion of your expectation adds that much more punch to the message. Sogood.
Ive been literally looking for that album cover ever since the game came out and I can't just find it? 😪 I just find one but it's with zoom and bad quality 😭

I really think tlou2 just overhyped itself and went way over their heads in being this super "video games are art uwu" mentality. Where if you're focused on making an engaging and fun game you obviously get a better reception, since you're just focused on making a fun experience I think that's the result that we get with NSR
Even does the "fundamentally toxic person" Better that TLOU2 TLOU2: No real change to Abby's character, Stays stagnant, loses friends and just falls into bursts of rage that never go anywhere. Ellie becomes more toxic throught the game yet never goes all the way, muddying the message. NSR: Has Eve slowly crumble away from what she was and requires an Extremely serious talk from Zuke to be more... normal (Kinder? IDK)? She doesn't get anything after, yet she's become a better person because of it.
Zuke: Don't worry, she has done this before. Mayday: She has sent you in a hellish red place with lots of HANDS and LEGS?! Zuke: ...What place with what? (Zuke got it easy)

@@declaringpond2276 She set his hair on fire, and Zuke mentions how “she’s done this before.” I don’t know about you but if your romantic partner’s way of communicating negatuve emotions to you is by either causing physical harm or sending you to the shadow realm, seems like a pretty big red flag to me. If it happened once then it’s just a mishap, an impulsive decision. But this happened multiple times as Zuke says, meaning that this is Eve’s way of coping with things. I am confident Eve is also stuggling with her own issues and demons, but that does not giver her the excuse to treat Zuke the way she did or however Zuke says it happened.
@@rpcsa8he probably didnt mean it in the way to be “abusive” lmfao. Her view of life is so distorted by her liking of art it harmed others by indulging in it too much. Nothing toxic happened. (the fire part)
In my playthrough, during her “mutual hate” cutscene, it’s not animated nearly as well. The Tatiana statue also still has the chair even though she shape shifted from the chair. It’s a small detail but that combined with the less impactful animation felt like a big difference.
Zuke doesn’t have more development than May, Zuke is a grown man who already developed himself, he wasn’t against/mad/sad about Eve, he was concerned because he developed and learn when they broke up about how Eve was feel the art she made, but unfortunately he couldn’t understanding with the passion she has for it, Zuke shows that there are demons that can haunt you even if you already grow as a person, he shows that you don’t have to defeat them but learn to live with them, that’s what i love about Zuke. while Mayday is more of a childish teenager, she is rebel and crazy-like, but those kind of things drain her to learn and open her mind to the possibilities, like both EDM and rock helping the city, and at the end of her journey she learns that everything is unique and special in its on way and even addressed that she isn’t actually ready to be a NSRtist !! she just free herself from the bandage coverings her eyes by the end of the game and know it’s time to explore the world without it. anyways i think Eve and May should be girlfriends in this essay i.
12:17 The mind, the vision, the will to create anything you want however you want. The only thing you can't make is a sure fire cure for a broken heart 💔
I feel bad for Eve... Her way of thinking is extraordinary and still she tries to fit in. She thought, she found a soul mate in Zuke, but her heart got shattered. This behavior is a cry for help of a broken person.
Oh she is painfully relatable. I was in a nearly identical (didn’t light anyone’s head on fire but you know) situation a couple years ago, it being the only break up I have ever had. Really accepting the fact there might be nobody out there who is compatible with you really is an extremely hard pill to swallow, especially after once getting a glimpse of what that could have been like. In a world filled with “there’s someone out there for everyone” mindsets, not being able to find someone who shares your vision can feel so crushing. Learning how to truly love yourself, and live for yourself, even in a world that is not understanding of you, is a long and hard journey. I have not even really seen a situation like this depicted in a story before, so getting to discover this meant a lot
How cool would it be if there was a bigger "threat" than NSR and some of the "villains" became playable chatacters in a dlc! I would love to play eve or sayu!
I love eve’s style honestly The tree of good and evil using zukes hair (strange as that was the stoke that made him leave her ) the snake around her neck Her name is eve ?
Old video, but still. What gets me most about this is that throughout the fight, Zuke calls EvE by her stage name as everyone else does. However, in the last talk he finishes with her true name. This to me shows Zuke still cares for her. That he truly never gave up on her.
Yea it's CREEPY. While I mean yea sure smth could happen where they could get back together n b happy or whatever but like. W how the game shows them that ain't gonna happen n the shippers just need to say they like toxic shit n get help
It definitely was a thing back then when they were still partners but after that point the amount of toxicity makes it impossible for them to get back together

Rejection (especially by her fp) causes her to breakdown, and then she isolates herself.
You can see how the level compliment zuke rather than mayday since not only eve favors zuke over mayday but it's the level that made it tough for her and how easy it was for zuke
Zuke has swift movement as stated in the beginning but the level for him was mostly cake walk
Mayday was slow but packed a punch but Eve's hate for her made it difficult
You can see it from this gameplay that zuke had way more health then mayday and how less he needed to heal while she was always staying afloat.this boss battle really ties well with the whole preference thing eve sees
Tbh, I only used the vine special from Mayday and generally played *Don't touch me* with eve
To be fair it's only Zuke who can perceive her art and poetry
Eve never like that side of her face kinda neat attention to detail
Gameboy _ so I guess the hated side is for mayday nice one spotting that
Well it also symbolizes Eve’s bipolar disorder. The white side is her tranquil state, where she holds her creative side, while the pink side is her chaos, her manic depressive side where her stresses only feed the chaos within her. Mayday is that obstacle so of course she has it harder.
I feel like Eve is more of an artist artist than a music artist.
Indeed, It shows in her collection items, She makes music but she's clearly more into art than audio.
With all of the bosses, their aesthetic are supposed to contextualize and compliment their music. Art is Eve's branding.
her beats still slap tho
Extremely underrated comment
This comment is so well thought-out and structured
Eve definitely has some kinds of dysphoria/ mental disorder due to how she views herself and how she perceives others perceiving her. Her art and music seems to be a reflection of her trying to channel her feelings of herself into something physical and understandable. At least, that’s what I think
Ya know what would fix this game in the eyes of the critics? Making your attacks deal more damage if they're on beat. Perfect.
“EMOTIONAL damage!”
This city is full of demigods and aliens, I like it
And the robots and the fake mermaid
A vocaloid mermaid and cyborg bts....perfect

“Remember when I was the tectonic plates and you were the sea? The heat we channeled when your waves broke upon my earth was euphoric!” I’m hearing this and I can’t help but imagine Eve and Zuke at some point were intimate back when they were in college.
Dude same. She said that and I was like... "Damn that dick was good huh?"

Yeah, those choices of words sounded... errotic...
Green Guy Geno To be fair, some well-known art is viewed as erotic so if that was intended, it fits
I mean I thought it too i brushed it off then do west said zuke was a ladies man back then so it’s a possibility
Love her character design tho, the abstract on her are soo unique and exotic!!! Her sassy personalities really fit her well (even tho i don't like sassy much) make her boss stage like this wacky gucci vibe abstract party sassy girl!! Sorry for long post, i just really love her design and all.
Feels like something out of an pop art painting (also the gap in her teeth was pretty clever)
@@a.m5909 DUDE!! I KNOW RIGHT!!
Taking in consideration that her 2 colors represent Nadia/Eve and Love/Hate also was a selling point for me.
Eve being the sassy party girl and Nadia being the girl that Zuke (probably) loved.
The art in this game is phenomenal.
Poor zuke, "don't worry May, this is one of many toxic things she's done to me it's all good"
She has done this before
So she can create an entire dimension where she can transcend space to separate people
How the hell can she do that

Use the Mod Burning Hair fashion for an idea.
How is it we got way more character developments from Zuke (his relationship with DC West and EVE) than May when May is suppose to be the lead protagonist?
She gets her big development moment during her boss fight with Tatiana.

I mean the fact that she feels that she needs someone or else she's unless, not that she snapped at Zuke (the fact she got so angry still isn't okay, but I can absolutely understand why she did)
I've never seen a character in a game or any other media with the same issue that I have, so I love Eve to death. Not to mention we are both artists :)
Sorry for rambling, had to get my thoughts out somewhere
I cried too ;x;
I think your relation with Eve is beautiful
Honestly same. I love and hate , how I relate to her. Because it isn't healthy but they displayed those issues in her character really well
To be fair, her anger is not unfounded either: from what I understand, Zuke didn't just leave the relationships, he kinda just vanished.

Her voice acter did brilliantly in this
Garnet: Your soulmate is your complement, not your missing piece. Whatever hole there is in your life, Eve, I want you to understand that Zuke won’t be able to fill it.
@@BBHong she actually said it but using "Steven" and "Connie"
It doesn't help that EVE kinda looks like a steven universe gem herself. Maybe a fusion of sorts?
Perfectly Said, starter
Bro, I can most definitely see Garnet saying that.
Out of all the NSR artists, I feel like Eve could really used some extra polish and playtesting in her boss fight.
I agree some parts were an absolute nightmare, loved her character tho
@RAYMOND ZHOU wtf don't ship 2 characters that literally broke up
Her painting teleportation is really bad especially, she has no animation for leaving the painting. Also the back of the hands in the Divas realm stick out from the portals, so it doesn’t look like it’s coming out the portal, it just looks like the hands have an odd effect around them.
@RAYMOND ZHOU Apologies for butting in here as a complete random person, but my thoughts on the "Zuke/Eve" thing are as following:
It can't happen.
(Emphasis on "capable", for not everyone is good to try and get help from, as much as they might *want* to be of aid.)
I apologize if i come across as a story elitist or like i took the shipping thing too seriously, but... i think that shipping Zuke and Eve in a serious manner doesn't do them justice, and defeats the point of the moments between them that the game shows us.

TLOU2: We gotta make this game the best there is no game with better story telling and lore than us!

I really think tlou2 just overhyped itself and went way over their heads in being this super "video games are art uwu" mentality.
Where if you're focused on making an engaging and fun game you obviously get a better reception, since you're just focused on making a fun experience I think that's the result that we get with NSR
Ellie was always trash without Joel joel had it coming sadly and Abby was alright it was rushed though
Persona 5 Royal: (stands there looking Chad as hell)
Even does the "fundamentally toxic person" Better that TLOU2
TLOU2: No real change to Abby's character, Stays stagnant, loses friends and just falls into bursts of rage that never go anywhere.

She set his hair on fire, and Zuke mentions how “she’s done this before.” I don’t know about you but if your romantic partner’s way of communicating negatuve emotions to you is by either causing physical harm or sending you to the shadow realm, seems like a pretty big red flag to me.

When they showed the chair with the music I thought I was seeing an ad
IKEA sure is getting creative.
In my playthrough, during her “mutual hate” cutscene, it’s not animated nearly as well. The Tatiana statue also still has the chair even though she shape shifted from the chair. It’s a small detail but that combined with the less impactful animation felt like a big difference.
I love how May & Zuke just doesn't tell her they're just friends (or at least they were just brofist-ting)
