@@raramaeja884 It's not really a "free" competition. The music industry especially in America, which as a country is the driver of pop culture the "zeitgeist", that industry is heavily manipulated just like the movie industry.. those at the top who have control of the money and are manipulating these industries have certain objectives. And there is nothing like the music that the people listen to and the movies that they watch to mold hearts and minds according to how and where they want to channel the people into: a certain mindset even a set of ideologies without the people noticing that they are being molded. In the 80's rap or hip hop was the thing that they wanted to dominate as such suited their objectives.. Most people tend to follow the trend anyway and especially so the young people and those who aren't possessed of a strong mind.
Spring of 1988. I used to watch this video on VH1 as I got ready for my classes - Sr. year - GA Southern. I knew how lucky I was at the time, but I did not realize the cocoon of "comfort" I was leaving at almost 22. At this age, I just want to feel it one more time. One of the most beautifully written and arranged love songs/ballads from the 80s🎶🎙🎹🎸🥁❤. Boz Scaggs' soothing voice, the melodic synthesizers, guitars, and bass working harmoniously followed by the drums that beat like a heart❤ and the backing vocals echoing 'Heart of Mine'. Truly amazing💯

27 years old and first time to hear this song way back 2012 and I fell in love to the message of the song ❤️ Now till 2021, still listening to a masterpiece like this 🎵💯
Love this song! Back in the '80s and '90s, I was in a wedding band, and our cover of "Heart of Mine" was always really well-received at wedding receptions as a slow dance. (Which is actually a bit counter-intuitive, given the lyrics and meaning of the song! But goes to show you what a great song it was, and still is. People LOVED it.) There was a powerhouse lineup of musicians who recorded the track on "Other Roads", too. Boz always surrounded himself with seriously excellent musicians.

I remember seeing this video on VH1 in the summer of 1988…Haven’t heard it since then. The summer before my freshman year of high school. I remember saying to myself “The lido shuffle guy?” Beautiful song… Man, I wish I could go back to the days when being broken-hearted was when your crush didn’t like you back…
I was getting ready to be a sophomore that same summer and despite all the hits on the radio this one was just different definitely a classic and they don't make them like this anymore
I was also going into my sophomore year that summer. I liked this song so much I bought the 45 even though I wasn’t familiar with his other work at the time. Within a few years I caught up and have been enjoying Boz ever since.
He and his band stayed at one of our houses while they were performing in New Orleans, many many moons ago. I really wanted to get his autograph. But we had promised them their privacy. Which was the reason they were staying there to begin with. Life is short.
A very Happy 77th Birthday William Royce "Boz" Scaggs June 8, 1944. Your songs were inspirational for us when we were young. And now, more than ever. Being that we're older and wiser. Thanks William.

Surely he will be honored for his talent...
I ALWAYS loved this song!!! I remember loving it when it was first released and I STILL LOVE IT!!! Bozz your voice is a one-a-kind gift from God. It's SO unique. Thank you for all the AWESOME music
True heart felt music that surely would never die. Thanks to all who gave to us beautiful music like this. Salute to the singer and for music like this.
It was the summer of 1977. I had just purchased a brand new Fisher sound system: receiver, turntable, and four large floor speakers. One of the first album's I bought was Boz Scaggs "Silk Degrees". Of course, I was familiar with some of the cuts having been played on the radio, so it was one of the things I will always remember at the age of 21. My dad had passed away a few days earlier, so the day after his funeral I went to the electronics store to pick up my purchase which had arrived from ordering several weeks before. I felt it would take my mind off of the deep hurt and sorrow. Somehow, and it's hard to explain, this album gave me comfort from the hurt and loss I was experiencing. The music, lyrics, and Boz's incredible way of conveying his emotions in song was something I will never forget. So thank you Mr. Scaggs, for helping a young guy deal with his pain.
Music has a way of soothing even the deepest hurts. I am only 3 years older than you and know the feeling. Boz's music always takes me back to my younger and all too often better days.
TheCarnivalguy,This song also reminds me of 1977. I was a freshman at Bishop College in Dallas. I bought the silk degrees 8track tape from music store because I loved dirty lowdown single. Was I ever happy after I listened to the entire album on my stereo and realized every song was slamming. Sure do miss those days.
One day you may find true love that will last forever and ever 'Till then you'll spend a lifetime wishing one together You never thought she'd say goodbye And you'll never understand the reasons why Heart of mine How will you keep from dying Stop reminiscing who is she kissing? Heart of mine Oh what's the use in trying No one can mend you now Love plays cruel games You can't believe she's found another lover "Does she miss me?" Sometimes you just can't help but wonder No, you can't hold the hands of time And you'll always be the one she left behind Heart of mine, how will you keep from dying stop reminiscing Who is she kissing heart of mine, Oh what's the use in trying No one can mend you now And you'll never understand the reasons why Heart of mine, how will you keep from dying stop reminiscing Who is she kissing heart of mine, Oh, what's the use in trying No one can mend you now Oh, heart of mine heart of mine Heart of mine
Nostalgic vibes from 1988 when I was a ten year old discovering 70s and 80s songs on the radio and recording them onto cassette tapes. This song being one of them. I misheard the title lyric of this song as "Horrifying" rather than "Heart Of Mine". It might has well been what I thought the lyric was considering the context of the song. It wasn't until 2001 at 23 years of age when I found this song again that I realized the actual title. I hadn't heard this song since the early 90s due to losing the tape I had recorded it in 1988. I feel silly. But, this song will always be one of several dozen nostalgic favorites for 1988 during a sweet carefree time of my childhood and life overall. Thank you for the memories Mr. Boz Scaggs.
Each time I hear this song, it does remind me of my freshman year in college that was ages ago. Had share of heartaches, blues but it gives me inspiration to believe in myself more than anything else. This is my personal favorite ever. Mr Boz Scaggs ur song was an inspiration always..👍🏻

Heart of mine
How will you keep from dying
Stop reminiscing who is she kissing?
Heart of mine
Oh what's the use in trying
No one can mend you now
Love plays cruel games
You can't believe she's found another lover
"Does she miss me?"
Sometimes you just can't help but wonder
No, you can't hold the hands of time
And you'll always be the one she left behind
Heart of mine, how will you keep from dying stop reminiscing
Who is she kissing heart of mine,
Oh what's the use in trying
No one can mend you now
And you'll never understand the reasons why
Heart of mine, how will you keep from dying stop reminiscing
Who is she kissing heart of mine,
Oh, what's the use in trying
No one can mend you now
Oh, heart of mine heart of mine
Heart of mine

Timeless classics. I love this song! Congrats Mr. Boz Scaggs! "Mabuhay" from the Philippines!
