I have to agree about Chanel #5. I'm 66, and I have tried it off and on my entire life. I could never figure out why millions of men and women across the world adore that fragrance...and I cannot abide it! I latched on to the 1981 Original Gianni Versace for Women in 1981 and never wore anything else...but it's been long discontinued and I'm trying to branch out so as to preserve what I have left. Soooo...this past week, I've been going down a rabbithole, learning about scents and notes. Not only does Chanel #5 have that green aldehyde top note, but aldehyde's entire "raison d'etre" is to hook up with other fragrances in combination...and in my note, at any rate, it's hooked up with the vetivier and patchouli base notes and is holding on for dear life. So...green multiplied by green and more green. I don't hate green fragrances but they must be "judiciously" used. A little goes a long way...but not so for Chanel #5. It is "green overboard to the death". However...at least I know.
