  • In this video, I show off my brand new 2018 Toyota TRD Offroad 4Runner. I go over why I bought the 2019 Toyota 4runner, and why I love it.
    At the end of the video, while trying to shoot some b-roll, i end up getting stuck in a frozen mudhole, which requires me to be saved by a tow truck!

    Lmao awesome that you didn't cut out getting stuck man! Just got my trd off road last month. Within the first week i swapped out those garbage tires for some duratracs. Good luck with it!

    I love my 4Runner too. Based on where you live , I’d probably invest in new tires and a winch first thing.

    Use Crawl Control, buddy. That helps

    • @RiverRatsTotalOutdoors
      @RiverRatsTotalOutdoors  5 лет назад

      Crawl control would not help, all you people who think crawl control is the end all be all, it is not, it is a damn gimmick, I have never ,not once had it help me out of a situation whether it be sand , snow, rock , or mud. Just because you have watched a couple videos where crawl control worked doesn't mean it gets you out of everything.

    I'm sure you tried all the options to get unstuck, sorry that happened. I loved the drone shots and the cinematic shots. You took time to set all that up and made a great video. I would have liked to see a "here's how I get unstuck" with the tow. Good luck!

      UNKPCRIDE yeah when the truck got there I didn't even think about taping it. It was a fairly straight forward pull.

    Sir, respects and a heart felt sorrow for the fail in the mud. I had a similar thing happen before video cams were common place. (and cell phones) Was teaching a friend what NOT to do and did the exact thing I said to watch out for in a matter of 2 minutes down a farm road. High centered. Game over. With no recovery gear. We hiked a couple miles out to a local gas station and got a drunk Jeeper to tow me back 2 feet and all was good. Try and swallow your pride if you can and call for help from a buddy. It's cheaper than the tow truck. LOL And I feel your love for that rig. Mine is waiting to be loaded onto a transport to be sent to me. Cannot wait.

    • @RiverRatsTotalOutdoors
      @RiverRatsTotalOutdoors  6 лет назад

      The problem with calling a buddy is a: you have to hear it from them and b: I was out in the middle of nowhere so they would have had to come along ways and I had to get to work in an hour, so I needed to be recovered as quick as possible. Thank you for watching the Vid! We have alot of 4runner content coming up, about to embark on a 3000 mile journey to drive on the beach, something us Minnesotans don't get to do often, so I am super jacked!!

    Great SUV MAN I want to exchange my 2013 4runner for one like your and thanks for been honest good luck body by the way what size tires a truck like that should have to play at the snow ?

    • @RiverRatsTotalOutdoors
      @RiverRatsTotalOutdoors  5 лет назад

      Right now it has 275/70-17 tires, during this video it had 265/70-17, if you watch my latest videos you will see what it can go through for snow!

    CONFIDENCE: That feeling you have before you fully understand the situation.
    DETERMINATION: That feeling you have right before you try something really dumb. :D
    I can only give you one "thumbs-up," or I'd give ya two.

    • @RiverRatsTotalOutdoors
      @RiverRatsTotalOutdoors  2 года назад

      IT HAD A BILSTEIN 6112 SET OF COILOVERS IN IT FOR THIS VIDEO SET AT1.75" AND THE REAR WAS STOCK. iT NOW HAS THE SAME 6112'S AND 1" SPRINGS WITH EIBACH SHOCKS IN THE REAR. i LOVE THE 6112'S BUT THE EIBACH SHOCKS LEAVE A LITTLE TO BE DESIRED

    Never try at the time the crawl control?

    • @RiverRatsTotalOutdoors
      @RiverRatsTotalOutdoors  5 лет назад +1

      Yes I did, crawl control is mainly a gimmick, it only works in certain situations, and most of this situations an experienced driver will be able to do the same thing

    I bought one about a WK ago, tires are for van, trying to figure what lift I want going with KO2'S for rubber

    • @RiverRatsTotalOutdoors
      @RiverRatsTotalOutdoors  5 лет назад

      I went with KO2's and fir a front lift I have Bilstein 6112's and for the rear I am going to go with 5160's and the new 1.5" heavier rear coils. Couldn't be happier with the 6112's so far, the ride is great and I have them set at like 2" of lift, the ko2's I went with 275 size so a little bigger, no rubbing, no problems

    Were you looking to order traction boards? Lol man I can't be upset - I've been in your situation before but I broke down and called a buddy.
    I just recently got my first 4R also a couple months ago; 19' Pro in voodoo blue. You definitely picked a badass truck.

    Congrats on your new car. After three years I can honestly say I hate my Trail Premium. Getting stuck in snow, get used to it. Sadly you will likely have squeaks, moon roof and dash. Wait till the infotainment system locks up and you have to pull the car over to reset. Be very careful with the paint as it will scratch just brushing up against the body and the paint comes off easily. Front windshield, get used to the horrible glass which chips and breaks with ease. Trade it in and buy a 2nd or 3rd generation if you want a true truck. Sadly we both have the family station wagon. Hope your experience is different but mine is a pile of junk, poor quality, incapable and unreliable.

      @lunchboxtheman 6 лет назад

      Albert Hutchison I’ve had mine about 8 months and hate it too. Same exact issues as you even brand new. Already had to have driver window glass replaced because it’s so soft my PLASTIC ice scraper gouged it so badly. Had 4 chips in windshield within 2 weeks of owning. Moonroof rattles. Ride quality sucks. Power sucks. Transmission sucks can never find the right gear.
      BIG paint chips all over the hood and scratches just looking at it.
      Save your money and get literally another other vehicle than this one.

    • @blackdiamond5015
      @blackdiamond5015 6 лет назад

      Lunchbox The Man YES finally someone who gets it! EXACT same issues! Have replaced the infotainment system 3 times and still doesn't work. Can't brush up against outside as clear coat scratches or paint comes off. Can't tell the difference between 2 wheel and 4 wheel both equally suck. Appreciate someone else sharing their experience! Not what you would expect from Toyota!!! Thanks for sharing but sorry you're experiencing the same things. We're not the only ones!

    Did you use the crawl control or no? I noticed the other videos had the frame to the ground and that’s why they used it

    • @RiverRatsTotalOutdoors
      @RiverRatsTotalOutdoors  6 лет назад

      El Pintor the other videos you watched are in sand, two completely different animals, in frozen mud with your frame hung up cc will do nothing but waste gas. There is nothing for it to push underneath for more traction, in most situations it's more of a gimmick than anything. In sand it can be a life saver.

    • @RiverRatsTotalOutdoors
      @RiverRatsTotalOutdoors  6 лет назад +2

      I have made it through since then, the problem with this day was the truck was literally brand new, I was a little nervous, so I didn't carry momentum, and there was no traction due to the snow and ice!
