In 2006 or 2007, don't remember exactly, I got my first proper racing wheel, the G25. I could not believe it the time, it was my dream to have it and my parents put some money into it, together with some of my saved pocket money i finally got it for about 180 dollars. I loved it and could not put it down. Loved to cruise around with it in Test Drive Unlimited and push the limits in Live For Speed. Man, that R8 in LFS... Sounded pure beast. Then, as I was using the left button on the wheel extensively for TC override, it slowly stopped working. It was kind of buggling my mind, so I called the Logitech customer support without really knowing what to expect. After all, I had warranty, and well they did not disappoint. I remember the conversation word by word even though it was more than 10 years ago. The guy said, that they can not fix it. They also don't have the G25 anymore, UNFORTUNATELY. He can offer instead the new model, G27!!! "But, I really love my G25, do I need to ship it back?" - "No sir, you may recycle your old model as you wish."
I was left speechless as a kid, I felt like it was a prank call. I just couldn't believe it. 2 days (!!!) later a van arrived with a shipment from Logitech. I will never forget this and will always have Logitech in my heart, even though I must look for other brands now, as they fell behind the competition. (When it comes to racing wheels...)
Sorry for the novel, but I felt like it's a good place to share this... Have a great day, have Logitech! :)

They will become scarce the more time goes by but so will everything that beats it as well. If they were built with some high quality materials or something then i could see why they would be going up in value.

any one that owns a G25/7 should upgrade the plastic tracking wheel for the optical tracking sensor to a metal one, as the tracking can fail due to the original plastic one cracking over time and making the wheel track incorrectly, helped save a friends G27 with this fix.

Still using G27, liked it and still like it, with modded brake. I was waiting for the G29 ....but seems like Logitech is not interested of sim racing equipment anymore. G29 was almost the same as G27, but less, and too pricey. So not "upgrading" to a Logitech product anymore. G27 works perfectly after years and years of rather heavy use. Only annoyance is that every Windows update seems to break the Logitech profiler.

    • @dan1R7.5

Hey CGuerrila, DFGT, G29, and now T300 owner here.
If u accept tips, go for the T300 or even the TS-PC if it is on your budget, it will transform your experience on the SIMS, coming from the G29 and T150 i was blown away by the ffb of the T300 and some people says TS-PC/TS-XW improves a lot the FFB compared to T300.
Also, i had some problems with the logitech profiler in some games (crashes, not opening etc...)

    • @cguerrilla7315

Thanks for the tip. I will definitely try to find some more advanced wheel sooner or later. G27 FFB feels pretty rough ... and the huge deadzone is sometimes a problem. G27 does it's job, I'm able to be fast with it, but I still think I'm missing a lot of the FFB information.

I wouldn't even have a wheel if this didn't exist. I wanted nothing less than the whole package of a wheel, three pedals and shifter, and there was nothing like the G27 at a reasonable price. And the best part is that it just works: I've tried dozens of games old and new and even emulators, and in most cases I don't even have to remap anything. I bought it second hand and have used it for years without a hitch - best logitech hardware I've had by far.

I bought this model 2 years ago. It's a great steering wheel. The only problem with these is that they don't hold well on the surface of a desk or table and the pedal block slides away on the floor whatever the surface is. It's really annoying. Having a stand is a must. I'v ordered a Next Level stand on Amazon. I was lucky cuz during this time the mounting kit for flight simulator was included in the stand kit, but not anymore. These stands are more problematic than the steering wheel itself.

    • @PitAngelx

I simply put my pedal block on a yoga mat and I also put my chair on the mat, this way nothing is moving. It's a pretty cheap way of keeping everything together without having to buy/store a stand, which can be cumbersome

i got my g27 used for around 120 euro. the only g27 for sale in latvia at that time, so i knew i had to have one, as 5 years prior to that, me and my friend played with his g25, and i loved the force feedback and manual shift w clutch as a kid. so for my birthday, me and my mom went to see it, and i fell in love while testing it in dirt 4. so thats how i have a g27.
mods i have done are pedal inversion thingy that i made my self, and now im making a hydro handbrake from an old Chinese game controller.

I've got my G27 since 2010 and it's been brilliant since all that time, never failed on me. I was blown away by how good it felt on the PS4 (plugged with CronusMax) specially on Assetto Corsa and GT Sport. In GT Sport, I managed to get to A Rank with pretty good consistent lap times and sometimes not too far from the top 10 superstars. Even for a 8 years old wheel, it's a very good affordable choice for the PS4 and PC. I definitely recommend for a beginner or an advanced sim racer with not much money to go for the G27 but I would strongly recommend the NIXIM brake mod for better accuracy in trail braking (or nailing heal and toe).
I recently went for the Fanatec CSL Elite, yea it's a whole another level... I went for something newer because I did felt I was on the limits of precision thanks to the dead zone of the G27 and with the CSL Elite I was a bit quicker than my previous G27 lap times. No doubt you can go fast with the G27, but don't expect to be on the top 10 superstars easily unless you fix the dead zone.
I'll still keep my G27, looks like Gran Turismo devs can't properly set up the CSL Elite for GT Sport even with the March update (everybody hates that understeer ratling...) so fortunately the good old G27 is on service.

G27 was the first wheel I bought. Suffered from a de-centering issue where over 5 minutes the center position would drift until the wheel would be unusable. You would have to replug it back in to reset constantly, and couldn't even complete a decent length stage. Went through countless forum threads and tried every fix under the sun (costing me even more), but it never worked properly. The G27 is made with the same QC as most Logitech products I've had the displeasure of using, and this one, like about 50% of the other Logitech products I've used was essentially DOA or broken into unusability by QC issues. Do not give that company your money.

Mine broke after around 2 years of ownership (G29) and it was fun while it lasted. The buttons on the wheel stopped responding all together so I scrapped it.

I had one I bought it the day it came out. Used it for awhile then replaced it with a Fanatec GT2 due to its ability to work on PS3 and XBOX 360 The way it delivers feedback is kinda harsh, clunky, and loud. The Fanatec is better IMO but not by a lot. The materials on the logitech are great for the price point and I still use that pedal set with my rig to this day.

I'm going to hopefully buy one tonight for $150, in the photos it looks decent except one of the cables has had a little repairs done to it, not sure how the ffb will feel due to me not knowing how much it's used. I can't wait to get it, I already have a lot of mods I want to put onto it

I know it's been 2 years now but I still watch this video because it's just unbelievable how you found that bargain but now I realise that the pedals are from a g25 I think. It's because the brake pedal is too far from the gas. Idk maybe I'm dumb but I know they solved this issue (brake pedal being too close to the clutch) with the g27 and g29/920.

I still play assetto corza and forza all the time on my g27, but its not my original. When i first bought the wheel for 250 on ebay and it was the original box! Only downside was the sensor for the clutch was broken so it never worked. Eventually i got in touch with logitech and they told me to send it back and they would give me a new one but turned out to be the new box but still works great.

Good on ya. Hope it does you justice. I'm still trying to find me a cheap but good condition G27 because my DFGT pedals are faulty due to bad potentiometers. Plus I think I'm ready to upgrade to something that has a clutch and H pattern shifter.

I wouldnt quite consider them unicorns. They actually have been pretty reliable for a lot of people over the years and can still can be had cheap if youre willing to look through all the dreamers trying to rip people off selling them for double or more than what theyre worth. If anything, theyre the Hondas of the racing wheel world. Cheap, reliable and super fun if youre not too picky about perfection. And the mods you can do to them are pretty simple and help out a lot with the feel of the whole setup.

It's got a nice feel overall. My only issues are that it's pretty easy to jam the gear lever on the tips of H splitters. For instance, try to shift from 2nd to 3rd and you end up jamming it on the splitter separating 1st and 3rd. It does feel rather mushy if you apply a small input to the wheel. Having mostly played on PS3 with it on GT6, I haven't used it in 2 years and since I'm playing sims on PC now, I find it very difficult to port it to Assetto Corsa and to a lesser extent rFactor 2. I have installed the profiler but it doesn't seem to be doing a hell lot when working (mind that I'm also rather new to PCs). I would really appreciate some help here actually.

US gets IT and gaming stuff so cheap... I just bought one of these for £120 ($160) and it was a steal. They ebay for about £200+, pretty much new price for a used wheel. This auction had 6d23h on it, so I think it had literally just gone up, he hadn't checked the actual worth of them on ebay and no one else had noticed it yet, as the others had starting bids of £100+ There are NO 3 pedal manual controllers available for £100 or less.

For $80 it's a good deal but once you get up to $150 or more, get a Thrustmaster. I picked up a Thrustmaster TX Ferrari 458 set for $140. It is leagues better than these Logitech setups. I still have a G920 but plan on selling it now.
The pedals from Logitech are junk compared to a T3PA. Not even close to the same resolution. The T3PAs all come with the conical mod now.

Still using the G27 with custom quick change f1 and 35 cm wheel, modded shifter and stock pedals.
Its not so important that its not very strong. the clunkyness is what i dislike. Since the first time i own it i have always the fear it brakes internally doing its ffb, but its 8 years old now. Sometimes i wish it will brake, haha, but it will not :)

  • @jeromevet007

and thats how it's done , i have mine for 100euro's 2ndhands ! , great wheel ! and saved a huge amount ! go for 2ndhands wheel if your looking for a logitech. all the logitec wheel are the same internaly. the g25 is stronger in ffb than the g27 and the g29 is even weaker. if i would spend money in a new wheel i would buy a fanatec of a thrustmaster these days. ( better internaly and belt driven )

How do you find the FFB on DriveHub? My DriveHub gives weaker feedback over using my G29 plugged straight in. Have you noticed this?

  • @robpesantezza5285
    @robpesantezza5285 6 лет назад

Great video and also great deal with the g27. But with the cronus max you won't get a real force feedbak, the adapter just simulate the force feedback.

    • @Nuphantom
      @Nuphantom 6 лет назад +1

I can tell you fist hand the Drive Hub gives you 100% real force feedback on the g27 and other wheels. And is 1:1 the same as the g29 which I also own. I actually purchased the Drive Hub to use the g29 to play Forza 7 on XB1 which also works fantastic. It's not like the other converters that rely on a center force lock in loo of Force feedback. The Dive Hub allowed me to bring my G27 out of storage and like William I have really enjoyed the experience. Great review..
