  • When building RPG terrain, texture is everything. In this video we'll look at what texture rollers do, what materials work with them and what are some of the applications. If you are creating tiles for Dungeons & Dragons, terrain for your Warhammer games, or buildings for your scale modeling, texture rollers could be and important tool in your toolkit.

Just found this video trying to figure out what a texture roller is. Thanks for the great introduction to all this.

You’re very welcome. I like building textures with foam bricks but it really gets time consuming. Rollers really speed up the process. All the best!

Perfect accent of "das". Sounds perfect to me as an native German speaker ;)

If you are having trouble using the pasta machine to do sacrifices you should do it with a mate. My Italian chef mate always had an off sider while using it.
    Hope this helps.

Not sure what you are doing but blue foam takes texture roller imprints just fine.

Thanks for the tip! Absolutely! Blue foam can be used with texture rollers. I find it's a little springy so the only thing I'd add is you want rollers with really pronounced and fairly deep textures. I'm using polymer clay which can take very fine detail. Now... it's also pricey and I only roll thin sheets of texture so it's more steps and more cost. If you're building a truck load of tiles, foam is a really good option. Thanks for calling that out! Cheers!

If you're building a lot of terrain or doing a lot of modeling, rollers cut down the time and give such nice results. It doesn't replace the joy or zen of building with blue foam bricks but sometimes ya just gotta crank it out. Thanks for watching!

How do you use this make terrain? What's the skin looking stuff?

That material is Super Sculpey. It's an oven-bake polymer clay that is really nice for modeling. It's a bit brittle when it's really thin so ya need to back it up with something more substantial. It's really tough in chunks. I like it because I can rework it or throw it back in the box for another day if I'm not liking how things are turning out. Epoxy putty, like Green Stuff... that's one shot and it will set whether you like it or not. Thanks again for subscribing!

You really need to film/use more closeups! Can't see half of what you're maling

Thanks for the input. You're not the first to notice that. I have tried to get better at closeups. If ya take a look at the Warhammer Levitation video there are some better closeups. Let me know if that is better! Cheers and thanks for watching!

@@RandomMakingEncounters That one is indeed much closer eh... better! :-) Could you maybe put up some links to the grey plastic rollers? I have a dozen of the Greenstuffworld pins, but need some more defined ones for harder foam.
