- I loved his delivery of this haunting rendition of "The Sound of Silence" (written by Paul Simon). Breath-taking!!!!

This show is amazing. 7 singers, with completely different styles, ages and personal stories sharing beautiful moments and connecting through music, being kind, supportive an nice to each other. In Spain all "reality TV" shows are about people hating each other or dissing when the other person is not around, even in the "talent shows" there's always a very rude judge saying terrible things about the contestants. Maybe I should move to the Netherlands :)
Maybe we all should. I find the same junk on television here in Canada/United States. It really doesn't get one interested in watching anything. And what's worse is that those shows where everyone hates each other are scripted or rigged, not even based on reality.
I was living there when they sprang Big Brother on the world. That dragged on worse than the Black Death.

I had the same look of awe that Floor had. Apparently in the final episode he and Floor we be singing The Phantom of The Opera together, that's really going to be something to look forward to.

*Henk's distortion* : before he and the other singers flew down (in Spring) to resort Atzaró on Ibiza Island for tv show BesteZangers, Henk Poort learned the distortion vocal technique in Amsterdam within 2 hours with his vocal coaches Alberto ter Doest and Daan Smits. They are certified UVS voice coaches at the Universal Voice Institute in Amsterdam. UVS (Universal Voice system) is a simple and clear system to get the most out of your voice. Quote by Poort: *”If I'd use distortion on stage in an opera setting I'd be fired immediately...”*
I think the world needs a duet. Floor Jansen and Henk Poort. Imagine that, perhaps a version of The Poet and the Pendulum...
This man is a powerhouse, as Floor. Just sitting there, almost motionless is capable of singing like this. Pure talent and training.
Thiis man is one of my favorite in this show. Good reaction Kelly and thanks for doing it.

Kelly he is an opera singer. When he sang the parts with distortion that was so out of his comfort zone. Distortion is a big no no for opera singers. And he did that for Floor. What an amazing singer....Thank you .......... :-)
This is the best live cover that I've heard so far. However, nothing beats the original by Simon & Garfunkel recorded in 1965 when I was 6 years old.
P.S. Spoiler alert - Floor & Henk will be singing "Phantom of the Opera" together in this TV show soon.

First time I’ve heard this and I’m blown away. I loved what Disturbed did with this song, and this rendition came pretty close to that. The original is one of my favourite all time songs, and Disturbed really stunned me with their version. This guy has a heck of a voice too though.
in BESTE ZANGERS 2018 was operasinger MARIA FISELIER. she is dutch working in berlin. she did LOSE YOURSEF and the duetepisode a duet with ALAIN CLARK , PERFECT SYMPHANY. of course she did more but htese two for sure are worth watching.
eh, Henk can sing! One of the best covers I have ever heard. When it came out, I listened it 3 times in row and liter later 2 times more. Just so amazing...
There is just something about this song when it sung this way puts a tear in my eye and a lump in my throat.

...at least 3 more songs worth looking for that you would probably like, I.e. Floor's cover of Samatha's song "Mama", Samatha's cover of "Our Decades in the Sun" in Dutch, and Floor's own song "Strong" covered by Emma 🙂👍
...and the whole episodes are available in parts on YT too with English subs (hint hint 😉).

This is one of the best songs ever written, its timeless in both its original Simon and Garfunkel version, and in the darker version by Disturbed.
And then you get Henk.... such an amazing singer, his control and range.. just wow.

I'm not a fan of Disturbed but that's one of the best cover songs I've ever heard 🤘🤘🤘
Hi Rory. The lyrics are timeless. Paul Simon wrote this and it was recorded in 1964. I am not familiar with "Disturbed", but I heard they do a cover. I agree with you Rory, this rendition by Henk is by far one of the best I've heard.

I just love it when you watch these videos. It really shows that you are connecting to the message of the song, whoever sings it.
It's nice to see that there at least are one person out there that feels just like I do when they hear these songs.
There surely are many people that feel like I do, but it's nice to see a reaction that contains real feelings. And your feelings are as real as they get in my opinion, and they are damn close to my own.

i've listend back to davids version and am convinced the biggest diffrance is this is a band plaqying davids version is an orkestra.
