When it comes to root... the big roots absorb the water. The root hairs are the ones that bring the nutrients to the plants. So if you over water or under water you palms and damage the root hairs and if you have a deficiencies the plant can’t fix it and that’s when people think they have PH lockout. I wanted to post this when you spoke about the roots. GUTGW.
If you keep them in the garage how do they get light? How often you open container? water? Are ckear top containers better? What's a good process for Fish Tail? BTW, Fishtail seeds give me a rash everywhere. Any benefit to picking juicy fruit versus dry seeds on the floor?
In one of your videos on germination of bismarck seeds in a closed container, you mentioned root tip burn caused by the root getting to the bottom of the media and getting overheated from the heat matt. So far I haven't been able to locate the video again, and I don't remember if you said the root will or will not recover. I'm germinating bismarcks and have some with the tip damaged from the heat matt. What are their chances?
Cool video! I got some queen palm seeds in October and I will plant them in May but I was wondering what kind of soil I should plant them in and should I get the seeds when they are green or orange?
Hi, when should you take the seeds out of the perlite and pot them up? Do you wait for the Palm to come up or when they have some good roots going? Thank you
usa russia Foxtail is quite tricky. I’ve tried. It takes a lot of trial and error. It’s very picky. Don’t do the baggie method, doesn’t work. This method in a container works but use a heating mat under and NOT full sun. Keep soil mixture moist but not wet. It’s a beach tree so likes sandy dirt.
Any luck with the bottle palm seeds or seedlings? Also on the newer videos can you use the common name? Lol. I’m new to all type of palms and most of the time I can’t hear you say the proper name and mostly I can’t spell lol. Thanks and keep up the awesome videos.
Tia Jewels I’ve tired germinating Bismarck also and haven’t had any luck. The main thing is to find fresh fresh seeds. I bought some off eBay and Amazon with no luck. Then I did some researched and found out that people are selling non fertilized seeds. Then I got in contact with a couple that have a male and female in there nursery. Short story is I bought 20 and the bag they sent me set on my fridge for like two weeks( waiting for my STUEWE POTS. I just happened to be looking for something else and noticed 6 of them germinated. So just listen to this man and search for fresh seeds. Good luck.

Where do you keep them, in the house, or on a porch, in sunlight or no sun?
This time of year I would put them in full sun, but in the summer the heat in the shade is enough.

Generally speaking, larger rooted palms should be picked immediately, and smaller ones can be in the container for a while.
The Palm Fiend Thank you. So as soon as i see roots coming i should pot them up?
Live Spain For Life Yes within a few inches of root.
The Palm Fiend thank you :)
How long did they take to germinate?
About 30-45 days with intense heat.

It is perlite, an expanded volcanic rock that drains well. :)

I have a number of foxtails around my property. Love them! I’d consider them the “Princess” of the palm world. Very picky.
Is this lipstick palms you said?
These are Attalea seeds.
Do you have any bottle neck palms and Mexico and European type pan palm seeds?
I don't normally carry seeds in stock, but if I come upon some I will pick some.

What about a Silver Bismarck Palm? I started some in Baggies, and a few went moldy...
They should grow the same as any other in the species.
