The soldiers believed they had super powers too. Where did they get it from? It came from literally the same thing santanam used to bite into in Vikram. And no they were no longer weak Hitler managed to get Germans to pick up arms and go to war, their propaganda was that through.

All the major events leading to WW2 (According to my knowledge):
-> *October 3, 1935:* Italy attacks Ethiopia. The Ethiopian king pleads with the League of Nations (The earlier version of the UN established after WW1) to intervene, but they reject the request.
-> *March 7, 1936:* Germany remilitarizes the rhineland (Industrial region of Germany which was demilitarized after WW1 ended). France/Britain did not challenge as they were not ready militarily.
-> *March 13, 1936:* Germany annexes Austria (This process was also called as the Anschluss). Britain again didn't challenge.
-> *September 29, 1938:* Germany demands the Sudetenland (A region in Czechoslovakia which is primarily German speaking).
-> *September 30, 1938:* Britain, France, Germany, and Italy meet in Munich and sign the Munich agreement in which Germany can take control of the Sudetenland provided they don't take any more aggressive actions in the future. Note that *Czechoslovakia themselves were not invited to sign this agreement.* Czechoslovakia then had no choice but to cede this territory as they were no match against Germany militarily.
-> *March 15, 1939:* Germany attacks Czechoslovakia and annexes the country. Britain did not challenge but finally started preparing for war.
-> *September 1, 1939:* Germany attacks Poland gambling that Britain and France will do nothing. While Britain and France did subsequently declare war on Germany, they did nothing except watch Poland fall. The time from September 1st to the fall of Poland is often called as the "Phony War" because of this.
*Note:* Neville Chamberlain, the then PM of Britain, believed that if they appeased hitler and his demands he will eventually stop asking for more territory. This policy is now popularly known as "Appeasement". When the war finally got into full swing, Neville resigned and Winston Churchill took over.
