It makes sense that the games compensate for each playstyle. Nice attention to detail, can’t lie.
Am i the only one that has a feeling that Yuni's Mother represents the mothers that are blinded by their kid's success saying them to only do it again, and again, as Yuni's mom told her to play, then again, and then last time which made her daughter go insane hating everyone, that explains the final moment at the boss battle when she cuts off from the outside world by going up on a rose of her "success and beauty"
It's ironic that people only focus on "bbj broke the father's piano" when the real issue is the distance both mother and daughter got because of grief.
51:53 I think that's the first time in a long time that yinu truly smiled and loved the music she was playing and a long time that she and her mother had played from their hearts and not for the stage but when they played for each other to smile.
How come nobody is mentioning that Sayu’s music devolves when you destroy any of her “components” that aren’t the art (i.e. the vocals going quiet when the music one is destroyed)? It’s such a cute detail.
god, compared to Subatomic Supernova and Sayu's victory albums/cutscenes, Yinu's is so sad lmao going from dunking SS's helmet (head?) into a basketball hoop and sending him blasting off like Team Rocket and reverse mermaid Sayu in a fishbowl and Mayday praising the teens for making Sayu, to Mayday smashing Yinu's piano, which is Extremely Important to her, and the fact that Yinu never really wanted to fight and wasn't even that into EDM, it was her mother pushing her to do it (because like. the fight gets more EDM-heavy the more Mother takes control of the performance from Yinu, and Yinu's final crazy piano isn't even EDM or Rock, because the meter doesn't know what to do) same thing with going from 1010 to eve, it feels like they put 1010 between Yinu and eve to try and lighten the mood a bit haha either way the game is incredible, the music and art design are so good, i'm just sad that the gameplay isn't. the best, tragically. especially on switch

BBJ still needed to stand against NSR to help change things and they meant well the whole time, but they just didn't really Think Too Hard About It and that almost ruined everything
The placement of each boss in the chronology of the game is honestly a very clever way of easing into the idea that Zuke and MayDay might actually may be the in the wrong in this story.
As someone who spent their childhood learning to play the piano, I really appreciated all the little details in Yinu’s battle. A masterpiece well-made, I’d say. Whatever Mayday thinks.
This game has SO much personality, it has so much time and detail into it and I absolutely love it. All the character designs are so unique and fun and I especially love that every final showdown isn’t the same every time like some games might make them, like with 1010, May was really upset about it. I love details like that, it makes me really happy!
After the fight with Yinu I had one of those "are we the baddies?" moments. Then after that fight with 1010 I realized "sonofabitch, we're the baddies."
Fr Zuke and Mayday really broke into a concert to destroy a nine-year old's piano, then wrecked the pride and dignity of a traumatized war veteran (Neon J. even tries to shield 1010 from the Finisher in the same way a soldier takes a bullet for a comrade). Despite Yinu's young age, she is absolutely right (backed up by Tatiana) when she accuses BunkBed Junction of only wanting to destroy music that they hate not much different than NSR. The only silver lining is Yinu's Mother finally realizing how far she pushed her own child.
59:33 probably my favourite part about 1010 was not only there music, but there concept, an extremely loved boy band with various implications of the military with there general (I don’t know his actual name) calling out commands and the battle ship being where you fight, as well as when you actually fight the general he uses weapons like grenades and missiles (if it isn’t obvious enough already I really like this boss fight)
I'd like to think that this was an intentional connection, especially since boy bands go through rigorous training and endure LONG hours of practice to basically become the perfect boy band, and the military pretty much does the same thing, putting soldiers through rigorous training and, again, LONG hours of practice to shape them into the perfect weapons.
Yeah, it’s my second favorite fight in the game . Btw, the guys name is Neon J. It’s another play on the boy bands name, 1010. The letter “J” is the tenth letter of the alphabet and Neon is the tenth element on the periodic table. So the name of the band is a reference to both their creators actual name and the 1s and 0s in binary since they’re all robotic. So much detail and thought just for a backstory for just one of the bosses, just the way it should be.👍
The thing that's makes me even more sad is that her piano is her father's one, that's why it's seems precious to her. The fact that she have to fight when she is just a 9 years old child is violent, poor little one 🥺❤️
As a fan of both rock and EDM, I really like this. It seems that it is making fun of what music was like these days. Some rock fans personally dislike EDM because they believe that real music is made with actual instruments and not synthesizers on a computer. Lots of EDM artists were inspired by rock and some like Skrillex even had their own rock band at one point. Of course no genre is more superior than others and everyone have the right to musical opinions.
Just finished this game and here's my review: It's awkward controls did NOT make up for it's super tedious gameplay, but it's story was just🥺MAGICAL! The power of genre doesn't belong to any one artist, organization, or corporation. The knowledge of the arts belongs to us all. LONG LIVE ROCK!

Tatiana was wrong to go so hard in excluding rock artists like BBJ, but rock isn't inherently superior than EDM either (or any other genre). It's why it took ALL of them to destroy the incoming satellite together, because accepting all musical tastes is the only way to truly improve and unify the city of passionate creators.
No Straight Roads 2: No more Music. Mayday and Zuke have two huge fans who are almost exactly like them. They have to save the world of music from a music hating leader.
Or a prequel DLC of the Goulings. NSR DLC: The Beginning Where we explore more of Tatianas past of the goulings and how they took control of Vinyl city. With the also fall of the Goulings. Or a DLC on Maydays backstory more
Mayday being more upset at having to destroy 1010 than she is about everything during the YINU fight makes me kind of angry but in an inexplicable way. Idk how to describe the feeling lol
I think Mayday was upset at the end of Yinu's fight (you can see Mayday looking somberly at Yinu and her mother playing piano together 51:54 showing that Mayday was feeling remorse), but Mayday doesn't want to admit that she did anything wrong. We see this again right before Tatiana's fight, when Tatiana accuses Mayday of not knowing how to run the city if she wins and Mayday can only give a "we'll figure it out" reply because Tatiana's accusation was correct. It's only after facing Kliff that Mayday finally admits that she messed up.
I’d say Tatiana is firmly in the wrong here. Zuke and Mayday got snubbed at their auction despite preforming well and producing the same amount of energy as NSR, just because Tatiana and her artists have a bias against rock. If she had been fair and hadn’t banned rock because of her petty grudges, then Zuke and May wouldn’t have junked up her city.
I think that's kinda the point of Tatiana's heel face turn: its kindda not shown too much but its clear that she realises she was in the wrong (likely because she realised that her own foes themselves had a point and weren't jsut in it for power like she assumed). Yes Zuke and Mayday did wrong sorta, but Tatiana's the one who started it. Thankfully, the game acknowldges this and has the antagonist apologise for her own actions, albeit i wished we got shown her change a bit better.
DJ SS is probably dead, there has been thousands of dollars in destroyed technology, yinu is permanently emotionally scarred, and the only boss who didn’t get a bad part was eve
Anyone else notice in the fight against Yinu that the EDM only kicks in after her mother gets involved? and that the rock music takes over for a short amount of time when shes not actively attacking us/is protecting Yinu until later in the fight?
I don't think I'll ever be able to forget this game. It's so incredible and yet so simple with a bittersweet ending and a nice future endeavor. Not to mention the designs are so much fun to look at and study.
Why’d It take so long to Realize that the ‘People’ at Planetarium were just watching him Rant on Stage, Lounging with his Dodo Icepops, Until a Rock Duo Busted in?
Can we appreciate on the Yinu boss fight, the meter going crazy at the end? For me it was literally like her not really caring about Rock or EDM, she was just having a tantrum about the amount of pressure, and that while it was her performance, she was the "boss", she didnt even get the spotlight. The music almost stopped being hers after a bit. The fight stopped being about her. And she was MAD. She didnt care about the sides, she just wanted it to be what it normally was. HER performance. I might be reading too much into it, but I love it.
Don't ya love how DK could barely speak english during the cutscenes but could fluently speak English during the fight, dude would do anything to try and shit on Zuke. Omg, if just the boss fights and ending sum up to 2hrs, I can't imagine how long the full game is😨
I gotta say... Eve's fight hit kinda close to home for me. I've never been in a relationship with someone, it's not that. More that I know how it feels, the idea that nobody really understands me. Of course, I know that it's most likely untrue, but it's just one of those things that I can't help but feel, there in the back of my mind. If anyone else out there feels that way too, I just wanna let you all know, you're not alone.
1:54:39 now i understand this part shows they didn’t end up any better than when they started but let’s be real here. EDM with the combined efforts of five-ish separate artists ended up producing the exact same amount of power compared to these 2 working solo. That’s gotta be some form of improvement.
Man this is such an underrated masterpiece of an indie game, gameplay wise it needs some refinements aswell a bunch of bug fixes but everything else feels like a passion project made with alot of heart, sweat and tears. Truly one of the best experiences I've ever had with a video game in my life
Anyone notice that 1010's boss, the cyborg, is giving army commands, such as securing the perimeter, stand down, fire, lock on target, and preemptive strike?
I feel like DJSSN should have been a boss way later into the story, I mean his design and character concept are both sick, plus I mean like, the dude’s got cosmic powers and seemingly some level of reality warping, you’d think he’d be more than the starter “getting to know the game” boss
NSR is a rhythmic Game were you fight a Scientist DJ, a Pop Vtuber, Mozart two and their endearing mother, along with many more crazy cooky characters. In this game you fight these “Villains” with your radically rapturous rock powers, channeling them through your chicken drumsticks and your rock guitarre, while an epic beat sets the mood for beating the shit out big EDM. These beats can range in styles, from classical to lady gaga- but a cool quirky rhythm game thing is that as you whoop their ass, the song will slowly gain more rock elements. When the big bad finally gives up, our anime protagonists will launch a saiyan blast at them, causing severe paralysis for many days. This has been a Max0r-esque summary of No heterosexual infrastructures.
One thing I find funny in this game is that rock is banned because they say it can’t make good music when a ton of the greatest songs made in real life are of rock/rock and roll genre
The DJ West Bossfights, I admit at first were not the greatest on the surface. The lyrics seemed rather forced and the performance was lackluster for being a rap battle. But recalling the earlier events, and how the third fight really opened up how the dynamic between brothers was something more realistic, how his own brother's success caused a lot of anxiety and doubt about he hated his brother because of his success, and how it was all a big misunderstanding. It was never about the performance at all. Maybe I should give this game a better chance. Maybe I should give other games I thought were bad a second go around too. Maybe I saw it in the wrong lens.
I just randomly clicked on this video not knowing about this game. But I’m impressed with the visuals! The art direction of this game is gorgeous!! The story I’m a little confused on, however. But I guess this is only showing the boss battles so I’m not getting the full experience. But basically I don’t really get why the protagonists are fighting some of the bosses? Seems like some of the bosses had no reason to fight. Namely the mermaid v-tuber and the prodigy piano girl.
Tatiana, the lady who runs the city, started a music contest to help power Vinyl City, but she put an explicit ban on rock music and the protags didn't like that, so they revolted against her and the musicians that work as her underlings.
This game has a very niche concept use the power of rock and roll, I like the message at the end, we are all different but if we unite as one we can overcome any obstacle.
so 5 EDM made 47% energy but TWO rock people made the SAME amount? maybe rock could have won? if there was more people in the bunkbed junction they would have proved the NSR wrong?
Yeah, they don't exactly explain how energy is generated. My guess is "per song", and that since they went to the artists one by one, hijacking their concerts, that their music was basically 6 songs and that the nsr people played one song each, and mayday and Zuke still played 6 songs, assuming that the fights are not exactly fights, but music fights. So they produced the same energy in 6 songs. Which also statistically would mean that if they played more types of music it produce more energy, so I think the game just wanted to say "why don't we all play together"
somehow the idea that all this happened in under 24 hours is absolutely exhausting. then i remember tatiana's entire boss fight was time related and she just kept rewinding time through the whole thing makes it worse.

I would actually like a No Straight Roads 2.
No Straight Roads 2: No more Music.
Mayday and Zuke have two huge fans who are almost exactly like them. They have to save the world of music from a music hating leader.

Mayday being more upset at having to destroy 1010 than she is about everything during the YINU fight makes me kind of angry but in an inexplicable way. Idk how to describe the feeling lol
Because it shows her inability too sympathize. She only seems to feel regret for things that hurt her personally.
Not firmly, the point is that they both screwed up, Tatiana was biased against rock but bbj shouldn’t have resorted to violence, so it’s pretty even
DJ SS is probably dead, there has been thousands of dollars in destroyed technology, yinu is permanently emotionally scarred, and the only boss who didn’t get a bad part was eve
@@BubbaMassacre . . . Eve was pretty much fucked up before she Even joined NSR
But that whole thing was resolved during the fight, she’s the only no losses ending fight

Anyone else notice in the fight against Yinu that the EDM only kicks in after her mother gets involved? and that the rock music takes over for a short amount of time when shes not actively attacking us/is protecting Yinu until later in the fight?
I like that each fight tells a lesson about a specific genre like 1010 talking about how boy bands are a dime a dozen
2:00:39 I just love how fast that elevator went down just so Tatiana could walk over and upper cut Kliff and returned to the elevator 😂😂😂

These Mfs really fought a Vtuber bro, deadass

You Can Hear That West Is On the Verge Of Tears After The Second Battle
Pain. Agony even. 😢
Well thats what happens when you treat your loved ones like crap.
I’m glad I’m not the only one that struggled in Eve’s fight, goddamn so much shit was going it was hard to focus, still fun as fuck
Eve is a headache, for both you and bbj, dunno why they made her harder than Tatiana tho
Don't ya love how DK could barely speak english during the cutscenes but could fluently speak English during the fight, dude would do anything to try and shit on Zuke.
Omg, if just the boss fights and ending sum up to 2hrs, I can't imagine how long the full game is😨

"Leave this to me!"
*Gets hit three times in like five seconds*
I gotta say... Eve's fight hit kinda close to home for me.
I've never been in a relationship with someone, it's not that. More that I know how it feels, the idea that nobody really understands me. Of course, I know that it's most likely untrue, but it's just one of those things that I can't help but feel, there in the back of my mind. If anyone else out there feels that way too, I just wanna let you all know, you're not alone.
for those who wonder what language DK west speaks in, it's called Malay.
For those who don't know - ost version of dk west 2 have way more lyrics than actual fight.
1:54:39 now i understand this part shows they didn’t end up any better than when they started but let’s be real here. EDM with the combined efforts of five-ish separate artists ended up producing the exact same amount of power compared to these 2 working solo. That’s gotta be some form of improvement.
It's kinda meant to show that a monoculture of any kind is never going to work for everyone. I think...
Still can’t believe the killed Sayu, when the team was literally being Zuke’s wingman 💀
Sayu dk west eve yinu and 1010 has to be my favorite boss fights
2:00:39 Without a doubt the best scene in the game
SHORYUKEN!!!
His parasocial ass deserved it
Man this is such an underrated masterpiece of an indie game, gameplay wise it needs some refinements aswell a bunch of bug fixes but everything else feels like a passion project made with alot of heart, sweat and tears. Truly one of the best experiences I've ever had with a video game in my life
Anyone notice that 1010's boss, the cyborg, is giving army commands, such as securing the perimeter, stand down, fire, lock on target, and preemptive strike?
Wait, so Eve is basically demanding Zuke to sit on her lap?
I feel like DJSSN should have been a boss way later into the story, I mean his design and character concept are both sick, plus I mean like, the dude’s got cosmic powers and seemingly some level of reality warping, you’d think he’d be more than the starter “getting to know the game” boss
whoever the VA for DJ SS sounds like he had a fun time

Im not surprised that the most replayed scene is 1010 when they are posing for the camera
This whole game: ZUKE DO YOU REMEMBER COLLEGE!?
gotta say i seriously relate to dj subatomic supernova
This the first time ive laid down and watched a whole video on a topic i like without moving
The Yinu fight could be a final battle in another game.

I'm feeling so bad for this little girl with her mother and for EvE. yes I also like 1010 but they had a tragic story

"You broke my nose! Gah!"
so 5 EDM made 47% energy but TWO rock people made the SAME amount? maybe rock could have won? if there was more people in the bunkbed junction they would have proved the NSR wrong?
Yeah, they don't exactly explain how energy is generated. My guess is "per song", and that since they went to the artists one by one, hijacking their concerts, that their music was basically 6 songs and that the nsr people played one song each, and mayday and Zuke still played 6 songs, assuming that the fights are not exactly fights, but music fights. So they produced the same energy in 6 songs. Which also statistically would mean that if they played more types of music it produce more energy, so I think the game just wanted to say "why don't we all play together"
Thats the weird thing that there were no sunset until the final scene
somehow the idea that all this happened in under 24 hours is absolutely exhausting. then i remember tatiana's entire boss fight was time related and she just kept rewinding time through the whole thing makes it worse.
@@SethHisoka i thought whole thing happened in span of 5-6 days
