- Taking a look at pitfall dialogue throughout the Animal Crossing series, from GameCube through New Horizons on Switch. Villagers never enjoy falling into pitfall seeds. Sometimes it makes them angry, and sometimes it makes them sad and depressed.
Which game has the best pitfall reactions? And which individual villager in this video had the best reaction? Let me know what you think!
Apologies to Static, Kody, Rowan, Wolfgang, Puck, Queenie, New Leaf Rolf, Hornsby, Eloise, Tybalt, Midge, and Apollo.
But it was a pleasure pitfalling Yuka, Limberg, Lulu, Rizzo, Gwen, Tabby, Katt, and Wild World Rolf.

Gotta love that large colored text the gamecube villagers used when pitfalled.
Or the different bubble chat that pops up when villagers are yelling or screaming in New Horizons.
gamecube had superior dialogue when it came to anger.
It’s certainly the most entertaining, also you feel justified hitting them with your net afterwards.
Yeah i feel like Nintendo took the people who were complaining about Ressetti and made all villagers less angry

Think its safe to say that all the animals in every game REALLY don't like pitfalls yes even in New Horizons where everyone is positive they really do lash out.
I think regardless of which game in the series you played first, you can remember always torturing that one neighbor that hated your guts from day one.

I got Katt to walk into a pitfall in New Horizons. One of the angry dialogues she had was essentially her just screaming "AHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!" Then she's like, nope, still not outta my system AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHH.
As much as I want to torture my New Horizons villagers for being so basic-minded, I can’t because they don’t really care.

It really feels like pitfalls are the only real way to get these villagers to show any kind of emotion lol. I've never seen any of them express the glee emotion. I've only seen Katt express it once, and I'm seriously doubting if I remember it correctly or if it happened in New Leaf instead.

One time I pushed Winnie into a pitfall out of boredom and afterwards she said “SOOOOOOOO LAAAAAAAAAAAME!” “Who would put a pitfall and just leave it there?!”
I did the same to Bob out of boredom and afterwards he said “Stay away, you’ll catch my sad…”

I recently did it to my villager Tybalt in retaliation after this Treasure Hunt challenge, he did not bury it in a decent location on my island, gave me too little time to try finding it (3 minutes), then sent him a letter with advice on being considerate of participants.
I love that pissed gesture they have if they pitfall or you repeatedly slap them.
For me the first version is the best despite the graphics

I really like how the pitfall is more generally understood as a prank tool in ACGC. Of course the villagers would know that a pitfall exists (since you can only really get it from them anyway)! I do definitely like ACGC's angry dialogue best. It's just so weird and over the top. I will say Tybalt's dialogue from NH did get me to snicker though...
Compared to ACGC, the later pitfall dialogue seems like...less effort is put into it?

The Wild World footage was taken off the Wii U, right? How did you get the entire bottom screen shown without any of the top screen being in view?
Nintendo modified the Wii version so the top screen has the actual gameplay
@@MeTrabi66 What? This is the Wii U version. There was no Wii version. And the bottom screen is what is being prioritized in this video, not the top.

"Villain"? Either Samson is calling you a "bad-guy" villager (Though thanks to Smash we got Killager, or at least the portrayal of Villager as a blood thirsty killer) or he's been hanging out with Big Top a lot.

Honestly, if I've played Population: Growing as a kid, I would've spent most of my time finding and digging pitfall seeds for cranky/snooty characters to fall in. I *would've been scared* to have my bells/items taken away from me, or my roof painted. Definitely glad they don't steal or paint your roof, anymore.

Really just screenshots of new leaf? I expected a video clip.
In New Leaf there was pitfalls all over the Town. I never understood why they were there. Maybe the old Mayor hated the town so much that he planted the pitfalls just to make the villagers suffer and blame you (the new mayor) for it.
@stupid rat Well my friend if you want to see this game being well respected I recommend you check out this creator by the name of Chuggaconroy who did a Lets play on that game in 2013. You're going to like it.
@stupid rat I'm going to guess because of how hard it is to get high quality footage of New Leaf. You need a special catpure card that is attached to the motherboard of the system. Same for all handheld devices. But Wild World is on the Wii U eShop, so recording it is a lot easier.
@stupid rat it's because he doesn't have the capture card to record it, it's not that he dislikes it its cause he cant record the 3DS.
It’s not just the “rudeness” that got toned down, it’s clear that the localisation team did a pretty lousy job writing the villagers lines in general

I don't have a capture device for 3DS. The system can't be played on a TV, so any capture device needs to be specific to the 3DS (and installed into the system).
