    I must admit! Your video was well explained, simple & in people watch & listen ITS SO MF EASY!!!! After body shop telling me the “whole headlight” would have to be replaced, one headlight being more than $1700, I wasn’t doing it so I asked for my car back! Stuck with no option but to try and figure it out, I found the cap under the hood and the back of the light! Started digging around on RUclips & found you!!! Thank you! For my non mechanic & non engine knowledge, single mom, no man around your video helped me changed my bulbs!! $28 later I got headlights!!! THANK YOU KIND SIR YOU’RE MF AMAZING!!!!

Drivers side bulb was out, he watched your video.... literally took him 5 minutes to change it, all came out really easy, even the clamp holding the bulb... so he actually changed the other one almost as quickly, he got his off amazon for 30 bucks.... so we will see how long it will last... Thanks for the video. He’s a happy camper,

    This is an absolutely perfect video. Saved me $300+ (dealer quote). I have a 2013 2SS with RS package and this video worked perfectly, explanation was awesome. My access to light was a little tighter due to engine being a V8, but process is the same. I cant thank you enough. It was hard getting the wiring plug off the existing bulb but as you said a screwdriver and a little patience and it came off. I purchased a Sylvania HID Xenon D1S (35W) bulb from Auto Zone. List price was $99.99 but they price matched Amazon at $79.99 and the color matched perfect. I am original owner and my other light was stock, this Sylvania matched color perfectly. Thanks again, this was such a relief saving me hundreds of dollars. I am not handy at all and this was simple to do.

      Hey bro I know this is a little late but what wxactly did you do to get the wiring plug off of the bulb? It’s super tight in the engine bay and I can’t really do it with a screw driver

    • @shumanatorsgarage8921
      @shumanatorsgarage8921  3 года назад

      Not too late bud, this is what its all about! Just like the video shows, that metal plug has to be squeezed, it has a spring action to it, and then a small screwdriver to pry it off a little. They are tight the first time and if you dont hold that spring action in at the same time, it wont happen. Watch the video closely at that point, that was litterally the first time I did it. Good luck!

    Good video, my 2012 2SS has the black connecting ring and it was the only hard part because it didn't want to turn, I have a very old flathead that I never use because the tip is rounded off and it worked good against the plastic part of the ring that protrudes from it.
    It was very humid today and after I got the new one in there was some light condensation on the inside of the lens, went over it with a heat gun on low and it cleared right up.
    Thanks for your help.

      If your referring to the original factory bulb, no mine just went out. If your is turning on for 15 seconds and then going out, it would not be a fuse. Sounds like it might be getting hot and shutting down. I would check the bulb and see what it looks like. Also check the color when it does come on, and compare to the other side. If its turning pink, its bad.

      No, that does not sound normal. You need to try to determine exactly where the sound and smell are coming from. Do both bulbs have to be good in order for lights to work or can you put just one new bulb on to see if that light bulb will turn on. Asking cause both my lights don't work only if I keep turning off and on on auto they will end up coming on

    • @shumanatorsgarage8921
      @shumanatorsgarage8921  4 года назад

      They should work independently. You can change one at a time. If they come on automatically and don't go out prior to you shutting them off, then Its probably not a bulb issue. You might want to test the switch. If it's on auto, obviously make sure it's dark. As you see in the video, I had to turn them on manually to test them, in the daylight.

      No I have not. Looks pretty easy to remove though. And I'm sure it could be painted.

    Does anyone know if I can buy that little white clip anywhere? The guy at the dealership checked my lights and all of a sudden my clip is missing I haven’t messed with that light at all neither has anyone else because it’s never had to be replaced then he tells me I have to buy a whole new headlight which is $1100 so I went to AutoZone and purchased one bulb for $160 and put it in myself and rigged it so it stays in place. I put the dust cap back on and started calling the junkyards to see if any of them have that clip but so far no luck. Does anyone have a suggestion on where I can order one of those white clips that hold the light in place?

    I did everything step by step as you did and bought the amazon HID’s you put up The lightbulbs Came working well, But is the driver side headlight that won’t turn on once I connected it to the gray cable it won’t turn on. I tested of the bulbs with the passenger side that are working well , so the bulbs aren’t the problem It just seems when I connect it to the gray cable it won’t work after that. Any suggestions? Thank you for your amazing video by the way it helped a lot

      Well, without being there its hard to say. You need to be sure the wiring harness is not damaged including the plug itself. If that same bulb works on the other side of the car, then its obviously not the bulb / ignitor, and likely not the switch. Check your high and low beams and see what happens. Could be a ground issue or a module, or a ballast.

      You cannot install a xenon bulb in a non-xenon lamp. There are aftermarket conversion kits out there, however I am not familiar with them and cannot make any recommendations.

      Halogen assemblies are awesome for upgrades. Never go for the RS package like I did. Morimoto lighting, and diodedynamics sell several conversion kits to upgrade to LED from halogen lamps. Super simple plug and play. Never go to HID lights. They are too expensive, and difficult to mess with. LED puts out the same light, beam pattern, color, and everything, and even shine further without blinding other drivers. I recommend looking into those sites I mentioned, and picking a conversion kit you want, you can even add the Halo lights fairly easily too. I'm currently trying to retrofit my 2010 2SS with halogen assemblies so I can upgrade to LED with ease, and save about 850 bucks. I hope all that helps in some way.

    At the 2 minute mark, I am having so much trouble just simply pulling the bulb out. It’s so frustrating. The box won’t spin counterclockwise for nothing no matter how much I tug at it. I don’t see a white ring but a black one instead 2012 RS. 😤
    I tried again. I guess I’m screwed to pay money. This vid gave me false hope.

      Do not try to turn the siver box. You turn the retaining ring only. That ring has to turn a little counter clockwise enough to unlock the bulb. Then pull the box straight out. Hope that helps.

      @@shumanatorsgarage8921 that ring around the silver box is surrounded by some black locking clip preventing me from turning ring attached to the light. I can feel the ridges on the ring but it won't turn for s***!! I may have to completely remove my air filter out just to be able to see. I can't see how to release and move the damn clip out my way and I don't have a small enough mirror to reflect how the black clip is keeping it held into place. I'll try again in the morning, in the sunlight. Unfortunately, your video is the most detailed and just about every other video on this is useless but you may not have had something blocking off the light from being pulled out. I really don't want to resort to taking off the entire bumper. I mean that black locking clip is the only thing stopping me in my tracks. I turned & pulled hard enough to break the damn thing if would be, it still won't move at all.

      I eventually did get the bulb out. It was tough as hell but Amazon lied and said the bulbs that you posted doesn't fit my car. So I bought Sylvania ZXE silverstar H13-9008. The damn bulbs don't even match up. It doesn't have that silver box. So I have to waste more time and just order the ones you posted instead. I just hope to god my bulb doesn't burn out by then. It's been a week.

      Glad you got it out! Not sure why yours was different or what it was. I cant say for sure if the bulbs I ordered will fit your application. I have heard some have a black ring but dont know what else is different about them. You will have to do some research on it. Good luck!
