- The college football game between North Carolina and NC State had an absolutely crazy ending as NC State pulled off a miraculous comeback in the final minutes to stun the Tar Heels 34-30. North Carolina took a 30-21 lead with two minutes left on a 50 yard field goal that seemingly put the game out of reach for NC State. On the next possession however, NC State scored in just two plays, as wide receiver Emeka Emezie came up with a 64 yard touchdown to make it 30-28. Then NC State was able to recover an onside kick and have a chance to tie or win the game. They took advantage of this chance and Emeka Emezie scored yet another touchdown to give NC State a shocking 34-30 lead with just one minute left. North Carolina got the ball back, but their last second heave to the end zone was intercepted and the Wolfpack held on for a huge 34-30 win over their rival.

Look up close State games over the years, we have seen this before, esp against Duke in the '80s and '90s. Onside kicks are for when you decide you want to win with 2:00 mins left. No big deal.

@AllGTG before this game, teams were 0-200ish when down 9 with 2 mins left. Before this game it was 100% lose percentage when down 9 with 2 mins left but they cant say 100 until the game is over hence 99.9%

So my dad is a UNC fan and I am state and we were at the game and he is actually the one who said watch you're going to score here kicking on sidekick recover it and then score again and we're going to lose and then I was the one who said I don't know Dad I think it's over I think we actually lost this one and it sure enough that happened so see if this comment just made me laugh so hard cuz it was the exact opposite of what you said.

From some one in Michigan. NC vs NCS is always a great rivalry game, especially when both teams are good. They always like to score a lot of points.
I like NCST because unc always kills MSU basketball. But it’s a underrated inner state rival. Fellow Mitten folk here too

UNC one of the few preseason top 10 teams that had high expectations only to have unmitigated diaster season.
Playing undisciplined and stupid will not win games.
Indiana was ranked Preseason #17. They just finished the season 2-10.
3-4 of preseason top 10 greatly underachieved and 8-9 of top 17.
UNC is always overrated. If they're not, then Duke is. And yes, I'm talking football.

That warms my heart. My grandpa is too and he stated it all with all my uncles and dad's and sisters and me and he's going to pass within 5 years, but the most heartbreaking call I ever got, was my grandpa called me (he never called me) and told me he was gonna have to sell his boat because he was getting too old. I've been fishing on that boat and driving it since I could hold the wheel steady and even before he let me operate the throttle. He had the boat at the beach and a trailer down in Atlantic city in NC and man it really got harder and harder to see him due to life and man, we hadn't been fishing in a few years when we used to go at least once a year.

I know there were a lot of great college football games this year, but I have no idea how this game doesn't get remembered as one of the best.

Nearly shit a brick watching this game. As a 2021 NC State grad, I couldn't be more proud. My buddies who had another semester to finish got to go to this game. Insane.

Was my 2nd ever game and took my dad for his Christmas present. Only 9 rows behind the pack bench. We knew there was a chance but thought it was over. My back is still fucked from all the jumping and yelling

UNC safety #9 had deep responsibility and was caught peaking into the backfield. BIG no no, especially in that situation. Same DB also could have and should have intercepted that last pass but got bullied. Basically, two catastrophic errors by the same DB lost the game in the end for UNC. No dog in this hunt, was just watching and SHOCKED by it!
Regardless of the errors, qb should be able to handle pressure and he couldve been the hero but he never handled pressure well his entire time at unc

Hey PSC, two highlights I wanted to bring to your attention because they’ve gone completely under the radar. First off, on either the first or second play from scrimmage in the second half of the BC Wake game, there was a spectacular end around for a touchdown. Unfortunately it was called back for a blindside block by the quarterback, but it still had some spectacular moves, and an offensive lineman who motored 50 yards down the field and took out two defenders. The other one was very specific to the fox broadcast of michigan ohio state. Going into halftime, they played outro music (a chill hip hop song) by an extraordinary coincidence, the beat synced up *exactly* with the UM band playing hail to the cictors.

I was at the game and I turned to my dad and confidently said we are going to score, get the onside kick, and score again…I thought I was being delusional 😭
As @BiffBuffChest pointed out, on the onside kick, #4 for NC goes "headhunting" on the kicker instead of blocking him (which is his assignment on most Special Teams Onside Kick plays). #4 even launches himself at the kicker's upper body (if he had actually made contact with the kicker's head it could have been called "Targeting"). Totally blown assignment -- the kicker should NEVER recover an onside kick.
I've lived in NC since 1985, but I have no dogs in the race. I cheer for both NC and State at times. I'm a Tennessee graduate -- so I've had my own living hell for a decade!

Something to consider, Mack Brown got a sizable pay increase in May 2021 along with his coaching staff when other state employees were losing their jobs due to COVID. No other state employee got a raise due to the budget freeze since the state legislature has not passed a budget in 2 years (not a joke) but we have to prioritize sports over everything else. Glad that investment paid off.
Wanted NC State to win but that roughing the passer call and calling pass interference on a ball thrown a mile out of bounds were ridiculous calls lol
Do you think it was potential pass interference that same play? As for the roughing the passer - they call that nowadays. It shouldn't be a penalty and that would never be called half a decade ago. Now you can't even finish a tackle or give any semblance that you added anything "extra" to a hit.

@@goose2760 Nah, college still has the uncatchable stipulation: "Defensive pass interference is contact beyond the neutral zone by a [defensive] player whose intent to impede an eligible opponent is obvious and could prevent the opponent the opportunity of receiving a *catchable* forward pass. When in question, a legal forward pass is catchable." It just gives the refs room to say if there's debate about whether it's catchable, then it's catchable. But unless the WR could jump 20 feet high I don't think this one was catchable.
