The 2½ dollar gold coin has a total mintage of 39,364 and is of the "old reverse" design (the more desirable of the two designs). It looks to be almost uncirculated with a PCGS Price Guide value of $1000 - $1350. Great find!
You are correct. I took a good look at this coin of course and its in awesome condition. Looks like it wasn't carried for too long.

Thanks Greg, I truly never saw it coming. I thought it was those gold foily pull tab things and Cindie is yelling "its a gold coin"! I was just in denial. When I am out detecting I don't ever think Gold coin. Yeah in a little spot in the woods but that spot has some history in the mid 1800s but you would never know it today. Its been picked before by others but they missed this one because of the low tone.
I got some crap from some people who I guess think they are God and think they own you and the coin. LOL One crazy lady was harassing me so I blocked her and reported her to YT. Bunch of nut cases! But for some reason, all the people around me would find those level up coins. And I was kind of bummed to find regular reales and or regular large cents. Becsuse seeing the other coins Mike or Joe would get. Devalued the things i would find. I would be like "great another slick half reale" and throw it in my bag.as if it was clad. BUT finally I hit it. And I'm feeling as good as ever man. Its not an American gold coin, but its probably the next best thing. 😎😎

We got into this because it was something fun to do and we can spend time together doing something we love. And why not post a few videos to see where it goes and maybe make a dollar or 2? LOL So why would I even video a live dig on what was a pulltab VDI?! As soon as I saw gold I immediately called Cindie over and she’s yelling GOLD! Turned on my camera, LOL I still really did not believe it. But sure enough. So then here comes the bullies!!!! People say it’s the governments coin even though that ended in 1974 I think. Last I saw it was still in my possession! LOL I cant help its in almost perfect shape. Maybe I went out and bought it and spent $500-1000? To put in a hole and find it??? LOLOL are you kidding me! Then there are the appraisers! Lol Do they think I don’t own a red book???!! And its not worth 500k! LOL Anyway enough of the mental cases out there. Greg you are going thru or were going thru what I think all of us serious detectorists go thru. I go thru it all the time. Its difficult because either yourself or someone else is always raising the bar. Trust me Cindie and I watch you guys on LI and shake our heads at what you guys pull up out of a park!!! That is crazy! Parks don’t produce that here that’s why we are glued to woods and fields which finds are few and far between. And that’s after doing our homework. Like right now we are living on week to week videos. We have almost no buffer as the finds have slowed down. So that means more permissions and or travel. We look at you as KING! We have been watching your videos since we started and some of the stuff you have pulled is just crazy especially the volume. Yes I heard you have a sick find so I really cant wait to see the vid on this one! No pressure lol. I am so glad you hit it, just remember that this rollercoaster ride happens, its normal, and remember why we ultimately do this. Along the way we have been introduced to some great new friends, YOU, Joe, Mike, Emma, Pat, and just countless others. One day I believe we will all get to hunt together when the timing is right and it will be epic just because we are all together having fun detecting! Ok that’s it! I know gold coins will be in the ground for a while becsuse of the low signal, a lot of people will skip it, which is kind of good that their a low tone!! Man i really hope to find a U.S gold coin like that, the thumbnail is perfect. 😂😂😎...The better you do, the more people hate. And a gold coin like that, will trigger all of them. All the "you ruined the coin" people, "that coins fake" people, "you planted the coin" people, "your dig holes suck" people lol etc. Some people try to metal detect for profit, I know this becsuse I see so many amazing coins for sale online, and a lot were dug up. People wish they found it so they could sell it, but screw them, you're gonna cherish it like you should. Its amazing brother! Feel good when you have haters 👊 it means your doing something right. 😎😎
Being around Joe, Pat, Mike & Emma the bar is always being raised. I have a month of great finds i didn't video at all. I just had mikes flowing hair and Joe's Portuguese reale and pistereen stuck in my head during every find. I would get say an 1814 half reale, and I would be like "really cmon" I show the guys and they'd be like "nice" I wanted to find something where eveyone would go absolutely nuts. Because I enjoy when they find something that makes me go nuts, but when it happens frequently, I kept questioning "why couldn't I just walk over 1 of those coins" I felt like eveytime there was the grand slam coin. I would miss it. I would find everything beside the "freak out time" coin. And I have the wiped reale curse. The reales i find are in such bad shape, all people say is "oh wow that's a slicky" they don't even say "nice". 😂😭 but I now got my best find ever, it was my best hunt in general ever! Long Island is so interesting. Locations vary so much, growing up i always knew "long island used to be all farmland" it really was. If you can find any patch of land, untouched. Even surrounded by 1970 homes, you can find colonial stuff. We should do trips to eachothers land and all meet up. Or meet in the middle in Jersey. Something. Or we can go to digstock upstate too.
