As someone who contributed to THG's indigogo like 8 or 9 years ago I'm in utter shock at the amount of progress that your team is making Mike. I am not here to bash anyone, but this really highlights even more the difference in leadership and decision making. Anyway can't wait to play this, keep up the great work.
THG is doing tons and tons of reworks, also they have no concept of releasing something and then updating it as they go. They keep coming up with new things to add that delays the release of the project..... Also they said many times no more side projects and they are still doing sideprojects...
@@AlexandruCarjansorry although I like THG, they barely provide updates, they keep changing direction and I can guarantee you that a lot of people are confused as to what it is now because I am. This looks straight forward and really good planning.
It speaks volumes that you place such an emphasis on highlighting your team in this preview. I worked a sizeable chunk of my life in graphic design, and that is truly unique. As far as your period-style fascination. I always thought you were simply a dapper young man.
I'm absolutely hyped for this project, and very glad that your entire team doesn't feel too rushed to meet a deadline. Honestly, though, it's the airships that excite me the most. With Titanic: Honor and Glory basically building an entire ocean liner from the ground up with every nut and bolt and rivet, I am so grateful that someone is putting the same level of detail into a method of transportation that no longer exists in any form today: the dirigible!
The reveal of the 3D hull plating actually gave me goosebumps, how amazing! I can't imagine how it could look any better but each update it somehow does haha. so excited for this
The author of Hindenburg 3D, and I think, Hindenburg VR, on Steam, is Michal Barta, of publisher: 3DA. I still have the apps, and I really think this dev would be a valuable asset to the team.
I simply can't wait to walk around on board Empress of Ireland, she's quickly become one of my favorites. Now, if I could but twist your arm to someday give us one of the four Kaiser-class sisters (preferably Kronprinzessin Cecilie, my favorite German liner)... Keep up the great work, Mike, and everybody on your team, thank you for this.
Mike, the exponential growth of Grand Voyage, even in its gestation period, finds me agog with admiration at the skills on show here. Its an extraordinary project, and when it goes live we're all going to be like kids in a candy store. You are offering us a doorway into the glamorous side of the past. With that in mind, and I know you've all got so much on your plate right now, but I wonder if historic aircraft travel could one day find a niche?- I'm thinking of something like the Short C- class flying boats, or the Handley Page HP42 airliners, with their Pullman car style interiors, winging their way to the Empire's furthest corners in the 1930s. Smaller scale projects, for sure, but with an equal allure of that vanished age.
Are there plans for an VR mode? Would fit perfectly into the concept since you can really see the dimensions of these models and would truly bring them back to life. A great project, looking forward to it anyways 👌
What I love about this project is that this is one of the last projects that are done purely done to bring history back to life without money being the main motive behind its creation, This is amazing and inspiring 👏
Man, this is cool! I love the detail of the background music at the bar. I don't write that kind of music all the time, but when I do, I always have fun.
The words to Herb Nacio Brown's song, "You Stepped Out of a Dream," come to mind with just how wonderful this is. To see these gorgeous, previously forgotten, engineering and architectural marvels brought back to life so vividly is a dream. However, as seen aboard a virtually empty Queen Mary 2, the people are everything. Adding in people, in period dress, complete with music, interior and exterior decor, and technology, is nothing short of magic. We are technologically within spitting distance, with AI, VR and CGI, to creating a "holodeck" experience for the masses. As someone blessed to have visited the original RMS Queen Mary in Long Beach many times, growing up in California, to constantly learning more about the history of pop culture and transport in the early 20th Century first-hand, living near Southampton, England, the realism you bring to all your videos is absolutely stunning. Thank you and the OLD Team for your extraordinary work and for presenting these vehicles with the majesty they deserve.
This looks incredible! Cannot wait to experience this, amazing job thus far and so glad I found your channel ... have learned so much about maritime history and amazing job from your crew. Again ... CANNOT WAIT!!!
the altimiter looks like it is tilted so 0 altitude is when the needle is vertical. this is only my speculation, but it follows the same logic used in racecars to tilt the tachometer so the rpm for when you shift up gears is also vertical, so you can look at the needle at a glance and not have to read the numbers. if it's not vertical, you're not there yet.
Thanks for the progress update. Sorry to hear it's going to be nearly a year on, before we get our hands on this game, but I'm sure it will be well worth the wait. Very much, looking forward to this. Oh, you mentioned Hindenburg. There's a 3D modeler out there who produced a very high detailed model of Hindenburg on Steam, Android, and iOS. I think I still have that app, and will update my post with his contact info. I think he'd be a valuable asset to the dev team for Grand Voyage.
Huge thank you to you all not just for your hard work. But the level of detail is extraordinary love the passion the team has. Keep up the amazing work and can't wait to see the download button on steam.
This game is looking insane and the fact that you’ve gotten this much work done in so little time just amazes me and also that you guys are reaching for a beta in February man how fast you’ve gotten this done is awesome I’m extremely excited for this game and very excited to hopefully explore some my favorite Cunard and P&O liners I will definitely check out the patron
I just want to be able to blow the ships horns. It's an amazing little project you all are putting together, with nothing little about it. I'm amazed at the difference just between the last video and this.
Fantastic!! Cannot wait!! Will there also be the option to actually sail and/or control her? I absolutely love anything nautical and would love to not only be able to experience walking around the ship but also be able to captain/crew her.
The altimeter angle, height Coxswain stands at his wheel to the right, turns to his left and up to see the dial, that angle when he turns is the best angle for him to see it clearly. Sounds odd but that's the reason. Have a freind that's created a CGI of R101 inside and out to great using origional plans and detailed photos. His detail is breathtaking. Look forward to seeing this :-)
Light switches are okay, but the interactivity I think we'd all like to see is ringing down to the engine room on the telegraphs on the bridge and standing at the helm and steering.
This is so amazing! I'm especially excited to see how populating the ship will affect the experience. Will you be programming ocean changes along with the weather. It would really make the experience seem real if the ocean gets rougher with the storms. I suppose that would also have to affect the motion of the ship. I can't imagine the amount of work that goes into creating this game. I'm properly blown away! :)
Breathtaking, and exceeding expectations once again! A question and a suggestion. First: is it conceivable that Lakonia’s model might be able to be back-dated to JVO, or perhaps even her sister with the even more fun to say name? Second: when you get around to Aquitania, how about a character model of Leonard Peskett to explain features about certain spaces?
This is the game that me as a kid would go insane over. I guess as a young adult even still, I'm going (slightly) insane. I'm beyond excited to see how this all shapes up.
I know this is very early on but hopefully in the future since we are going to have an NPC to control, please make it so that the NPC actually grabs the doors to open/close them, or when interacting with other elements :)
I have a question about the game, are any of the ships controls be interactive? things like the telegraphs helm or whistle? ive rarely saw any games do that and that would be nice to see
Jumped on as a supporter on Patreon for the top level! This is the first I have heard about this and what an absolute dream come true! And done by someone that is passionate, so you know it will be amazing!!! Will there be any access into machinery spaces on any of the ships? Thanks for doing this!!!
Very cool. I’m not a gamer but perhaps this will be my first. I’m also curious would you, Mike, consider being a tour lead for a QM2 crossing with those of us fans who are ship enthusiasts? Cheers and looking forward to joining
I could easily see horror mods for this, maybe even a noir mod where you're solving a crime, since there is the news there will be NPCs. excellent looking project
Heartbroken that I can't support you financially, although I hope to change that eventually! If this game ever has voice acting, I'd be happy to contribute... ;)
when the game fully releases, will patrons get a copy (digital i assume)? absolutely signing up for it either way, i love all the goodies but this is a project i seriously want to support, for many reasons! it would suck a little bit though giving $14.50 CAD a month for half a year or so then having to buy it again lol i joined patreon as soon as i started watching this video so if the question is answered later in the video, i apologize
Even though my sense of trust in a games company was heavily damaged by the launch of Kerbal Space Program 2, this does look very good, and I am very excited, also to note, will this be on stream, or an install from a website, etc., would like to know, either way very exiting, and I am personally very excited
Totally a micro-hassle considering how the game is focused on maritime and not rail, but are the "Wig-Wag" style signals over the track at 0:45 rooted in any reality?? I don't think I've ever seen a configuration like that before for those particular warning lights..
Amazing models! My concern is that with this amount of beautiful detail on these ships, wouldn't it lag the game? (I'm using a MacBook so I was just wondering if it will blow my MacBook if I play the game later in the future)
If not officially supported, I'm sure there will be a mod. I'm currently supporting another Unreal Engine game in Early Access, and there's a robust modding community that made the game do things that even the developers couldn't imagine.
The cars on the Lakonia section for Liverpool are American with American number plates and not British and wouldn't have been sold in Britain at the time.Pick up trucks were not sold in Britain, we preferred Vans due to our weather. For Example look at the Morris J van and Mo minor Van variant and Austi V

Looks amazing! Excited to help out on the music side of things.

Your creativity plus teaching style combined is unbeatable. This is great !
I'm on the edge of my couch!!!
Those Lakonia bridge images made my jaw drop :0
This is *absolutely* gonna be worth the wait 👍
Congrats, my friend from Oceanliner Designs - great project! Keeping thumbs crossed!

For queen mary, You should make a museum mode, Like as queen Mary is today. I think it would be a great addition.
Those ships are beautiful, what a great job ❤️

Wow, great upgrades in realism and detail! Very exciting seeing the classic era of sea travel recreated like this.

have you figured out a price yet? or a DLC pack?

Is this going to be on AppStore?
Is all of this available right now?
