I'd love to hang out with Stan for a day or two. He's completely comfortable in his own skin without being intimidated by or trying to capitalize on his father's fame. Thanks Steve for documenting these stories. Stan should do a tour of small venues where he tells stories and plays songs like he's doing here. He lived the history.
Love Stan’s stories! And also great to hear him mention Marion Keisker - she doesn’t get the credit she deserves for the rock-n-roll explosion. She should be in the hall of fame!
I always love to hear Stan Perkins tell these stories about his daddy. He always makes me laugh when tells some of these stories too. 😄❤👍God sure did bless his daddy " Car Perkins ".
Lord mercy I’m so grateful for all interviews of Stan. Music historians take note, this man is a priceless treasure trove and storyteller. Amazingggg detailed memory.
Good song writer. Like he said, he wrote those songs in a short times. It seems like those song writers never get as much credit as they deserve. I hope they got the pay they deserved.
Always love hearing Stan share the history that he knows that aren’t told anymore but there is still a large audience for this. His stories are of people that started the business. Their legends made great stories of their life experiences that were never boring. Todays performers won’t be talked about like the legends are. The legends are special!
I grew up in west Tennessee, so Carl’s music is very special to me. Several years ago after I had moved to South Carolina I happened to be passing through Jackson, TN on the way to Memphis to play a few music gigs, and stopped at Pop’s Music. I struck up a conversation with this guy Chris who I think managed the store and he told me all about how he knew Carl. I told him I would love to meet Stan one day and he said next time I’m stopping by let him know because he stays in touch with him. So I got the dude’s number and let him know a day before when I was passing back through Jackson on the way home. Sure enough, Chris called back that morning saying that Stan was going to be at the music shop to meet me at like 12 o’clock noon so I quickly packed my stuff and made the morning drive from Memphis to Jackson, and sure enough when I got there, there was Stan. Each of us grabbed a guitar at the shop and played Movie Magg, Daddy Sang Bass, and he showed me some of his original songs. This dude had so many great stories. Stan is such an awesome individual, and I will always remember the fact that he went out of his way and took the time to meet up with some guy he had never met!
Found Stan’s episodes on Spa Guy , and was excited to find this episode too. Could listen to his stories all day . He should read for audio books, lol.
Stan is a good man and I love to hear him play the guitar. I have written about 30 or more songs in my time but only know three chords.G C and D. I wrote (Merry Christmas Elvis) after Elvis passed away and now it is on You Tube called (Merry Christmas Elvis by Brandon McPhee) give it a listen. Stan I wished I had know you maybe I could have learned the Guitar. I went to one of your dads concerts and he was great, i'll never forget that night. God bless You (Mac)
I’m so glad Stan talked about Luther Perkins. I had heard about Luther Perkins and I thought Luther was karl Perkins brother. I also had heard Luther was killed in a tragic gas station fire. Like lit a cigarette while pumping gasoline.
Yeah that sounds like something Willie would do. Good song. Yeah now that makes me remember I’ve heard that. Willie used to come out to pooties when we were out there watching James Hand. One time we were there, listening to James Hand and Kevin Fowler came in and did a couple of songs. Then really late like at about midnight Willie came in. There was a bunch of people with him. We loved it. I was in a position to the left side of the place where a high table was. I stood up on the rungs of the stool and took a pic of Willie through the crowd between heads. Lol but it turned out really good. So I printed it out and stuck it on the wall of my office. People walked through my office all the time. Now and then the guys would stop to see my pics. They nearly had a fit cause I was going out to pooties. Lol They all used to ask me where I got the pics I had. I had a really good camera at the time. I took them. I printed them out in my own little office computer and printer. I would print them out and share them with my friends. One of my friends got Willie to sign one of the pics I took. She framed it snd it’s in her house on the wall. After Willie signed it she put some protective stuff on it to keep it safe. I’m jealous. Lol
Why on earth didn't you let Stan finish his story about talking with George Harrison?? That was an abrupt ending that leaves that story unfinished. Not fair.
The host interrupting constantly is extremely annoying and rude. Let Stan tell his story rather than trying to tell it for him after you have asked the question.

Luther died due to falling asleep with a lit cigarette in his living room.
The host interrupts to much.
