James and Kirk are the most amazing riff duo in history.
Na
Zacky Vengeance and Synyster Gates look at each other and say “Hold my beer”
They wouldn't even exist without Stratton/Murray and Smith/Murray.
James Kirk, huh?
@@Robert_Douglass James hetfield and kirk Hammett
That first harmonized section between James and Kirk is one of my favorite Metallica moments. Period. Definitely the best moment on that album too.
I absolutely adore this solo and love that you play both James and Kirk’s guitar parts and show them
One of the coolest things I've ever done was to play this with my band live.
15 years? Geeze, man. I remember when they were celebrating Master of Puppets 20th anniversary. And now I realize itll be 40 years soon. My how time flies.
Damn well done! \m/
Yeah, that's CRAZY. I saw Metallica on the 20 years of Puppets tour. I can't believe how fast time is flying.
Top three Metallica albums:
1. And Justice for All
2. Master of Puppets
3. Death Magnetic
Thats a hill I will die on.
One and fade to black quality. Underrated song and album.
The whole song has riffs that remind me of other songs
ripped off themselves to give fans what they wanted. least creative metallica song
@@zummazummabaccalait's not more a rip off than sanitarium or one, all are riding fade to blacks coattails
@@mr.iiconic that's Just how they wrote back then, now dug up ages After for commercial purposes
@@zummazummabaccala right, because a writing style has an expiration date. What's actually happening is you're being selective to match your own personal narrative.
What a song, at this point not doubt it should be consider a modern classic
I love how you mirrored the top and bottom guitars
If ONLY the album had the same huge production and all encompassing massiveness of something like Ride the Lightning, or Black album. The songs are fantastic, but the boxed in, desert dry production just robs it at times of how epic it all should have been. I love the album, but when the songs aired live, man, they sounded so more open, huge and heavier. The S&M version of this song is magnificent aswell, and hell yeah this is some of their best lead work in their modern timeline. Excellently Executed here, as always.
I’ll never forget when this single dropped
same
0:54 What about Rob’s riff??? That part before the solo is just mind-blowing 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
absolutely
@@StateOfMercury I just listened to it again and, you know, Holy Fuckkkkk!!! What a fucking brutal riff!!!!!!!
On DM’s anniversary as well! Definitely my favourite album of the 21’st century 🤟
You nailed it, wow. And yes, best part of the album, and maybe best thing they've done since 1991 ?
I’ll never understand why Metallica fans who only like the first 5 still sleep on this album
hard agree
@@StateOfMercury💯🤘🏼
Especially when there are things like Ahdy Khairat's remixes and remasters. If only Metallica themselves put out a DM remaster of that quality
@@tally5k339I haven’t heard that!
Facts, I remember when that album dropped it was like damn they are back 🤘
welcome to where time stands still
Awesome tribute to the album, Merc!
An off-topic request, but it's been agonizing me for a while, and I just NEED to see it come to life. If you ever get the time and inspiration, PLEASE, create an original Metallica-like song around "The Struggle Within" bridge riff. It's so epic that it deserves to be the main riff of a song.
If it's possible, I would love to see it come to life! Thank you!
def an interesting idea, ill see what I can do
@@StateOfMercury Sweeeet, thanks dude!!! \m/
*sigh* Why don’t we get ass-kicking ballads anymore? 😂🤘🏻
that fast riff before solo was roberto's contribution!!!
This has always been my favorite part of the song.
One of Metallica's BEST riffs and solos, hands down.
This is up there for my favorite kirk solos
Can you do a video about both James and Kirk solos in suicide and redemption please
+1 here! Took me many years to find out that it even existed when I was searching for a better mix of the Album. Such a bummer that it was released with that horrible mix 🤦🏼♂️
The Day That Never Comes is a masterpiece, up there with One
Can you reupload without the mirroring?
where the hell did FIFTEEN YEARS go?
I'll just stay down this time.
You nailed that bro🤘🤘🤘🔥🔥🔥
Do what if Apple Bottom Jeans was on Master of Puppets.
heart eyes emoji.
Amazing cover of such a great solo
You killed it dude!
Sacrilege time.
I like Death Magnetic more than kill em all (minus Cliff's bits) its my 4th fave met album.
First, and I was expecting end of the line honestly 😂
Yeah, wonderful job on a great solo!
First few notes sound like The Trooper
But will it push me to The End Of The Line?
Maybe if you hunt it down without mercy
This was great and VERY weird hearing at a reasonable volume level.
This, Moth and Bone are Metallica at their best again. If the whole of the last three albums were as good as these songs (and with a better, more metal tone than on the albums), then we'd genuinely have albums on the same level as the first four.
Yo
Of course it was gonna be that brickwalled line. 💀
Death magnetic is better than both kill em all, and the black album, that's my metallica hot take. Death magnetic is just full of bangers
And boy is that a hot take
@StateOfMercury thrashy songs with amazing riffs. U3 is the best of the trilogy, the day that never comes is metallicas 2nd best ballad (first being fade to black). My apocalypse riff is amazing. That was just your life is an amazing opening track
Is it just me or has Kirk not really had any memorable / badass solos since DM?
The only good one on the DM. But nothing's new, all licks are stolen from the AJFA (One and The Shortest Straw). Anyway, amazing cover, bro!
I think the song structure is similar to one and shortest straw, as far as licks, most of these licks are in every Kirk Hammett solo.
All Nightmare Long, Judas Kiss, Unforgiven III and Suicide & Redemption (James' part) all have amazing solos as well
naaaaa
Anyone else think this solo is sooooo meh, and typical Kirk-isms? Sounds like the type of solo I'd write for my first ever song at 16yo.
Great cover though, nailed it.
Kirk hasn't played a new lick since 1990. It's crazy to me how much metallica have regressed in skill, and even crazier how people actually defend their newer albums.
I agree. If you listen to solos from Ktulu, One or even Struggle Within, they're all very creative and have attention to note selection. I think they've all got way too comfortable with success and don't take risks in music anymore.
And prople he has no talent
