I like the name of this puzzle. Modern times was a movie with Charlie Chaplin. At one part of the movie he is interwoven with the gears of a big machine. This puzzle is all gears. The name fits.
This puzzle was a bit simple, but it is a beautiful design: colorful. I like it.
It would have been cooler if there was some sort of indicator to show you that you solved it.. perhaps a secret drawer. Or a spring in the middle that shoots a coin at your face. Anything really would have been suffice lol. cool design tho.

I'd count the "slightly misaligned", it made me laugh.
If you use the colors on the four sides and align them to match, the four corners tell you the combination

I find it strange that this is sold as a remake. Look at both products you linked (the original & this one). The original only allows you to manipulate 2 of the 4 gears via small gears on the side, the rest is covered by a plastic pane. Here you manipulate all gears directly, so this is way easier. I think the original one, once you figured out how to match the 4 disks, would still be quite a challenge.

PCL World it’s cliche and commonly associated with 1st grade teachers telling their students what colors are.
This is one of those puzzles we will get in a computer game of sorts and spin hour head for hours before coming to the solution. I like your approach.
It doesn't seem like a 3/5. The first way you thought of to solve it was the right way, and it's the same method I would have tried.

It's a visually appealing puzzle. The colors are beautiful, but I'm surprised it received a 3. I thought you'd give it a 2, or even a 1.
I think the way you did it is the most reasonable. I would have probably done it that way too. :)

On the thumbnail, and even when it lay flat on Mr Puzzle's table..it totally looked like an animation

I don't think so. Would be interesing but also require a second solution for the sides.

Very nice and colourful puzzle.
Looks kind of fun to work on but then anticlimactic to actually solve. It doesn't even pop into place or anything... It should definitely be made to work like a combination to open a box.

Mr.Puzzle I think these puzzle’s would get exponentially* difficult with each additional gear. Kinda like twisty cubes do.
*not that fast but very fast.

This reminds me of the "rubiks clock puzzle" I did when I was younger. I never found out if I had to make both sides face 12 oclock or just one, though I ended up doing both just in case. I'm not a fan of computer RGB lights, so this one looks a little off to me, though I love the puzzle itself, plus the nostalgia factor from the rubks clock :) Great video

No, as usual for Constanting puzzles they come without any instruction. Which can be definitely improved. However, you can read about the target on several webstores.
