- Jamestown Rediscovery Site Supervisor Anna Shackelford and Staff Archaeologist Ryan Krank describe the ongoing work at the southeast corner of the 1607 James Fort dig site. This work, which is seeking to find evidence of the first and most important line of defense for the earliest settlers, required excavation of several historical layers. One interesting layer was a midden containing numerous mid 17th century artifacts. The video reviews the previous archaeology in this area and discusses the many interesting features and ceramic, faunal, and iron artifacts found in this dig site.
