We took Bill to an Urgent Care Facility and it's his Achilles Heel but the good news is it is NOT detached and they have him in a brace and gave him bands to do some stretching for a week before he gets back on trail. So it's a good thing we stopped before it got worse. We are in Greeneville TN letting his foot rest for a few days then we may get back on trail and see what happens. Pray for a quick recovery and no more pain.
My Cascade Mountain Trek poles came in the mail last week and I bought on a roll of the dice . Haven’t used them yet but you have given a real life evaluation. Get after it Bandit !
I very nearly pulled the trigger on Gossamer gear LT5 trekking poles yesterday (in-part because of the reputation and partly because they are based in Austin, my hometown). But I just couldn’t do it! I’m 64-3/4 years old headed to Big Bend/Davis Mountains - and just want something that works (without any frills). I just ordered two sets for my wife and I. Thank you so much and we trust that your Achilles has long-since mended, and you are onto the next adventure!
I have to agree. I bought mine about 3 years ago, on sale on Amazon and they really are fantastic. I think i paid $40 or about for them. I found out about them from a hiker i was following. Great review of them. 😊 good luck in the Smokies, im enjoying following along
My wife and I have been using these poles for about 5 years now and they are great. We hike about 2000 miles a year and get about a year and a half out of the poles. At that point the tips are worn off and the poles are about an inch shorter than they were. They still work though and I keep them around as spares.
I was about to say I didn't think that was so but after checking a second time I see they do offer that. I felt that 3000 miles was a good value and now with this it's even better. Thanks for letting me know.@@ChuckHowell-Outdoors
I just bought a pair on Amazon, I think I only paid like 60 bucks for them. But they look solid and I'm excited to use them. I was using a shooting stick as my walking stick which I really shouldn't have but I beefed it up a little bit with epoxy, but I knew I need to get some trucking poles, but I really wanted one with a shooting rest on the top even if I had a rig one up myself. Lo and behold there isn't adapter for one for these sticks I was so happy. I not only use it for my rifle every now and then but mostly for my binoculars to rest on them when I'm sitting down or standing up and I don't want there to be a bunch of movement. Can't wait to try these things out!
I own a pair of Cascade Mountain pole...have hiked a bunch with them and I love them. I especially like the rubber grips below the cork for going uphill.
In 2020, during the Covid period, I bought the Aluminium ones thru Amazon. I love them but I decided to upgrade to the 3K carbon fibre. Purchased it with confidence . Now after I watched your reviews, I just can't wait for it to arrive.. in Singapore
I also have the Cascade Mountain Tech poles. I got mine at Costco for $35.00. I concur with your endorsement. They have never given me a moment’s trouble.
Thanks to all. A lot of folks are watching Bandits progress. Take it easy, heal up. A way for a quick"shower" on trail. 1. Get some creek, lake water, bring to heat, warm. A small full cooking pot is about 2 quarts but not quite. 2. Pour warm water into a plastic jug, etc, maybe add a bit if water is too hot. 3. Then rise entire body with that 2 qts. You'll feel clean, and good.
Way to go Bandit. Now everybody is going to buy these poles, the very poles I currently use. Now they will be too expensive for us “normal” folks. 😏 Seriously though, you’re right, these are excellent trekking poles. I pray your foot continues to heal and you get back to chewing up trail. 👍🏼🙏🏼
Hey! Love ur videos! My dad is a BIG fan he watches your videos every night with our dog that he loves to go hiking with everyday! It would be so cool if you could give him a shoutout in one of your videos, his name is Matt :)
Great video. Never used trekking poles before and I am not an experienced hiker but now that I'm 60 years old I feel that I need to buy a pair. I travel a lot and therefore I need the foldable ones to fit in my carrying bag (need to be less than 50cm when dismantled). The ones on the video do not look like they're foldable. So, what is your opinion on the 'Cascade Mountain Tech Lightweight Aluminum with Extended Down Grip foldable Trekking Poles'? Do they have the same durability, quality and comfort as the ones in the video? Thank you.
I’ve never used those, so I can’t really comment on them. Some folks will use nothing but aluminum. You might want to check though. I’ve heard that TSA sometimes won’t let trekking poles be brought in the carry on
Thanks for sharing your opinion on the trekking poles. A lot of youtube vloggers help each other out by posting other vloggers channel names. I was going to suggest that you share Bluegrass's channel name, if he would like you to, to help him grow his channel too.

Oh no!!! Hopefully he heals quickly. We’re still moving forward. About half way through the Smokies now

From what I understand, you can order replacement bottom sections

They should serve you well! I retired the pair that I took on the AT…..and just bought a new pair just like them!

Yep. I don’t use the rubber part too much, but love the poles
Glad to hear it! Thanks for the review!
You bet!
Hey thanks Love mine to

Wow! You’re the first from Singapore!!!!!

I so wish they had put a zipper pocket in the case for the tips!
Yeah. They give you the rubber covers. I don’t ever use the case
I love my Cascade poles!! I just got mine and the best I've had!
👍
Tuesday, March 12th: Nice trekking poles. Works for you. Good recommendations. Happy Trails! Ross08

Just did a shout out for your dad. Should be at the end of day 30
Ok thank you sooo much!!!

Totally agree! I’ve mentioned it a few times I think. It’s bluegrassontrail
I have those also and think they are great!
👍
They look just like my WallyWorld carbon poles. Which are fabulous, by the way. Not spending $200 on poles lets me squander it on some other UL gear.
Absolutely
End of season costco puts on clearance for $14.
Thanks. Might get me a second pair
7 ounces apiece?! That’s not bad for $75!
Thanks
👍
