I built a Mk1 golf with a Audi s3 engine and unfortunately sold it 6 years ago, watching this video brings back some great memories. It used to eat 911’s and aerial atoms, such a fun retro pocket rocket and watching this video makes me miss it. Great video LLF

I've had a bunch of turbocharged cars. Dsm's,civic b18b turbo,335i n55,and my mk5 and mk6 were always fun to drive..! This makes me want to get a mk1 with the same set up. I love this car. Great job,and great video...!!! 👍

Wow! What a drive.. Only had one run out in a Golf gti mk1 years years ago. I knew that it was a real drivers car within a mile or two. Prompted me to get a mk2 gti not long after. One of the best cars I’ve had. Still kind of wish that I’d looked for a decent Mk1. But, there you go..

I always wanted a 20v turbo conversion when I had a mk1 gti. Absolutely awesome car you have there! Youre a tall guy Danny, get some padding on that roll cage if you drive it with out a helmet and get those harnesses tightened down properly 👍🏼

I’d go vr6 swap personally but that’s what makes his build commendable; everyone goes the vr6 route but he went with a 1.8T. I can’t help but think how much quicker the car would’ve been with those mods on a vr6 though. The natural torque of the vr6 would’ve helped fill the out-of-boost response and would’ve made the lag less noticeable. Proper build though so congrats to this guy for doin it right👍
I have a very similar setup in my mk2 Golf gti (around 300bhp bigger turbo etc etc). My turbo spool/engine/exhaust sound is also very similar to this mk1 and I can confirm everything he says about these cars. They are absolutely awesome.

Love my 20vt mk1. Weighs 900kgs with a simpler rollcage and upsets 80% of stuff on trackdays. Wish mine was this clean though 👌
