is there a left to right adjustment on these headlights ?
mines pointed at yellow line
Honestly, I am going to check on things like this before I ever buy another vehicle. It should never be this difficult to change a bulb. Great video.
I thank you thank you. The dealer wanted $312 for the bulb alone. With labor $505. Purchased correct bulbs from Amazon for $30. Took maybe an hour to install. Very informative video..

Was it a HID bulb?
FYI for everyone with an Acadia with HID's - this video is NOT completely correct in the procedure. I have a 2014 GMC Acadia Denali with HID's, and - there is NO SPRING CLIP. This is so important to understand, let me say that again - there is NO SPRING CLIP holding the bulb in. It is held in with a black wing nut, there are black tabs on either side of the bulb. You must twist these tabs to take out the bulb.
Who the hell makes it this difficult to change a light bulb?! This is crazy. Thanks for the video though.

Manufacturers don't want us simpletons doing our own work. Keep the shops and dealers busy.
I have to say a big thank you for this video. The lightbulb is expensive enough and to have it installed is ridiculous. After watching this my son and myself changed out my bulb and we used a T 20 wrench to take the covering off above the wheel. And, not all GMC Acadia’s have the HID headlight. Make sure you know which bulb to replace. Mine is an HID.
Working on my 2010 Buick Enclave CXL as we speak. Great video. Just wanted to add that the bulb doesn’t just pull out. There is a plastic piece that has to be turned left (counter-clockwise) before it can pulled out. Reach in and feel for it. Go left.
Thanks for posting this. I had to replace an HID bulb on a GMC Acadia with this setup, and your comment helped 👍
my gosh.. before all we had to do was open the hood and reach back and remove the bulb.
C Jahmal I was just about to say the same thing. Wtf, disconnect the battery? Then paneling?
Vehicles have changed 🤣
Thank you for the video, without it, I would have been flummoxed. The 2011 Acadia I worked on, was slightly different in that I had to turn the bulb to get it out (and of course back in). Thanks again!
If your taking that liner out, DYI'er, after disconnecting the battery, jack the side up and remove the wheel next.
I bet he was really thanking whoever put the tire shine on

Very good video thank you guys
I wish you showed to install the high beam bulb also. Is there enough room to access it like the hi-lo beam or does the entire assembly need to be removed?
Keep in mind that not all Acadias have HID bulbs. Mine has the halogen bulbs so the procedure is different.
Thanks for the comment and watching. +Kevin Miller
Great video but you did not give a part #. I did click on the buy the part below and after filling in the info I was offered T-shirts, some type of small wrench, and fog lamps. I never did come up with the part # for the bulb!
My problem is slightly different - I have condensation inside the plastic headlight assembly. The light has always been aimed low (I bought the car used from CarMax) so I expected to find the bulb not installed correctly , especially since the condensation showed up in the past few weeks. I thought I could just open the hood and remove and re-install the bulb (like in the old days) or easily remove and re-install the whole assembly (like my GMC pickup at work). I had half the front end of the car apart and was well into my second beer before I looked at this video. Great video, thanks, but if the morons who design cars now had to work on them, they would be designed differently. I was never able to fix the condensation problem (yet) and after this mess and other stupid design flaws in this car, I'll never buy another GMC. But, thanks for the video!
Thanks for the comments and for watching! Good luck! +Jeff Carlson
Would you happen to know the 2012 acadia Denali HID bulb sz?
Thanks. Great video. Is the plug that connects to the light connected to the ballast or to the headlight assembly. When i did this my bulb blew twice and i am trying to figure out why.
Very informative!
Great video!
Very informative- Thanks

Unbelievable DIY Video! BUT, I went to the sight referenced below and there wasn't the part you installed for me to purchase.
I used to hold engineers in such high esteem until I saw this....
Took me 20min total. It honestly wasn’t that bad. GM could’ve been easier though.

Almost fully informative for me lol, what I need to know is what type of bulb is the high beams? I know the low beam are D1S but what type are the high beams?
I replaced mine but it still won't turn on. Now on the inside the retainer is missing so I just put it in and I used a piece of tape to hold it in place until I can get the retainer. But do I have to have that retainer thing inside of there in order for it to work?
GOOD VIDEO , CAN I GET THE LINK TO ORDER THAT BULB FOR MY 2014 ACADIA
So in summary. Just have the dealership do it when I am getting the car serviced.

is it necessary to disconnect the battery? I dont see any type of work being done with hot wires or anything that would seem to actually require that but I was just curious. Also, I thought there may be a capacitor that would still hold the charge even if you disconnected the battery? I am getting ready to do this job and I appreciate this video. I was also just wondering if you disconnect the battery what all will that reset on the denali? Clocks, oil change service tracking etc?
I just did this job and couldnt have done it without this video. I only removed the 7 screws in the wheel well and did not take out the whole fender liner like the video. I went ahead and disconnected the battery as this video shows and the only thing I seemed to lose was the clock which needed to be reset and that was easy enough. Everything else remained including trip gages, oil change tracking etc. I found the spring clip very hard to get off and i had to stick a screw driver up by the HID light to press on the clip to get it to come off. I also found the space needed to be very tight. You essentially have to feel your way around with just a hand and you cant see much. I broke the burnt out bulb pulling it out but was able to get the new bulb in without much work. Definitely the worst setup ive personally ever seen in order to change a bulb in a headlight. Thanks for the video.
Matt F did you have the spring clip behind the bulb
Yes it was holding the bulb in place
Don't see a spring clip behind mine and seems to be tight not loose at all
Hmm are you able to pull the bulb out?
Thank you

So, I don't have the spring clips holding the bulb. How do I remove the bulb as it is very secure?
Joel Garza I have the same issue
Same here.
Same here! Where you ever able to figure it out or did you have to take it to someone?
My 2014 holds the HID bulb with a black rotating mechanism. Half turn counter clockwise to unlock then gently pull out the bulb. There is no clip holding it at all. It needs to be careful work but do-able.
Joel Garza, Working on my 2010 Buick Enclave CXL as we speak. Great video. Just wanted to add that the bulb doesn’t just pull out. There is a plastic piece that has to be turned left (counter-clockwise) before it can pulled out. Reach in and feel for it. Go left.
Will This Work On A 2015 Model ?.. I Seen Another Video Where The Headlight Setup is Different?..
Is there a fuse for the headlights for the 2014 acadia?
Should I remove the light bulb an drive vehicle to get new bulb cause they say there's a few different styles that will work? It sounds dangerous it's wet here
Hi, I appreciated your teaching. Can someone please help me here to find right rear door molding Chrome for my 2015 Acadia Denali.? Thanks !
I’ve tried and tried and tried to get my HID bulb assembly out of the headlight housing, and I simply can’t get it to come out. I’m working on the ground not on a lift. I have my wheel well liner removed. The tire is still on, but pointed away from the workspace. I can get my hand on the back of the bulb assembly and I have taken the spring clip off. But I simply can’t get the bulb removed from the housing. I really don’t want to have to take my entire bumper off and remove the headlight assembly. I don’t know what to do from here. What can I do?
Dear Lord... I know, my headlight is out. It's time for a trade-in. This is what they are thinking when they designed this, right?
yes, new car. this isn't worth it. when our car runs out of gas i tell the kids it's time to get a new car too
My headlight is strobing is it the bulb or the ballast
My passenger side bulb is doing the same thing. Just so I don't have to revisit this in the future, I'm replacing the ballast and the bulb.
4:48 Post Wheel Well Removal
Just take the tire off. Its waaaaay easier that way
+r k Thanks for checking us out! 1aau.to/m/Shop-1AAuto-c
Great video but it won't clip back on
Trust me. Until someone does an in depth where they break down every inch of install and uninstall, just take it and have the dealer replace it. This is the worst design ever. Some have a clip, some have a piece of plastic that you turn. Either way if you are not a contortionist dont bother. Not trying to sound negative but after 2hrs your patience will run out! Lol🤷🏾♂️🤦🏾♂️
+The Baldwins Thanks for the feedback!
Great video. Terrible engineering by GM.
is there any danger of it holding a charge even if i remove the battery ? i am scared of electricity lol and I have a 2013 is it going to be similar or the same as this ?
+Devin Waaland If you unplug the battery you should be fine. 1aauto.com
Will never buy a gmc again
Absolute waste of time. Take the front screws out of the fender liner-- what a joke.
