I really appreciate you not only showing the successes but also when things don't work out. It makes the videos that much more informative and helps way more with my own outdoor experience!
That was an interesting video showing the challenges of camping in remote Scottish mountains. It really showed how unpredictable the weather can be in such areas. I was impressed that you was able to brace the tent enough to make it through the night.
Thanks for the video, Ray! Looking forward to the next one as always. Been re-watching your CWT and WHW videos. Love the scenery, chat and calming music
Hi Ray, good video! Just wanted to say you are right with the duomid and one of the first mods I made was the double zipper - and oh yes don’t mention the lanshan inner tents…just to much hassle I finally cried once and got the proper fitting duomid inner definitely worth it imho. Cheers Stripey
Good to see you back out Ray. Hopefully this little trip has helped in gettin' your mojo back. Nowt wrong with a Robens tent, I have the Challenger 2, it's served me and my dog well over the years. Great quality from the new camera 👍 Take care All the best D & B 👍
Hi Ray. Great to see you back out again. What a stunning location and what a beautiful morning you woke up to. As ever mate, thank you for sharing your adventure. All the best mate, Dave. 😀⛰🥾🏴🏕️
It is always a privilege to watch you Ray, you are one of the reasons that i got back into wild camping, so if you can keep inspiring us to get back out there.
Crikey Ray, ive got some pretty big Bikepacking trips planned this year and ive yet to swing a leg over the the crossbar... Well done you on braving the frost... I had a similar response from Jack Wolfskin when i attempted to make a few recommendations - pissed me off a little and spoiled my relationship with the brand... Their loss... Right...once this glass of red 🍷 is done, im off to oil my chain... Thanks fir sharing Ray.... 🚴🥃
got to love a starlight 2, not the biggest nor lightest tent BUT omg they area bombproof tent, love the older version with the yellow interior, soo much more optimistic colour
Everything worked fine in this video! There are not many wind breaks around for shelter. I imagine the hills and mountains form wind tunnels on the low terrain but also on top of the mountains it can be super windy Before you know it,winter will be gone and then the midges will show up..the wind doesn’t seem to blow then Take care 🇨🇦❤️
Nice and calm video, thank you! Also, your opinion on your tents was really helpful. Looks like having tents for strong winds is a must for the mountains in Scotland and the UK
I once got caught by wind up at loch avon in a solar photon 2. Decided I had to bail when the long top pole started hitting my back whilst I was laying down! Had to scuttle underneath the shelter stone for the night. 😂 scotland can be harsh!!!. I have just bought an x mid 1. It's had 2 40mph gusting night's, and has stood up well. Silpoly has been impressive too. One way zips only thou....
Thank you Ray, beautiful scenery and another great video, it has been a tad gusty these last few weeks....looks a very nice tent, the moon looked nice.
Nice one again Ray. You know the MLD cuben duomid makes sense, combine it with the MLD bivvy (I think it is) and A frame it with 2 trekking poles, it's bomb proof in high winds.
Always enjoy your videos Ray, they have a nice chilled vibe to them and great to see where you get out too. I enjoy hearing you views on tents too, I'm always thinking about different tent options, I have a Wild Country Helm 1 that does pretty well but it's a touch heavy and pretty small inside. Hope you have a bit more luck with the weather and sound issues, look forward to following your adventures this year.
Good to see you out with the Robens again, I'll be taking mine out in the next couple of weeks. Been a great tent. The line that goes across the inner above your head I use to hang my tablet, lie back and watch a film.
Just out of the Cairngorms this morning. Weather changed quickly last night too. The wind can really take away from the experience. Conversely was very lucky up in Glencoe, camped in the saddle of Stob Dubh and Stob Coire Raineach. Baltic but barely a breathe of wind all night, beautiful.
Great video again! Have you found which tent you prefer in the winds? I am still trying to find 'the best one' for relatively small pack size which is good in the wind! The search continues...
Nice one Ray glad to see you back out and what a cracking little spot you had, great views. Cant beat a perfect sunset and sunrise. When i bike pack i always leave a bit of a space for the same reason you had, nothing goes back the same way. Anyway get another camp on the card asap. Steve 👍
Thanks for watching mate. Still don't know how many bike packers have such small setups. Getting used to the saddle is my biggest issue after a day on rocky ground :) Atb
Great to see the bike out again Ray , seems you’ve not had much luck camping of late. I do agree about MLD should have a double zipper system , surely it ain’t a big ask 🤷 I learnt years ago to replay footage each time I take it, after losing loads with no sound 😂
Nearly every trip has been a disaster in some way. If your wondering why this video is really short, well it struck again. Think I am cursed when it comes to vlogging :) Atb
Well done Ray at keeping at it with the weather. Its not been great down the road either, just rain with a smidgen of rain!🙃 Looking forward at getting up the road and walking Scotland again. Looking forward to your next adventure! ATB Al
I always enjoy your videos Ray excellent any suggestions on a good 3 season tent? I am thinking of buying an MSR Hubba NX have you ever used these tents
Stopped filming half way through as also ended up with condensation inside the camera lens. Will say that Murray also had similar issues. So between sound and footage that trip will sadly not see light of day. However Murray (Scotlands Mountains) managed to film it pretty good and worth watching. Atb
Think its an ok tent but a bit too heavy for the trips that I do. Also a bit expensive for the few times I get out in winter and would likely use it. Atb
I can sympathise with you entirely Ray...to be honest I've decided to not bother with "Winter" camps until I "feel it" again ☹️ Filming is the easy bit... sound is whole different ball game... I think I've spent nearly as much on mics as cameras!😲🤔 Cold hands, and brain! don't make it easy with cables and small buttons! Enjoyed the video...as always, ATB Alistair 👍

Nice vid and night away Ray. Wind is our biggest foe in British Isles, then throw audio into the mix. 😅
Yeh, its a pure mare at times :) Atb

Great to see you back out Ray it's definitely been very windy and wet atvb Jimmy 😎😎👍👍
Hopefully things might calm down for a little while :) Atb

Nice video and editing! Thanks for sharing. I don’t mind to have some longer video shots of the environment and or camping. Its really calming

Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks and Atb.
Met you in the car park in the morning after this trip. Was great to meet you, hope you’ve finally managed to warm up! ATB
Was nice to meet you as well. Did warm up about half way home :) Hope you had a great day out in the hills as well. Atb

Up at Loch Avon is nice spot as well. Lots of folks seem to be enjoying the X-Mid and hope it serves you well. Atb

Thanks for watching and great idea. Might try that next time I am out with it. Atb
Enjoying the new highlights package format, it works well even if it's borne out of a few successive bad experiences!
Nice to see you out and about again. Beautiful place

My good wife and myself where down that way a few days ago.
Great weather for February
Great video again!
Have you found which tent you prefer in the winds?
I am still trying to find 'the best one' for relatively small pack size which is good in the wind! The search continues...
Great footage from the Action 4. I was just thinking it was really clear and checked your description to see what you used. Keep up the good work
Thanks for watching. Used my Lumix for static shots and Osmo for walking talking. Atb

Thanks for watching mate and do hope the weather starts to improve soon. Hope you have some nice adventures planned up this neck of the woods. Atb
@@RS.Outdoors yeh I'm on the Scottish National Trail in April so hopefully some decent weather this year 👍
Thanks, Ray. 🙂👍
Thanks for watching Brian. Atb
Great video Ray. That’s up my neck of the woods. Looks like you went west of Linn of Dee car park.
Yes it was and not too far to travel :) Not got my fitness back yet for humping up the mountains just yet. Atb
@@RS.Outdoors you’ll get there Ray. All the best and look forward to the next video.
Nice video Ray and good to see you out. Wise choice with the rum in the afternoon 😂. Cheers
Thanks 👍 Made out there was a choice. Not really the Rum as getting it as soon as I was settled. Atb
Been too long Ray, best outdoor vlogger out there. Keep them coming. Head for the Hiills Scotland very close second, highly recommended.
Thanks mate. Atb
Very beautiful place
Thanks for watching. Atb.
Great video
Thanks for the visit. Atb
I always enjoy your videos Ray excellent any suggestions on a good 3 season tent? I am thinking of buying an MSR Hubba NX have you ever used these tents
Should have taken your Soulo on the Derry Cairngorm camp...that would have readily taken 60 mph
Good shout. Atb
Do you plan to release the winter WHW with voiceover? Or will it be scrapped?

I've just abandoned a camping trip this weekend due to the wind and rain. Annoying isn't it 😂
Great video 👍
Glad you enjoyed it and thanks for watching. Atb

Trying to get back into it mate. Thanks for watching. Atb
