Thank you Paul, the DeLonghi reset is completely different from your method and did not allow me to fix this problem. Thanks to your tutorial I have been able to fix this specific issue.
This video has been a such a help on two occasions. Most recently after descaling the De'Longhi, it refused to operate. It would start to run and then shut off. I went back to your video, followed the instructions, and everything reset and worked. To my teen daughter, who loves her morning espresso, I was a hero. Thank you. It is nice to be a hero to one's teen...even if briefly. 😁

Thankyou for the helpful advice it worked a treat. Before finding this is video I replaced the water pump as this was faulty on my machine but afterwards still only filled for 3 seconds. After carrying out the above it reset the flow meter, a white cylindrical component inside the bottom of the machine and nows works perfectly. Thanks again.

*** HERE IS HOW YOU RESET YOUR MACHINE PER DeLonghi **** While this does work it does not produce a good shot (or double) of espresso. A proper double shot takes between 20-30 seconds to pull & as you adjust the length of pour you are cheating yourself from the best flavor as under or over extraction negatively impacts flavor & adds a lot of strain to your machine. So here is the fix per DeLonghi & the owners manual. Turn the power on when the ma hine is ready for use press & hold the steam button for 10 seconds, the three buttons will flashh in sequesnce, release the steam button & turn the steam dial to steam, press the single button. The three lights will all flash confirming your reset, the single & double lights will flash to close the steam dial. You are now good to go to get a proper 3oz double shot! I recommend you download the owners manual from the website as there are other functions you can adjust to give you the best shot!
Just an FYI to make it a bit easier if you need to do this again. You should be able to reprogram the shot time/length whenever you want by simply holding the button (single or double shot) down and not releasing it until you have the amount you want. It will remember that setting from then on. I have the EC680M I use with a non-pressurized basket.
mine has suddenly gone bust and does the 3 second thing for the coffee shot and for the frother. is there a way to fix the frother so the pump doesnt stop after 2 squirts?

I was just searching for any video about steamer issue with my dedica and glad to have found this video as well! I've tried it and it worked! 🥰 Is there any chance you'd know why a dedica steamer does not steam continuously? I make sure the Steam button light is steady before I turn the steam dial on, it releases water residue for 2-3 seconds and it stops automatically and no longer steams even if I turn the dial on and off. 😔
Do you think it can be reason why my dedica with bottomless run water too quickly even though i think its pretty fine grinded and good amount of coffee? With normal portafilter its good but for bottomless its terrible even 17 grams run so quickly and channeling is everywhere
I can't pull a shot suddenly - coffee pools in the portafilter after a second or two. Also weird is that getting the portafilter out is hard, like there is a vacuum created. I'm beside myself wasted so much coffee just this morning.
@@ActiumFilms I bought a non-pressurized / bottomless portafilter and its fabulous. Perfect coffee every time. You do have to grind finer and play around with time a little for the new setup but I love it!
Also! US customers… Costco has this machine on their website should you have any issues with the machine, they will replace your espresso machine with ZERO I mean ZERO NOT A SINGLE question asked AT 100% the price you paid. I’ve had mine replaced twice in 4 years… Costco is where it’s at. They do not go through the manufacturer at all it’s their own warranty and customer service. You will not be disappointed at all. I promise you.
Hello sir, I guess it's not working in my case. I have Dedica 685 with the same problem. I did reset machine (reset with my machine is a with steam knob...), and programed time for middle button around 33sec. And it was ok with empty filter, I repeat few times, and it works. But when I put filled filter with coffee it won't, it runs that 3 sec and stops. :/ I think this is only with double basket filter. With the single cup button and single basket filter i think i didn't have problem, but I rarely use it.
@@nenadnikolic1071 same problem here. I have found a video where they claim in the comments that it might be caused by a broken flowmeter. I have ordered one, we'll see if that works

@@nenadnikolic1071 Hey, the replacement arrived today and it actually solved the problem completely!! But it is really tedious to disassemble the machine, they use different length for the skrews, so you need to keep track of what to put where and there is a lot of room for breaking something... If you still have warranty I would try this first. If not, I also found out, that it could be enough to pump water through the flowmeter with a syringe to unclog it. For that you only need to remove the bottom panel and one of the two tubes should be it, so it could be worth a shot before ordering a new piece. If you order a replacement flowmeter, get a few new rubber pipes as well, I replaced the one leading to the flowmeter.

You can do this anytime. No need for reset mode first. Just hold the button as long as you want it to deliver coffee and it will save that.
