Came here to check and know how to plant these seeds properly. Was given few by my mom, instructed how to do so and it has been few weeks now when I realize I have a task to be done (i forgotten about the seeds) and forgot how to plant it properly. Hahaha It helped! Thanks.
How's she goin'? That's a neat process. It's been real hot and humid here the last few days, but nothing like what you are getting that for sure!! I don't know how you can stand the temp and humidity so high so often!!! Good luck with you palm trees and take care!!!
Hello there Mike. I am sorry I have been away from youtube for some time. I will catch up with you later. Glad to see you got the summer going. Love to Nannie
Hi thank you for the video! I have a question regarding watering. How much water should I give my palm? It's been about 40 days and it grew out of its shoot already. But it didn't open yet into a leaf. So I don't know whether it needs a lot of water everyday or every 2 days or maybe once a week? There was a time when i watered it but the water went straight to the saucer underneath although overnight it seems to have sucked most of the water back up
I loved the video.... I'm excited, but wonder.... how to make a triple trunked plant? I assume all I need to do is plant 3 seeds next to each other. Is this as easy as I assume?
We do usually grow them in threes because they look nice that way. There are varieties of palms that have multiple trunks from the one plant, but not this variety. However, I have seen seen three grown almost into one and other. Thank you for watching, and good look with the seeds
Great video! Question… I just purchased 6 Christmas palm seedlings I planted them and have them outside in full sun. The leaves seem to be drying out 😢 even though I keep the soil moist. Where is the best place to keep these babies? Thank you in advance for your assistance.
Hello! If the leaves are damaged in the sun, gradually accustom the palms to the sun. The seedlings may not have been in direct contact with the sun before. They should also be provided with adequate air humidity.
It is better to put in partial shade in the beginning, as they would grow naturally under the mother trees. I am pretty sure they will come back for you
I have queen palm tree seeds that I’m trying to germinate but curious to know will they last in the Irish weather? Should I just keep them inside all year round
The only thing I would say is maybe deeper pots because when they first root, before they even break the surface, they have a long tap route and it can’t get very long in those pots
Thank you so much! I just had a couple questions. I have a christmas palm and it has the red seeds/fruits (not sure which they are). Do I wait until they fall off and the red fruit rots off naturally? Or do I take a knife and remove the red fruit husk and then soak them? Can I take some that have fallen off or should I pick it straight from the palm bunch? Little confused on how I deal with the red shell.
The should be fine. The oldest palm seeds to germinate were Date Palm, and they were 2,000 years old. Thank you for watching and good luck with the seeds
Hey there. My neighbor gave me some Christmas Palm seeds. Some of them are about 1 inch long and others are about 2 inches long. Do you know what the difference is?
I have a question for you, the seeds in your video have a hard shell, do you break the shell before you put them in the water? or do you leave the seeds as they are?
No. The hard outside is part of the seed. It contains the nutrients that enable the seedling to grow. Just the same as a coconut. Thank you for watching
Hello pascal thanks for the video.. Where are you.. When I heard the accent.. I taught jeses this is not Ireland 😂but the accent is 🍀, Dublin myself.. Love the palms but you did not say what the palm is? Regards. David. Dublin Ireland...
Thank you David. I used to live in North Kildare, but we moved to The Philippine in 2010. The palm variety is up there in the video description. My other channel is called "Irish Chippy' as most videos are woodworking, but there are some gardening also. Thank you again for watching.
Adonidia m. is commonly known here in the states as "Christmas Tree Palm." The reason for this is the trees normally bloom late in the fall, and they produce a red berry from the white flower in December / January; hence, Christmas Tree Palm.
I am not sure what you would call a trunk. After planting in the ground, they will spend 2 years establishing a root system. After that they will grow rapidly. Thank you for watching.
I did not have the lace ready for them, but I kept in smallish posts. I just sowed them in the ground last week. They are only 4' tall, but should start shooting up very soon. I have sown another 30 plants, so I will have a total of 33 along the road at the front. There will be 11 groups of 3. Thank you for watching.
As I said in the video it is the Manila Palm or sometimes referred to as the Christmas Palm. The scientific name is Adonidia merrillii, and is native to the Philippines. Thank you for watching
@@cookingwithshaistanaz8082 Sure. I thought I mentioned at the start. It is called the Manila Palm (Adonidia merrillii). In the US they call it Christmas Palm, because it tends to have those beautiful red berries around Christmas time. Over here we have no winter

Just keep it moist enough so it does not completely dry out. There is no such thing as how many days to water for any plant. Thank you for watching

Does it matter if you place the seeds in the ground in summer/ fall or winter?
It depends on what the climate is where you live. You can sow in the middle of summer for sure. Thank you for watching
Very interesting video that you made here.
I have one question;
Would this method work in a country like Malta?
Thanks
Adam.
There are some species of palm that grow in Malta, mostly date palms. I believe Gummar (dwarf palm) is a native species of the Maltese Islands
Did u peel them before put them on boiling water? Or do you use hot water to made pealing easy?
The skin just almost fell off. I did not it in boiling water, just hot water. Thank you for watching
