Thank you very much brother for your video info I was paying like 120$ for an oil change at the dealer, now I could do it myself and save a lot of money thank you.
Much appreciated. I picked up a very nice used Lexus this January and its time for service. I called my local dealership and was told it would run me $163.00. So I could save about $100 by doing it myself. But to do so I'll need to spend at least 1/2 hour of my free time (probably more) and $60.75 for the oil and filter and tool then dispose of the used oil. I think I'll just take it to dealership plus it will go on to the car's service history.
Yeah it’s kind of a wash. Just watch out for some of the dealerships they will try to up sell you on a lot of other repairs that are probably not needed.
On my 2016 GS450h, I'm planning to do oil changes at the halfway mark between the official service intervals of 15.000km. I'll do those myself and the ordinary intervals at the dealership until the warranty runs out in 2026.
You can do that you’ll just have to jack it up again because you want the car to be level when filling it with oil so you get an accurate reading. If there’s an oil leak you will be able to tell right away even with the cover on and it running due to the oil pressure.
I was wondering about Pennzoil Platinum. Many people swear by Pennzoil but I have seen great reviews on the Valvoline and noticed that Valvoline is Dexos 1 Gen 3 while Pennzoil Platinum is only Gen 2. According to the chart on Dexos specifications, Gen 3 has much better protection qualities. Just passing on what I see and wondering if it really does work better.
Pennzoil platinum according to this chart is now gen 3 www.gmdexos.com/brands/dexos1_3/index.html I have used valvoline for years and still do but also made the switch to Pennzoil platinum because of all the latest tests and how tests have shown it competes with amsoil for a fraction of the price.
@@BLUECOLLARGARAGE interesting. I haven’t checked at the store but the pics online from Walmart and Amazon must be outdated then. I got the Ultra Platinum which doesn’t have a label. Gonna do some more comparison between Pennzoil Platinum and Valvoline but it seems those are the best for the price!
@@GokuInstinct1 agreed I think you can’t go wrong with either one. Unfortunately I can’t find the ultra platinum at my local Walmart only the platinum.
@@BLUECOLLARGARAGE yea I got lucky online at Walmart with a $32 ultra platinum but now they’re going for $40 on Amazon for 5 quarts. It’s too rare and too expensive.
I know Lexus isn't by themselves but that is the most ridiculous oil filter I have ever seen. What's wrong with the old school "normal" canister filter

Hello! I'm new to this so please excuse me for my silly question. What if we change the oil filter first? Thank you!
@@ltkgaming8547 that’s totally fine it doesn’t make a difference weather you drain the oil first or replace the oil filter.
Shouldn't you check for leaks before you put access cover back on?

Nice video. With the car jacked up and the drain plug toward the front of the pan, does all the oil come out?
Yes it will still come out especially if you change it with the oil still hot it will flow out better

About to go change the oil in my GS. Glad I found this video...and those hairy tatted arms!!
Does anyone know how to customize miles between maintenance? I want it to alert every 7500 miles.
I ended up kinda stripping the bottom hole of the oil filter housing 🤦🏽♂️ the last mechanic tightened it way too much
Is it leaking now?
@@BLUECOLLARGARAGE no it kinda stripped but I was able to take it off then put it back on.
😃good stuff
Don't use old oil for new orings!
Never had an issue

Bruh, your oil is filthy! Cut that change interval in half!
Yeah it wasn’t my car just a customers
