- Precision rifle shooters frequently reload their own ammunition to achieve the most consistent and accurate performance from their rifles. The side-hobby of reloading ammo also results in the accumulation of reloading components, supplies, equipment, tools, and accessories. All of this needs to be organized and stored in a space to facilitate the reloading process.
In this two part episode, Steve of the 6.5 Guys, provides a "behind the scenes look" at the production of 6.5 Guys videos, by facilitating an informal (impromptu) tour of the workshop/studio and his reloading room.
Part one of this episode looks at the 6.5 Guys studio and sound stage (Steve’s Garage) where many of the channel’s episodes are recorded. The viewer is shown what’s on the benches and the cabinets and how this space is used, with particular attention to reloading and gear storage.
Part two of this episode takes the viewer on a detailed tour of Steve’s recently remodeled (late summer of 2018) reloading room and reloading bench upgrades. The viewer is shown how things are organized, and an overview of the reloading tools, gear, and equipment he currently uses (as of Jan. 2019). Спорт
Homeboys been hitting the chow mein hard!
It's always interesting to see more background of your reloading methodology.
Thanks for sharing,
Steve, the two video's are great and very informative. I felt as if I were welcomed into your home with your humbleness and honesty.
Thank you very much for sharing your comment and feedback. We are totally unscripted and try to keep it real.
Glad to see you’ve adopted the t-track system. I did my heavy duty t-track a couple of years ago and spaced them the width of the Inline Fab mount system. I also mounted all of my accessories like neck turner, powder measure, case trimmer on hardwood bases that attach to the rails. Great video and love your series.....
I love the T-track system. Going to eventually put that on the workbench in the garage.
Many thanks for sharing. All my stuff lives in a box and then comes out onto the kitchen table for a reload session. This could inspire me to get something set up in the loft or similar.
so jealous! I have a 26' long reloading bench and still feel like I don't have enough room. I love the T-track. I am going to look into that. Great idea!
Nice video. I am relatively new to reloading. I have only been in it for about a year or so. Expensive hobby.... but worth the pennies for sure! I really like your bench system. Kinda modularized and able to make up some space where you have none. It also sure beats mine where I am working around my press and/or bolting down equipment, just to unbolt it to bolt another piece down. Feels like I spend half my time setting up. I think I will use this idea, after I buy the dies to my new rifle anyway.... Definitely appreciate your videos!
Holy crap! So much powder! That would cost around $5,000 for powder alone these days.
Your T-Track system is identical how I have my reloading bench set up, as far as I'm concerned it is the best setup for a small area ... gotta make use for every square inch whenever you don't have a coliseum for a reloading room. Thanks for the video, nice reloading room!
Thanks @AT502 for the positive comment. Love the T-Track system!
Very good video thank you for sharing.👍👍👍
Thanks Lou!
The Number 1 lesson is that one seldom has enough space as stockpiles of tools, brass, powder, bullets, etc., continues to multiply in the dark of night.
Thanks for taking time on your explaining your reloading/prep rooms. I'm in the process of getting into reloading and finishing up on building my reloading/man cave area and you have made my mind on getting curtain option on the bench like the track system and a few others.
Your going to like the Valkyrie, I love mine in a Remington 700 platform....trying to get load development down with 88eld-m and now my man cave is taking my time instead of reloading, I have plans to change to 80eld-m now after reading and checking ballistics.....I suggest you go to the .224 Valkyrie reloading facebook page, that's where I learned about the 80eld-m advantage over other bullets.
Thanks for leaving your post @IHFarmer2007 - The next video to be released by end of week is our Season 5 wrap up where. Ed and I will be talking about rifles and calibers we'll be running next year and talk a little bit more about the .224 Valkyrie.
@@65Guys Your very welcome. Can't wait for your upcoming season videos and with the success Gavin on Gavintube has had on the Valkyrie I can't wait till you all dive in and see what success you have with it!!
I cannot believe how much powder you keep in inventory. Great looking room!
There have been times in the past 5 years where powder has been in very low supply and was hard to get hold of. I made the decision to have plenty on hand to get me through in potential shortages that may occur in the supply chain.
Military Intelligence Corps? I was there EIT 1991. 97-B. Hooah! Airborne All The Way!
Nice reload room BTW.
Yup, former Army MI officer (SIGINT).
I would like to see what you use for case prep and your thoughts on what has worked and what improvements you have purchased etc. In addition, I would like to see the whole start to finish with bullet loading etc.
Jeff - take a look at our some of our other reloading related videos, especially season 5, episode 7. We cover some of the specifics about our reloading processes we use. Also - the next video that's to be posted (season 5 wrap up ) will cover a number of common questions we receive about reloading and load development.
What happened to 6.5Guys!!!? Please don't tell you've both succumbed to the Covid lol!
You have given me some ideas...but I didn't see a 'cold storage' unit in part 2.
The cold storage and refreshment container was in garage (part 1)
A&D scale with power Trickler and your new upgrades coming? I currently have RCBS , As shown in your video. I’d like to upgrade to your powder scale system.. could you provide me with the part numbers or links?
Love all your videos! I’ve been doing reloading for 50 years and always looking to upgrade my loading accessories.
Reno - We have more info about A&D FX-120i and auto trickler setup in this gear update video - here is the link: ruclips.net/video/ZgUa8DjLMSk/видео.html&t
I'll post some pics of the new Area 419 additions to this setup on our Facebook page once I get everything added to the scale, and feature the new additions on a future gear update in 2019.
Thanks for sharing, can you do the laundry room and bathroom next?
LOL - not likely.
Are you planning on adopting any time soon? If so, I’ll let you adopt me lol. I love your videos and info you guys put out there. Keep up the good work.
Thanks for the comment Cody.
How are you liking the hornady iron press? Like the setup you have going on!
I purchased the iron press new in August of 2018, and it has seen moderate use. Definitely a big upgrade from the RCBS press I was using previously. I really like the quick change, floating die lock system which for me was a big selling point and the fact that I can easily reach into the press to insert or remove a cartridge.
It would be nice to see a review on a 22 creedmore
We'll add the request to our list of items for consideration.
Very good couple of videos! How are the RDF's working out for you?
I love the Nosler RDF .308cal 175gr. bullets - they perform extremely well. I Don't have a ton of experience with the RDFs in other calibers to provide a well informed opinion.
I’m shooting the 6.5 140 RDF’s and they have been great. I load them about 60 thou of the lands and at 2866 in my creedmoor. I love them.
@@65Guys thanks I appreciate the info!
@@corybibby4884 thanks for the feedback!
If you guys were to suggest a precision rifle training class for a newbie, where would you suggest that I look? I've mostly been looking at K&M and RiflesOnly.
Either of the two options you are looking at have good reputations for providing excellent instruction.
Colorado Precision
How can I get my hands on one of those cool patches?
Patches can be purchased through our website - www.65guys.com Look for the link along the top menu (while quantities last).
PS I do all my D priming and small lot work on my co-ax
What was that magneto speed mount that you have?
Wiser Precision Chrono Mount
Nice video. Do you do your match Ammo on the Iron Press or the LNL progressive?
Yes, the match ammo for the most part is done on the Hornady Iron Press - also a new item purchased in the summer of 2018. The precision ammo made on the LNL AP Press includes the 223 Precision Trainer ammo and 6.5 Grendel ammo. Mostly where I am cranking out volumes of 500 or more cartridges at a time, I'll opt to use the progressive press.
Thank you for the reply
I believe you used to load on the RC Supreme. Have you found the Iron press to load more accurate Ammo? How is depriming on the iron press? Thanks!
6.5 Guys
The reason I ask about the difference between the RC and Iron press is that my RC has developed a very minor bit of slop in ram. Considering new press, but I am probably over reacting! Lol
@@lancevaughn5337 I had a similar issue on my Rock Chucker. I was able to take out the slop by tightening the lock nuts on the linkage arms. There is one on each side down by where the base of the handle screws into the press. Try snugging them up and see if that helps.
Dude! No shout out to my man Dan at Inline Fabrication? Your using a few products and they are the best thing going for any modular reloding space.
Michael - I completely agree. Inline Fabrication makes fantastic products and I'll never mount a press directly to the bench again unless it has an Inline Fabrication press mount.
@@65Guys How about a link?
Don’t let your local Fire Department see your powder storage situation I’m sure you’re well over your local jurisdictions maximum before you need to store them in a double containment cabinet. That’s a lot of powder to have seized. Your area may be different but they usually don’t very by much
It's a war against guns. The more you abide by the law the more laws you'll get. To hell with codes, regulation, and compliance.
Where are the 65 guys hidden? That’s a lot of men. 😬
Guys, are you out of progressive Reloading? I am extremely happy with my Dillon 550 B, old timer, but I measure and drop all my powder with an auto drop auto truck or system. I can produce a lot of PRECISION and I moved pretty quickly!
Jim Klink, no. Ed reloads pretty much exclusively on his Dillon 550B press. I use my LNL AP press for high volume precision ammo such as for my .223 Trainer or 6.5 Grendel.
Dillon is the only way to go..
Dillion Makes a single stage press? lol
WHATS WITH THE WEIGHT GAIN HOMBRE
I was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism a year ago which causes weight gain and makes it very difficult to shed pounds as well as just need to get out and exercise more.
