In Fight Club, it's actually in the first few lines of dialogue by the narrator. "I know this, because Tyler knows this."
@@MC-24 Yup there is a LOT of foreshadow 🙂
:) if you're clever enough to get the ending by that line, I'll raise my hat.
By the way, I saw the movie at the cinema, and it was immediately one of my favorite movies. The twist was the icing on the cake, I already loved every minute til it happens. :)
The little boy reveals the ending to "The Prestige" in the very beginning. When the bird's "twin" is killed, he asks, "But where's his brother?" He knew there were two birds all along, and one had to die for the trick to work. It's not only hinting at Borden's secret, but eventually, Angier's as well.
Yes, but I think that’s clever foreshadowing rather than a direct give away of the plot.
@@steveglover6411 Oh, I totally agree. But you could say that about several of the films on this list.
There's also the fake Chinese guy who disappears the sphere by having it between his legs for several hours. Christian Bale makes a comment about "living the trick". And I think it's Hugh Jackman that does the bird trick, so we're given both of their philosophies of magic
The moment the geek appeared, it was pretty obvious how Nightmare Alley was going to end, yet the ending remained horrifying and profoundly sad. It's one of the best movies I've seen in many years.
It's also the same ending of the original
Forgot to mention that The Prestige literally has an impossible scene: Bale's character appears outside and inside an apartment within seconds, proving it's two different people to those smart enough to catch on.
They might need to rewatch 12 Monkeys. They got quite a bit wrong in their summary of the plot.
I was about to write the very same.
Agree. Bruce Willis's character had nothing to do with the release of the virus. Slightly sloppy work here.
@@stephenpiper5604 No, you understood wrong, too, or you made mistake mixing the character of Brad Pitt and Willis. In the video, they say Pitt's character is guilty, and his associate is the person who has the virus at the airport. In fact, Pitt's character has nothing do to with that person, some scientist who was close with his father, a famous virologist, and Willis is trying to stop him all the time, he made a mistake of thinking that Pitt's "12 monkeys" have something to do with the virus.
Total Recall (1990), where the entire plot of the movie is revealed to Arnold before he steps into the virtual vacation machine.
Honorable mention to Total recall when the events of the movie (ending included) are told...twice
You can tell the presenter didn't actually see The Usual Suspects with how they pronounce Keyzer Souze's name.
That was really getting under my skin. I haven’t seen the film, but I know it’s pronounced so-zay 🤦🏻♀️
It is really distracting from the whole video
She gets paid to talk lol 😆 of course she don't care
I agree, except that if you want to complain about how she pronounces it then you should spell it right too. There is not a u in the character's name
@@lucyhurst2534 PLEASE WATCH THE MOVIE!!! Even if you know!
I believe Terry Gilliam’s name is pronounced with a hard “G” as in grape. Not a soft “g” as in gem.
Don't forget "The interview". Franco's character tells pretty much how he escapes from Korea to the agent when they first take the job
The "G" in Gilliam is hard.
THANK YOU. Just like gif.
Guess you never watched The Usual Suspects. Butchering the name Kaiser Soze.
I was thinking the exact same thing!
These are just people reading a script.
@@mikespearwood3914 I understand that. But I want to believe they actually know what they are talking about.
@@limpydan5850 Lol! Then you're gonna be disappointed: this is a common occurrence on this channel.
@@mikespearwood3914 Well yeah. That's why I voiced disappointment. Nothing wrong with a little improvement. Or I could go your route I guess. "It is how it is, cause that's just how it is."
I am sure they have done this list about 20 times now, with just one or two different movies added or taken away.
I guessed the ending of Nightmare Alley at the beginning, still an awesome ending to a phenomenal film
To each their own but I put that movie on to go to sleep. It is so boring. I'm not joking everytime I have a hard time falling asleep I put it on and I'm out in 10 mins.
@@feck2594 LOL! Indeed, to each their own. I tried to watch Three Weddings And A Funeral about four times, and was out cold within the first ten minutes each time.
@@richardhart9204 three weddings and a funeral is hilarious!
Is it really that good? I’ll maybe watch it at the weekend. Is it on Netflix or Disney+?
@@woooooooo9061 ... great movie, watch it.
I don't know where you got the idea about the 12 monkeys having anything to do with the virus. That's the irony. They just freed the animals . David Morse character who spread the virus had nothing to do with Brad Pitt's character or the army of the 12 monkeys
The director of 12 Monkeys wasn’t getting the manic performance out of Brad Pitt that he needed, so he took away Pitt’s cigarettes for a few day and that is the performance that made it into the final film.
I never heard this before but remembering my mom when she quit smoking it definitely checks out.
Shaun of the Dead reveal was classic storytelling you don't see cleverness like that often
All three of the Cornetto trilogy do this. in The World's End , The pub crawl Gary recounts during the opening contains all the incidents that actually happened during the film, just without the blanks
I personally think its lazy that they use 2 of the 3 of the Cornetto Trilogy on the same list. I've read several other movies on the list ... Total Recall. Midsomare (sp?) What about Shutter Island how the supporting characters seem put out. No one seems afraid just cool calm... Not like when Andy escapes in Shawshank Redemption...the shock. The rush to find Andy etc
I actually figured out the murder alley for shadowing But then I convinced myself that wasn't the case and when it came full circle at the end I had an awe moment.
In the Prestige I'd like to think the brother didn't sleep with his technical sister in law and only focused on being an uncle and sneaking to have his "affair" with the woman he loved. That's why he apologizes to his brother and takes the final bow so his brother could still be a dad.
Nightmare alley reminds me of another movie Craig Denny's The Astrologer from 1976.
The Prestige also opens with a shot of all of the replicated hats created by the Tesla machine used by Angier at the end, showing that it replicates rather than teleports.
Having substance use disorder most of my life I thought I'd guessed the Nightmare Alley twist but once Cooper's character got to the point of believing he was infalable I knew it. Thinking you are above being capable of falling into or back into the disorder is the major sign it's time for your introspection to begin. The movie is a masterpiece.
Someone at WhatCulture could have given her a hint on how to pronounce 'Soze'!
Midsommer wasn't on this list because why? It literally had a tapestry that detailed the entire movie before it started
I was just ganna say this
The one note I'd add for Nightmare Alley is that it's not just booze they give the geek to hook them, it's booze laced with an even more addictive drug. They get them addicted then withhold both it and food so they will be willing to do anything to eat and get another taste of their drug as a reward later.
You forgot that in figth club there are scenes before tyler appears where they insert just a frame of him, leaving you thinking if you see it right or not, and after reveals that tyler does that in kids movies with porn frames.
Two I would’ve added were Saw (Jon had the traps drawn out on his hospital bed in the flashbacks) and Scream 2022. Not sure if that one realllly counts but Dewy called it out from the start. Lol
Bahaha the mid video ad is discribing old fashion cable TV.
I love Bowie as Tesla in that movie.
I absolutely loved Nightmare Alley. Such a good movie
When the end finally came in nightmare Alley, I was humbly shocked....it was something you were hoping wasn't going to be....but alas it did. However the transition of the protagonist is still astounding. Definitely an amazing movie that stands out these days in cinema. Worth the view!
RED Alexander Dunning Was Behind The entire plot of the movie an antagonist hiding in plain sight
Did the writer of this actual watch 12 monkeys?
Shawshank: there's a much more subtle clue. Alexandre Dumas' Count of Monte Cristo includes a prison and a tunnel for escape - though the prisoner pretends to be a dead man instead.
Haven't seen it in years but, IIRC, Time Crimes would fit on this list.
The Prestige was released in October of 2006, NOT 2004
What about Sixth Sense, I couldn’t believe I missed it. I feel really stupid, lol
But... that's not what happens in 12 Monkeys. Brad Pitt's character only wanted to free animals; it had nothing to do with the virus, which you find out right before the climaxof the film. The man who released the virus was a coworker of Brad Pitt's father. The father took away his own access to the virus to prevent his son from getting it, being told wrongly by Bruce Willis that Brad Pitt wants to steal it. He gives that access to his employee, who is the person that releases the virus. So by trying to prevent Brad Pitt from causing the end of the world, he gives the true culprit the ability to create the Apocalypse.
I figured out the ending of nightmare Alley at least an hour out from the end still good movie though
The movie Sole Survivor gives away the ending in the title….
The ending Nightmare Alley is also hidden in plain sight at the end of the original movie.
So 12 Monkeys is on here but you apparently never watched it.
LOVE THE SHIRT. 💛
In my client's defense. your honor, it's literally in the title "Saving Private Ryan"
On all these lists they all have Saving Private Ryan but I remember watching it on the big screen and knew immediately that he was an aged Matt Damon...it never even occurred to me to think it was Tom Hanks. But i still cried my eyes out when Miller dies because the entire platoon sacrificed their lives for Ryan except for the damn journalist that drove me nuts!!!
I don't think you've seen Twelve Monkeys.
"Keyser Sosaar" and with that WhatCulture continues to butcher pronunciations of certain names
Fight Club - the soup.
The narrator talks about Tyler pissing in the soup. Tyler replies, "Do not look at me! I cannot go if you look at me."
On first watch, you assume that Tyler is bladder shy. However, since Tyler and the narrator are one and the same, if he looks, he will realize that it is really himself peeing in the soup.
Secretly? That Nightmare Alley ending was telegraphed so badly that I lost interest in the movie from the beginning.
Always happy to see Amy
Iron Man - the ransom video spells out the plot to kidnap Tony Stark - if you can understand the language!
KEYSER SOZE !!!!!!!! Say it again for the love of God ! Or at least watch the film
That was killing me.
Love your shirt!
So… nightmare alley is an old movie (which wasn’t that great back in the day), so I was spoiled on the ending
Is this a reupload or did another host do this list before because i remember seeing this list a while ago
@@erakfishfishfish oh ok thanks for the info
Or... you could have seen the 1947 Original Nightmare Alley Starring Joan Blondell and Tyrone Power. Or... you could have really seen it coming if you had read the Novel from which both movies of the same name was adapted... but that's none of My Business
I guess this one technically doesn't fit because the beginning shows what happens *after* the ending, but Quadrophenia.
Frozen 2 the song the mother sings to the kids explains most of the movie
I'll I heard in this video is WhatCultre calling me "deadbeat Shaun.." .. How the f*ck did you know?
Devil reveals who the devil is in the very first few moments.
The devil says "I'll take the next one" and you know that is the one with the power. Cuz the next elevator immediately opens.
Sixth Sense. One not so secretly, Romeo and juliet.
“The Prestige” came out in 2006, not 2004.
Bring up all that about the bible in Shawshank and _don't_ mention that it was at _Exodus?_
Shame!!
It’s SO-ZAY, not SO-ZUH
I like the shirt message.
You guys...didn't watch 12 Monkeys the same way as everyone else, huh?
12 Monkeys is a remake - give respect to the original !
John Dies At The End. Well, it's not really secretly revealed. 😄
The Bible was bookmarked on Exodus also
Had to skip the usual suspects part cause honestly it was painful
Good lord! You’ve watched twelve monkeys wrong.
Saving Private Ryan there eyes are different colors.
Vader was not Luke's father the concept was thought of in Empire majing it a gappy addident
Midsommar - the embroidery.
Ah yes the mid list sponsored segments, the best RUclips trend since…. Idek what’s worse lol
I'm getting SO SICK of hearing about the Sean of the Dead bar scene. How many lists are you going to put this on???
This is a British channel, and Sean Of The Dead is one of the only twelve good British movies ever made, so they're likely going to put it on every list.
*Shaun of the Dead
@@filmsociety1311 No, it's actually Shorn Of The Dead.
🤣
The prestige came out after Batman begins😑
Was Andy actually falsely accused? I always thought it was left ambiguous.
YES Andy was falsely accused..if you missed the beginning his wife and lover are murdered and he's in a drunken stuper but you know for sure when Tommy reveals the real killer and the warden has Tommy killed?? You must have needed popcorn 🍿 at the wrong intervals in the movies 😂
What about total recall.
Great idea, lazy execution. Even on the first entry how have you managed to leave out the most obvious clue: the young girl asking about the now dead brother of the bird at the very beginning?
I need that tshirt.
I want that shirt.
You mean foreshadowing?
"Twelve Monkeys is one of Terry Gilliams' most bizarre films"...
Uhm... no. :)
Do they even watch these movies before making these?
I like that shirt.
Wait... What's this about Vader? What I miss?
same....i was just about to google it, when i saw your comment......did you find out anything? she (Amy) says Dark Vader, doesn't she??
I always like this video's but someone proof read the names for pronunciation Gilliam isn't Jillian. There is alway a few in each video
Also in this was "Keyser Sosaar" (repeatedly)
Please try to get the pronunciations right. It’s really obvious the presenter is not familiar with Terry Gilliam and The Usual Suspects
"top 10 what culture lists that don't feature the usual suspects.
10. there are non
the end!"
Ummmm... that summary of 12 monkeys wasn’t anywhere near accurate
That is something 😀 😄 ❤️ 😊 😘 💖 😀 😄 ❤️ 😊 😘 💖 😀 😄 ❤️ 😊 😘 💖 😀 😄 ❤️ 😊 😘 💖 😀 😄 ❤️ 😊 😘 💖 😀 😄 ❤️ 😊 😘 💖
: p
I second that first.
You're a loser
First
Loser
the two magicians in the prestige were never friends. they were coworkers, and Angiers never liked or trusted him from the start.
Amy always does a thorough job, entertaining and not airheaded
honestly cant stand her
PLEASE get learn the proper pronunciation of names before you do these videos. How could you include The Usual Suspects and pronounce “Soze” wrong; they same his name a dozen times or more in the movie, DAMN!
Your shirt is rather distracting from the video. Probably NOT putting yourself in the video would be a good idea. At the 5 minute mark, I stopped watching, because your shirt is annoying.
4:25 Sean of the Dead: When Ed says "...shots at the bar."
Once they've stumbled back to the Winchester, the zombies break in. They then set fire to their ammo, sending flaming shots through the bar and even some undead patrons...!
