Part 6: • Chingy on Older Artist...
Part 8: • Chingy on Money Disput...
Part 1: • Chingy on His Family B...
--------
In this clip, Chingy spoke about his first album, “Jackpot,” which featured big hits like “One Call Away,” “Holiday Inn,” and “Right Thurr.” Chingy also shared a story about having dreams of working with Jermaine Dupri when he was a kid, who he would later work with on “Pulling Me Back” ft. Tyrese. From there, Shawn Prez asked about Keisha Knight Pulliam being his love interest in the “One Call Away” music video. Chingy explained that the point was to show Keisha grown up, and he added that Keisha’s brother is still close with Ludacris’ DTP crew. Chingy then spoke about things changing with his second album, and he explained that he never had his own lawyer while he was on DTP. Chingy went on to explain that his mother thought he needed his own lawyer, which she got from his hometown in St. Louis. Chingy added that the new lawyer told him that DTP was “stealing” from him, which led to a meeting with DTP and the new lawyer. Chingy pointed out that he was young and clueless at the time, and he explained that he was confused that the lawyer said DTP was stealing from him. Chingy added that this led to him leaving DTP and going to Capitol, and he added that the new label didn’t know how to handle him like DTP.

So we not gonna mention Jason Weaver? He killed the one call away hook

Jason weaver a black all star shit his album was koo in the 90s
Sick!! The foo from "Smart Guy" that guy was pretty solid!

Loved it
As he is talking that's the only song I hear in my head. Great song
I like him even more. He seems so humble and the fact he gives credit to names no one knows but he makes sure to give them props speaks volumes to me. Salute chingy!
Just cause y’all don’t know them doesn’t mean people don’t know them.
He is only humble now because he lost everything. Dudes an ass. I’m from saint Louis and saw how he treats people
Chaka owns DTP with Luda
You can tell Chingy still has respect for them despite how things played out. But it's funny how they stopped communicating with him instead of clearing it up and proving they didn't steal...I think the lawyer was telling the truth!
He needs to be on here often, he tells stories so well and only talks what interest people
No he need to get to the point

The fact that they stopped communicating with you after your lawyers said they were stealing should tell you everything you needed to know.
I don't get it
@@HBKTyrus After his lawyers said DTP/Ludacris was stealing from him they all of a sudden stopped talking to him.
Chingy was just happy to make it whether they stole from him or not ... If the lawyer says they are stealing that means he found something in the contract that would suggest so. Now, why would you schedule a meeting and accuse them of stealing if that wasnt the case? at least have the lawyer explain why he thought they were stealing and where were they taking that money from or rather where should you have been paid that they didnt disclose.. Little wayne was in the same situation for years until someone gave him game that daddy was stealing from him and baby fought it to the end and then gave him his 40 million ... Poor chingy is still confused
@@bjvu9460 Chingy gave us the quick version. I’m sure the lawyer presented his findings in more then just one meeting. And I’m not shocked at all, NUMEROUS rappers have this same story.

I've always respected Chingy for what he did in the early 2000s. I was only 10 years old when Jackpot came out and I literally heard that album everywhere. I definitely would not consider him to be one of worst rappers at all. There is a laundry list of artists deserving of that title though.
Chingy wasn't even in the same universe as worst rapper. I was around 20 qhen Jackpot came out, and everyone loved that whole thing.
I hate to think that Luda would have done anything dishonest to his artists. He made so much great music
Those people that make those lists are idiots. Hired and clueless on hip hop and rap.
Leaving your business to someone else is always the wrong move. Never leave your business affairs in someone else's hands. Never!
Facts....his money probably was being stolen....sure that's never happened in the music biz.....lol
It's impossible for an artist to take care of all his own business and navigate his career, that's why very few do it.
100%
No love for Jason weaver ?? That’s my favorite track from you my boy and he killed the hook .
He has spoken highly for Jason in multiple interviews
Let's be clear. When you have 4 SMASH HITS Back 2 Back 2 Back, you can't be one of the Top 50 worst rappers of all-time. This man ran it for a brief minute.
They only call him that because he wasn't talking about that ganxta shit
Anybody can make a hit song and can’t rap though lol especially at that time it was alot of rappers that couldn’t rap
Hell Vanilla Ice had a hit record, is that your point?
Billy Ray Cyrus had a hit record, what that mean.
Doesn't mean they didn't suck.
@@C-Lyfe85 yea but they didn’t have 4 hits in a row. Yea someone can suck and end up making a hit, but having multiple hits. The man had to have some skills.

As Diddy #1 fan I have to agree. People love claiming he stole but never mention when the artist clear up how they failed to learn.
Gotta love how 50 never blamed JMJ but used his money for a trade mark.

To be 100% honest, I think Luda feared Chingy being bigger than him. I believe Luda felt the same about 2 Chainz as well.
Yup
I fuck with luda but I heard he did alot of shady shit in the industry

Ehh, it was just the massive popularity Chingy had with the females that irritated Luda cause the ladies would come his concerts and all they would ask for is Chingy lol. But with Tity Boi (2Chainz) didn’t have the hustle and drive in him yet, I think Luda saw no use in trying to push him because of that
@@ez-duz-it I been to older shows with DTP and what you are saving is 100% correct. Chingy had the ladies and white folks going crazy.
Chingy was hitting back in the day. No one talks about Paperman, although that came way later after him being hot but that joint was dope too.
He was at the top of his game.
Chingy wanted to be signed with JD, and I like that he mentioned Kris Kross (RIP Chris Kelly), liked how he mentioned the actress from Cosby show. This interview is so good. I could listen to this all day. This interviewer should have interviewed Fredro Starr. But I like Chingy's videos. I wanted him to work with Brandy back then. The industry is full of snakes and greed. I'm not surprised that they were stealing money from Chingy. He did the right thing. We missed him because he just disappeared. I am glad he is saying that having a lawyer is important. A lot of artists are being controlled and manipulated financially and they don't even know it until it's too late. It's great to him share his story. His mother would be so proud of him because he didn't sound bitter and in pain like other artists. Chingy just seems to move past it and moved on. But he still made sure his voice is heard regardless. His storytelling never changes and he keep it real.
I respect him giving everyone their flowers from Jermaine Dupri, Chaka Zula, etc. 💯
I'm from Philly and the first time I seen an artist shut down the Gallery mall was Chingy. Puff didn't do it, Usher so many people, cause Philly just isn't that type of city, but that Friday he had to hide in the Modells sporting goods store till the mall close to get him outta there. Record Labels need more transparency with these artists just so there Is no confusion like show them weekly what's being spent and let them see and be notified of there debt that's adding up I'm pretty sure some artist will be awaken much faster but alot of them probably don't mind the loans thinking they'll be successful enough to pay the debt back.
It's kinda crazy how the industry as an institution has never faced any blowback, sanctions or imposed standards despite it's blatant violation of it's artists on so many levels
