- I've been really enjoying the ASUS ROG Ally. They sent me it a little while back to play with, and it's a super neat piece of tech. It's essentially a handheld Windows 11 laptop with built-in thumbsticks and controller buttons.

This is the most underpromoting sponsorship I’ve seen. That’s why I love it because you’re being true!
Shout out to them for letting me make whatever I wanted!
Something tells me I will end up with a wired console rather portable because of the battery backup
Yeah we need nuclear powered consoles lol
They keep advertising this and the steam deck as good for AAA games, but honestly these are perfect for playing all the great 2d indie games on steam from your bed.
AAA games work surprisingly well on my Steam Deck, just the battery life is a huge issue.
@@corrosionchannel I wonder what the difference in battery life is between AAA and less demanding titles
@@matmoomeThere’s a huge difference. An average 2D indie game for me is around six-seven hours of estimated playtime, while AAA games are an hour to an hour and a half
You're so right. This one in particular since you can just... do ANYTHING on it. The world is your oyster.
Why bother getting out of bed anymore?
I know waste of my game time

This and the Steam Deck are amazing. I’m honestly thinking of getting one of these after testing out the on a friend has, just for Fortnite.
Ended up returning my handheld and building a desktop.
I always wonder how so many people can buy portable gaming devices at this price, while I can't even buy a handheld for fifty dollars. Where do they get this money from? Why can't I own such a device? Oh my poor life 😅
It depends on your salary. I live in Alabama and make $45,000 a year. I just live below my means and save a lot. It allows me to buy things that I want and not feel too bad about it.
Dude what do you film with your videos always look so crisp 👍
It's not Asus, it's a-SUS
I’m sure they’d make battery packs for it, right?
Less than 2 hours and it’s 700? Cue hangover numbers in air as I try and figure out what the point of this is. Someone please make it make sense!
so cool want it so much
Wait Dan is this part of the Asus calendar or not
Nope! They just sent me it a while back and I said I'd do a vid because I'm interested in the tech!
Asus is like Hyundai.
Even if you say it correctly, you’re still not *quite* sure if it was correct.
But is it better than a steam deck
The ROG Ally is a prime example of the idea that having more power does not equal a better machine. The Steam Deck is better is every way except specs. The UI/Software experience on the Ally is miserably bad.
I've been using the Ally for a while now and the UI/Software is very good.
I have one. The UI is alright, and there is a lot of junk you have to work through sometimes, but when it works, it works flawlessly. At the end of the day, it is a PC, so it will come with the quirks of one. If you are up for troubleshooting, it's the normal PC experience. The Steam Deck itself has a lot of them, too, if you try to go beyond its own software/compatible games.
Neat! Does it play Battlefield 2042?
Savage
Lol
How much would this cost...
$700
He literally said in the video
For only 150 extra dollars you can get the Lenovo legion go, which is just a better version of this
