    Watching Milan today was so stressful. Only Tomori & Pavlovic were defending. So much of slow passing. So much slow transitions, So much slow build up, so much of bad decision making. I feel this is a team has individual talent that somehow doesnt glue the team together. For example RLC was like a ghost! He made wrong passes bad touches and made terrible choices of finding channels to pass the ball. Then comes Calabria! My goodness, its so hard to believe that he is a Milan academy player! That right back role of Calabria in the first half was just horrendous!! This Milan’s defence is so less synced!

    No one seeing how bad Leao and Theo are defending? absolutely disastrous work. Leao after losing the ball doesn't even try to track back, Theo absolutely horrendous.
    It's not even a coach problem. In modern football you can't have that kind of winger that does 0 work in defense. it's impossible to be successful like this. if I was the coach, I would bench Leao for next games until he doesn't change his shitty attitude, and warn Theo that yeah, he is important, but not irreplaceable. Pavlovic came to the team yesterday and you could see he is already the best there.

    From my point of view both goals were Theos fault 100%. He missed the mark in the first and second goal. In the second goal he just stopped running in a lazy way and left the attacking player without making any effort to reach him. Check in both goals, Theos lackadaisical trajectory. He missed the player's mark twice like he didn't care, like it wasn't his responsibility to defend them.

    • @ciaoatutti307

      In the second one he could have try to catch up the player but in the first one before arriving to Theo watch calabria, calabria did kinda predicted the pass but done nothing for intervene and still getting outpaced by a serie B player even if he predicted the pass, so why calabria is on the field and what is his contribute to the team if even when he know what to do he still not able to do it? Calabria should be sended in Milan futuro with the teenagers

      @@ciaoatutti307you guys maintain such a laser focus on Calabria’s mistakes that you forget that football is a team game. If Calabria effs up, someone should step up to make amends. Hoping Theo should’ve caught up with the Parma attacker to prevent the second goal is a stretch in comparison with the first goal, when you consider that Theo was literally at pace (way closer) to Man to intercept the cross (for the first goal). Yes Calabria messed up, but Theo messed up way more for both goals.

      yes but they shouldn’t be pushing calabria up imo: Theo doesn’t know what planet he’s on when it comes to defending but he offers pace and technical offense. i wouldn’t have someone push on a flank if they have nothing to offer offensively. to me this is kind of the issue with calabria.

    Spot on. One thing u did not mention was the pressing of Milan/Leao and the midfield. Barca showed us how to press. We need 5 people up front pressing. Leao was not even helping he was just standing around and our midfield was not helping they had so many gaps. It all comes down to 5 of our player have to be pressing hard up front. If a single player is not pressing they will find the gap easy and it will be an easy attack for them every time like it has been. Leao must change or he will be a real problem for the team

Fonseca was brought in to improve on 2nd place & hopefully a strong effort in C.L. I thought the defense would be improved for this year to gel with the offense. Calabria is too slow & Theo seems want to place offense more so than defense.

    On point for your analysis. I'm giving Theo a break on defense for the goals as he was pushed up so far most of the game there was no way he was getting back on the counterattacks. Calabria just let players run past him. He got lucky one time when Pulisic sprinted back to cover a player Calabria lost and made the shot more difficult. Leão, what was he thinking on the switch? Your outside back is pushed up the field and you try a switch of play. The whole right side was left open because he missed the pass. Too risky a pass. In terms of Leão, I would rather see Theo play as an inverted fullback so Leão can play wide. Let Theo make attacking runs off of Leão.

    Completely agree with you on Pavlovic. Milan's defensive problem is not coming from defense. It comes from midfielders who are not working as a unit, especially during critical situations. Previously, Tonali, Kessie, Bennacear, Brahim, Alexis, and Hakan all understood that defense is more important and would rush to help without any delays. Now I see RLC, Musah, Reijnders etc, they start to run but then suddenly stop or slow down at critical moments which is very confusing for other defenders/ midfielders. Even with Fofana, Milan will suffer unless these players improve defensively in big matches. These players need to understand the art of defending as a unit. The defenders' mistakes are also a result of the poor backup they are receiving. They are committing to some high-risk, high-press, and high-line defending.

    People are panicking, we have PTSD we have been down bad for so long so it’s understandable but like you are saying Kush it is way to early to tell.
    Our squad is not even fully come together yet. We will look very good, sooner rather than mid season hopefully. The starting IX created a difficult game for subs. However, we still have not started our strongest XI.
    One big issue I am seeing is that we have no modric, Pirlo, Busquetes, Gerrard. Our midfield is the most important part of football. They set the tempo for the game plan and set the tempo for the team. If we cannot get our midfield together then we will be in trouble all season. Thankfully we have some good midfielders but Loftus Cheek like you are saying is not a #10. Im sorry but he has to be subbed. Our problem is our defense in the 2nd third, our transitionary defense is atrocious and that is because when we attack in the last third we rush our play. Our attack is always being pushed through the wing because Rafa is our main offensive player. Rafa is a one on one player and as such the build up is rarely ever there. When we attack quickly and make a mess of it, we give our midfield who is not that good already no time to actually reset. Then we don’t get back on defense and we leave our defenders with a mismatch. Positional play needs to improve, we need to stop ball watching, we need to improve our communication and we need to improve our aggression in the second third

  • @mattorlando415
    @mattorlando415 18 дней назад +1

    We have a few problem players that are getting in the way of Milan's growth. Two of em are RLC and Leao. RLC doesn't really start in my mind in any position and Leao is strangleholding us into certain formations. We really don't seem to have the team to play with two midfielders and 3 wide attackers. With the majority of players we have, we need to be more compact and have more options in formations, such as Xmas tree or 4312. Since leao can only play wing and Okafor is more of a 2nd striker, we can't really find spots for our best talents just so we can find spots for leao and RLC. I'd like to see a 4321 with Reijnders and Puli behind Morata. Then you have a much more solid group to help the defense. Bench leao and say, hey, convince us to play a 4312 with you as a 2nd striker cuz we aren't deopping the 3 man midfield and we aren't using a 433.

    Excellent vid accompanied by decent takes. Keep up the good work, and congrats on your new setup.
    It is impossible for a coach to implement his ideas with starting personnel who aren’t ready or willing on a technical, tactical and conditioning plan. Going back to my last comment about the spine of a team, every coach and sporting director will tell you that a solid no. 4, 6 and 9 are more than enough to win championships. I see a solid no. 4 in Pavlovic who will only get better, the no. 6 doesn’t exist at the moment, and the starting no. 9 who is fatigued. I would bet any vital part of my body that if Morata was available for at least 60 minutes of playtime, the outcome of this game would’ve been a lot different (see Torino game)
    One can certainly blame Calabria who isn’t physically or technically predisposed to be an above average RB, or Theo who was on a different planet altogether - but basic coaching principles dictate that the fish stinks from the head. In other words, WHERE WAS THE F***ING PRESS?!?!?! I mean, Fonseca’s entire tactical setup is predicated on stopping buildup and/or winning possession high up the pitch. So, if you wanna blame someone for the 1st goal, blame Leao for being 10 yards away from the player who made the initial progressive pass. Leao’s total lack of intelligence doesn’t cease to amaze on the second goal either. He made an unforced turnover in possession at the worst possible spot on the pitch resulting in a goal from transition on the far flank. So yes, you can blame anyone you like in the back four, but this is how the road was paved to conceding goals.
    Next is Lazio away and then the international break. Patience is needed but so are quick and effective solutions. The only solution I see is a 3-man D with 2 wingbacks, DM, box-to-box pivot and forwards up high. This team isn’t compact and stable enough otherwise.
    Forza Milan sempre

    My honest question to anyone here is - why don't we see the captain (even the co-captains), that see that the team isn't playing well, bring the players together and give them guidance or even just a pep talk? Isn't that the kind of leadership this team needs?
    I completely agree with you about RLC. He played like this at Chelsea as well... he hasn't improved or changed from this slow-moving, single-minded creator. I actually really like him, but he cannot be considered our "playmaker".

    In my opinion, if Fonseca sticks with the 4-2-3-1, then Pulisic should play as the 10 with Chukuweze on the right. However, in the back of my mind I’m thinking the 4-3-3 might be the best formation for the players that we have, because we may need three midfielders to help protect this backline but I’m not at Milanello.

    I agree with all of your points today, this start has been more of a disaster than I could have expected, but it's still only the second game & Fonseca needs time for the team to absorb his ideas and fit the new players to gel. To be honest, I think that at the end of the day, it's more a mentality problem, it's the attitude. Post match Fonseca said that the team did everything right in training yet failed to turn up on the day. I think this hits the nail on the head. The players think that they can just turn up and get the 3 points, instead as we saw last year, we get battered by the small teams. The players (especially Theo and Rafa who have the quality) need to be more humble, to roll up their sleeves and graft (which Morata said last week so he knows this is an issue). It's only when the players have the mindset that they need to dig in can we start to win games. I also think that formation wise, the 4-3-3 would be better just now, that extra body in the middle would help the defence, and if Reijnders is closer to Theo and Rafa, he can help them more, with Fofana and Musah or RLC completing the trio in the middle (though at the moment I think Musah would over more stability).

    Comparing Coaches when Serie A was a more difficult league is a cute narrative. People who never played the game were gargling over Fonseca's Masterclass video. We know Fonseca, he was at Roma and always lost when they needed to win the most, at Lille he was a draw king only winning 14 games out of 34 got 4th because Ligue 1 is weaker than what people think. After watching the masterclass I could see the goals we would give up. Saying its early does not mean anything, we are still seeing the same mistakes from last year.

    It’s only been two matches but something has been seriously off with this squad tactically. The entire back line was usually too far forward and defenders would have to scramble desperately to reach whoever got away from them and Maignan was left at times to fend for himself. Maignan and Tomori did well and Milan should have given up even more goals. I was glad Parma won . They were far better overall.

    Pavlovic was the only good thing about this game, I m worried about Theo, since Euros he doesn’t seem to have the same motivation like last season when he was doing sprints in 88 min, I hope is just a lack of form and not a lack of motivation because he wanted to go to Bayern… our defence is just horrible, Fonseca tactics doesn’t help either he is asking the fullbacks to stay high on the field and leave the CB completely exposed and of course there is the RB problem… personally I don’t think Emerson is gonna be the solution for that. Fofana seems like a good player, he covers the field much better than Loftus and Musah, we need our midfielders to drop and cover the spaces and Tijjani and Musah don’t do it

    1. I dont think people uderstand Italian fotball, Pavlovic is not made for Seria A, his agressive defending hig press left holes in defance all over the match this match could have endet 10-1 if parma had som luck in finishing.
    Simic was mutch better than Pavlovic and we sold him dirt cheap...
    2.Musah, I dont know how he plays in this team, i would not have him even in seria B team. i cant explain how bad that player is, no confidance no tactics no understanding of the game, allways left confused in the match, he even admitted that he was confused about the tactics after the match.WTF.
    Benacer is the best tactical player in that squad and he is left out, the same with adili second best tactical player in milan, milan want to sell them both. Its a disaster, i hope pioli comes back quick, if we want to finish top 4 this season.
    Fofana and Royal impressed, made milan take back controle of the game.
    Fonseca should have by now understand Seria A fotball, you try to play high press in Seria A you are done, this is not france laliga or Primier leage, small teams go to match to get 1 point and will punish you in counterattack, thats how ac milan won scudetto, same with napoli and inter.
    If milan wats to win, they need to play smart balanced game, not high press games.
    Milan then need italian players, who has hart in it for thise teams. in the entire 90 min only calabria was italian. no one eals 15 players played last game only 1 italian played, and he not even top 5 italian right back. Milan need to have at least 3 Italian players in their startup who know and understand the culture.
    buying medioker foreigners Fotball players is a recepi for disaster, you buy only top foreingers or top talented players who you know will elevate the fotball in your team present of future OK, but come on Musah, Pavlovic, Jovic.
    Milan need to clean up this squad i hope they end up in top 4 this season, and change choach, to an italian couch, and some italian players back to the team and all those medioker foreigners out, you have medioker italian players you can get, way chepper.

    I don't mind losing this early. I am disappointed yes, but rather have these mess ups in the beginning than sometimes during a crucial time later on . Comparing to some years during Pioli (last year included) in which Milan starts great only to suffer afterwards, I would rather have it in reverse. Suffer first, win later.

  • @peterasfaha2772
    @peterasfaha2772 18 дней назад

    No excuses or explanations needed. The tactical display is non-existent; it’s basically handball. Parma played intelligently, with all 11 players around the 30-meter mark, maintaining their positions and using quick counterattacks. When facing a team that plays Catenaccio, you need to be strategic-fake runs, quick one-touch passes with a pivot. Holding onto the ball too long kills the momentum and eliminates the surprise factor that can catch the opponents off guard. Milan players are just waiting for the ball and holding it until they feel pressure, then passing it back.
    Yes, mastering a football tactical display takes time, but you should still see some foundational elements when it’s being implemented. What frustrates me is that teams managed by De Zerbi and even Thiago Motta are clearly demonstrating their signature tactical approaches, while we are not.

    I actually don't understand the fans that are saying let's sell Bennacer, yesterday's game we literally can see that our midfield without him is nothing, Loftus-cheek was not himself yesterday at all, Reijnders too probably his worst performance with Milan, and Fofana is still new so let's not blame him or anything, i believe that Bennacer is a player who can provide goals specially if he play as CDM, and about the defensive line, seeing last season imma say that Pavlović and Gabbia/Tomori is best option for me with Theo which yesterday he wasn't really good and Emerson Royal because we have to give him time to adapt
    Also let's not put all the blame on Calabria every single game he isn't that bad like you all describe him, yes he is bad but he still sometimes play good

  • @josephtomaselli9181
    @josephtomaselli9181 18 дней назад

    To be fair to Calabria, it wasn’t just him being out of position and chasing backwards, it was the entire defense. The squad wasn’t in good position tactically and couldn’t defend as a team. Calabria wasn’t great, but a little better than prior week. He might be better suited as a DM if he’s such a liability at RB. I think Fonseca’s system right now isn’t working and is more to blame than the performance of individual defenders. Calabria got caught on that first goal but who backed him up and was there behind him to disrupt the cross?

    我想要重申第一轮我所发表的观点:防守体系仍然糟糕,今天还是采取的人盯人的防守策略,以至于中卫为了全场盯人而多次离开自己的位置暴露出巨大的空档,效果完全取决于球员的身体状态和一对一的成功率,这种简单粗暴的防守策略显然是粗糙不合格的,这不仅仅是球员安排上出了问题,好的防守一定是一个强大的整体,因此,防守必须尽快形成有效的体系,这方面Fonseca要做的工作还有很多。

    • @avivahao9168
      @avivahao9168 17 дней назад

      在赛季初我个人并不想针对某个球员是不是配得上米兰做出武断的结论,恰恰我认为每一位留下来的球员都是球队的一部分,在漫长的赛季中他们都很重要,因此我认为球队目前的问题更多是整体、体系上的问题,这的确需要一些耐心,但竞技压力会迫使教练组尽快拿出解决方案,时间也是紧迫的。
      总的来说,米兰目前的问题并非是个别球员的能力和状态不佳导致的,显然这是一支没有体系的球队,特别在防守方面毫无章法,我们可以看到球员们只跟着皮球奔跑,而根本没有注意到自己的位置以及队友的位置。
