Yep
I thought crocodile was the greatest villain?
There's always a bit of a missed opportunity when you do these sponsor bits: the "me" in the "Back to you... me" should be the you that's doing the actual video. Passing the reins back to the main feature. In this one it's very prominent because the Me still isn't wearing the Doflamingo glasses.

How is this comment 12h old when the video is only 50 min old😂
Cant wait to see unironic Foxy character analysis
Foxy as a villain is never ironic.
In terms of which villans crew best to be on, I think Foxy takes it. They have games and parties all the time and he actually values his crew.
Can we clear up whats cannon about him and whats not? Or would that ruin the character?
Mans was trying to build a fleet for the grandline he definitely wanted to be pirate king.
@@ultimasurgeeverything about him is canon? Its straight from the manga i dont think they had any anime only foxy moments.
Fun Fact: Doflamingo's design was based on an outfit by French Musician Michel Polnareff. Yes, Polnareff also shares inpriation from him too.
Doflamingo’s stand is silver chariot
@@tommasopodini333 No, it's Naked Silver(song about Polnareff from the anthology songs)
Doflamingo is probably about only half as evil as Polnareff, because he is French.

I mean to be fair, getting the name Heavenly Demon automatically puts him at the top. What an absolutely amazing epithet.
Usually in the final moments of a fight the Villain realizes that he is going to lose, but Doflamingo never thought that he would lose against Luffy until the Giant Fist hit him and I kind of respect that.
Yeah kaido just took the punch from luffy instead of dodging it cause he knew his time is over, I hate that shit.
yeah, you never think you're gonna lose until you are hit by a Giant Fist and lose
@@roronoauchiha69 Kaido didn't "take that punch because his time was over".
That was never a thing. Just because a character doesn't dodge (like we would in that situation) instead of facing the attack, it doesn't mean they've given up. He wanted to defeat Luffy's full strength, so he used his own strongest attack against it.
Giving up, or not trying his best, wouldn't prove shit about his opponent being Joyboy. He would only acknowledge the person who defeated his full power, so why the hell would he give up on purpose. That makes no sense.
@@jackjacques7495 lol if kaido dodged he wouldn't have lost that fight luffy can't win against kaido.
Dodged an onigashima-sized punch how? Don't forget that it was a power struggle and the punch had thought the "flaming dragon attack" before reaching Kaido. Whatever Luffy said to him must have also stunned him as he realized that no matter what he does Luffy's Will shall forever surpass his.
Doflamingo is just like us fans, chilling inside Impel Down always saying “the story gets interesting” every time he gets the new chapter.
except for him, the about 2 months of the strawhats in Wano only took 2 months instead of 4 years
his marineford speech is still some of the best lines of dialogue i've read in a long time.
It's very closely mirroring a quote that's attributed to I believe Julius Caesar. Good ass quote though
that darker twist of "history is written by the winners" really hits hard.......
Doflamingo sees Gear 4 and is like "You had that transformation the entire time?!?!?!?"
the funny part is that, in the OP timeline, Gear 5 happend a month after the end of Dressrosa arc (but 8 years IRL)
@@chrisbelos2834it's always fascinating when you realiZe how much time has passed in-world vs how much time it takes for an arc to pass with weekly chapters to release, including breaks and sometimes hiatus in our world..
I mean, there have been an insane number of huge events, incredible character growth, strength/ability gains, etc in sometimes a single arc or part of an arc.. hell, it's only been a couple years from luffy setting out to sea!! And look at the accomplishments so far already.
Luffy learned and basically mastered the advanced armament technique in like a day or two!
Just interesting to think about their in-universe time since we obviously experience each chapter at a minimum of one week apart.
The funny thing is that since he already learned it during the time skip he had Gear 4 locked and loaded during all of Fishman Island and Punk Hazard but simply didn't need it
I'm sure even in the level 6 of impel down, doflamingo has a video den den mushi ready for him to see Vegapunk message.
Bro's got all the hospitality he wants 😂
Just the perks of being a world noble with some kind of secret he can use to blackmail the world government. His prison is essentially just living a middle class life in impel down
I love that when Doffy gives everyone bounties, he never gives Kanjuro one. The foreshadowing was so good
Spot on. I like that doflamingo treats his executives like family. He's such a seedy, evil character but he always supports and accepts his group even though they are very ecclectic. It's like a warped Luffy. Only villain group that I felt that they were family like.
It shows that Doffy has capacity for kindness, he just chooses to be cruel and evil.
The greatest feat of doflamingo is gaslighting us to sympathise with him. He killed his father and brother, and manipulates his crew to do his bidding. They aren't family to him, but Expendables
@@EarthKingPrime idk he gets pretty worked up about his executives. They are the only ones he trusts. He was pure evil with no love of family but I think trebol kind of groomed him into being attached to them since they supported his twisted desires
The father who ruined his families lives and got his mother killed
And a brother who betrayed him to the government.
Arlong arguable
Before I started one piece there are two still frames that I knew beforehand, one being Luffy shattering the mirror as he’s about to fight katakuri, the other is stopping doflamingos foot with his own
If you’re wondering what doffy looks like under the glasses, it’s pretty heavily implied that he lost his left eye as a kid. Its also worth noticing that the first few hits Luffy got in on him were on his blind side
He has the same eyes as Pekoms. Oda's barber confirmed it😊
Nope, Doffy has an infinite amount of shades
There is a very subtle sinister undertone to the Donquixote family. Sure Doflamingo does show some kind of kinship to his closest officers, but every single one is an unwanted outcast and easy to manipulate. His family is made up of people who he can get to do anything, Baby 5, Diamante and his ego, Buffalo needing direction, Law with unguided hatred, Senor Pink being an outcast needing hospital funds, Pica being insecure, etc.
"There is a very subtle sinister undertone to the Donquixote family. "
The opposite is true, actually. The Don Quixote family is one bloodline that the gorosei have not been fully able to castrate and turn into celestial dragons.
Mature flamingo joins a hawk and croc in a clown's circus 🎪
Ever since I saw Doflamingo manipulate the Vice Admiral at Mariejois after Crocodile got defeated and punish Bellamy right after he got beaten by Luffy, I knew that he would become a real problem and an icon at that. Salute to one of the best villains in Anime History.
Out of all the villains in OP, Doffy is so evil but has so much charisma that can't not love him.
Where with lets say Saturn, is just as evil as Doffy but with zero charisma or likability that you want to see him suffer.
Indeed. You can also compare Egg Head with Dressrossa and tell countless similarities between them
Saturn was designed to be despised, Donflamingo was designed to intrigue and horrify.
In regards to the sunglasses, Kuro had regular glasses dramatically broken at his defeat. TBSkyen theorizes they represent viewpoints being shattered in both cases, which I like.
Doflamingo’s viewpoints were never shatter though
True. Kuro's glasses were lame tho. And they didn't hide his eyes.
Out of all the One Piece antagonists I believe that Buggy is one of best. His luck is god tier, he has one of the most loyal crews and his devil fruit awakening could be one of the strongest. So Liam please do Buggy next and show everyone this emperor of the sea’s greatness.
Buggy is just a meme more than half the time
Doflamingo is such a great and beloved character. Which is why it's so hard to do him justice. I really do hope he makes a come back in the future.
Doffy is just sitting back with his popcorn enjoying luffy taking the WG for a ride like he did Doffy
Cause he knows he's gonna be back at it soon enough, too. You really think Impel Down is gonna be exempt from being hit with the madness of what's to come again?
He's just chillaxing like a baller while watching Luffy destroy the World (Government/rule of the CD) and enjoying every second of it, while knowing he "told them so" on his way to Impel Down 😂
Loved this. The memorable thing was his laugh as well. That terrifying laugh. S tier is the only place for Doffy.
Doffy is my fav villain in the whole serie. But man, I've never felt more threat from a single man more than Kaido even more than Imu, he was and will most probably remain the biggest hurdle Luffy had to overcome.
My favorite part about Doflamingo is how just pure and unforgivably evil he is. Like having a character who’s OWN BROTHER just says that he was BORN evil and never had a shred of good in him, I love that stuff.
I want a real honest re-evaluation of Gecko Moria as a villain.
This style of video gives me old grandlinereview vibes, it’s so cool to see how the content has evolved from the one piece encyclopedia days to now 🔥
i remember first seeing doflamingo getting mad and flying to the strawhats and completely shitting my pants at how crazy he looked
But was he the Don of a fleet of 50 ships? Didn't think so.
Worst villian ever.
@@roronoauchiha69Krieg was a sorry villain that relied too heavily on weapons. Luffy beat the breaks off that man with his bare hands
Villians who are unapologetically evil are usually fun to watch.
I would disagree. Takes a very good writer to make comically evil characters work.
Someone being bad because he’s just a generally bad dude can get boring and tired if not done right.
@@justice4549DIO clears
@@justice4549 someone being bad because they’re just bad is the minority of major villains. The sob backstory angle is most fiction villains so unapologetic evil from time to time can be a breath of fresh air
@@justice4549 most villians either have said back stories or have understandable reasons for being how they are or they are talk no jutsued into being a nice person, villians like doffy are rare and I mean that as a major villian, fodder every new episode villians are always like that.
@@justice4549one of the best examples for this is Wilem Dafoe's Green Goblin. He was written very well in both the older and current Spiderman films
IDK who drew Lucci like that at 14:08 but damn that was hilarious to see lol

He didn't even mention Doflamingos philosophic talent... His speach at marineford and after he got captured explain the world so well and foreshadow the upcomming story. Its just epic
I will walk like doflamingo for one day each like this comment get
We expect proof

Doflamingo really did live up to the hype, I love how enigmatic he is and his voice (both sub and dub imo) really captures it. From the events of Dressrosa, losing everything to his time in Inpel Down he simply wants to watch the world burn and he's excited to see it whether he's involved or not.
I also find World Domination boring, there's so much more you can do than just taking over the world.
I have been a DBZ and Naruto fan since I can remember, but One Piece was never to my taste (or so I thought). But then I saw some reels of Doffy when Dressrosa arc was being aired. I immediately fell in love with Doffy. He was menacing and cool and awesome as a villian. I started OP because of Doffy and now I'm in love with it. Now, it is my favorite animé/manga.
So I'm pretty certain that the "treasure" of Mary Geoise is Imu, and Doflamingo's plan was to use Law's devil fruit to shambles himself into Imu's body, hence making him the ruler of the world. It is alluded to this fact that Doflamingo uses him knowledge of the "treasure" to blackmail the World Government into falsely declaring he had resigned as a Warlord.
Doffy works thematically as the opposite of freedom, from his powers to his dialogue to his goals. Perfect antagonist to Luffy
Liam looks like the most badass person in those glasses.
I actually want to see a retrospective review on a villain that generally isn't as beloved as Croc or Doffy. Someone like Hody Jones maybe. A deep dive that can shine some light on both what went wrong with him as an antagonist _and also_ what Oda did right with him and was perhaps overlooked. I think it could make an interesting video.
I would love to see Eneru/Enel next, hes such a major impact still to today, even tho his whole Arc is often called Filler. Arguably also one of the best villains in op
Definitely one of the best in terms of pure entertainment value
he did him
He is compelling but not because he "cares" its because hes the most terrifying gaslighter of all time that is so well written hes tricked most of the fanbase into thinking he has a heart lol he wasnt that sad about monet and virgo at all, he just frowned and got mad about his operation. Every single bit of evidence of him "caring" can all be broken down like that to show the true selfishness beneath. His selfish twisted love is not real love, i think thats the point.
Melon talks about how all of his "family" is ripe for manipulation. Dolfy says he thinks of them as family and cares for them, but the way he is willing to sacrifice them and use them however he wants can that really be true
I will do a sit up every like this comment gets
with you in this one will do 3 right away(oh god Im still at 20 and I come back to see 1.7k)
video or it never happened
I don't give a shit
Proof?
No you won't
His Japanese voice actor is half of why doflamingo is so popular so he deserved a mention for his awsome performance
Keep up the videos I love your goofy images of one piece characters and how calm you are about your funny jokes😂😅😊❤❤❤
I've just rewatched the dressosa arc and this arc is really underrated
My favorite part about Doflamingo is how he represents potential. The nobles we are typically introduced to are slothful and weak. He shows us how effective they probably were during the void century.
Keep up the awesome work and videos Liam love the video
Dude. Ur videos are the best from all one piece content creators. Keep it up man i watch every single video you upload almost instantly. ❤
Love your vids, keep the great work up!
I think hes the only villain who has a true backstory
Great video. Id love the next one to be about Buggy (maybe my fav OP character) or Foxy (just because he was so lame and im sure even felt like filler for non manga readers)
Another perfect analysis! 👏🏼
YEAH! I kinda like that Doffy was some of the last to have such a deep connecting. Luffy having to now stop those who have lost all concept of family seems about right. These, too, are beings for whom "the world" makes sense as a goal. ;)
I'd love to see more character breakdowns like this
amazing video!
should definetly tackle arlong next... and honestly, throw hody jones in there because we need to fill the lower tiers.
Im A new subscriber even your content from a year ago is very possible in the one piece timeline even now, I very much enjoy your content
Doffy is up there really good presence. We need a Foxy appreciation video though, he was a needed breath of fresh air after the sinister master mind villains we had for a long time in the story.
Great video as usual 👍
The second Impel Down outbreak (and there *will* be a second Impel Down and it *will* be lead by Doflamingo) will be absolutely amazing ! I can't wait to see it !
Here's what I think. We're going get a continuation of Dolflomingo reading the paper in Impel Down saying "Straw Hat Luffy is creating so much havoc". Then we'll get a cut to a shadowy figure in a cell across from him that will say "it's good to hear my friend is doing well". Then title card reveal " The most infamous prisoner that let many other criminals escape impel down "Bon Clay". "A great threat to the prison and now moved to level 6". Thus finally satisfying us long time Bon Clay-Mr 2 fans. The third best/ truly loyal Luffy friend after Zoro and Nami (Jimbies 4th).
Love that video series! :)
Good vid broski
You could make a super cut of all of these videos. Compile all of these literal villan of the week videos; edit them so they can play back to back for an end result of a 2-3 hour long video.
I play those types of videos in the background all the time
Gotta do Arlong next. His arc is the one I'm always telling people to watch till to see if they really like One Piece or not.
If not him, then Rob Lucci. He's just so cool.
i thought the "national treasure" was a mistranslation and he was actually referring to imu
Absolutely agree with this ranking. Would love to see a Foxy review next
Although I like Crocodile more as a character, Doflamingo is definitely the most compelling villain so far. I do hope that Oda is going to outdo himself with Blackbeard tho. There's still so much mystery surrounding him and like Doflamingo he was set up very early on.
Ur pronounciacion of the german tank in the ad was actual pretty suprisingly good
I never get tired of your "now back to you, me"
i like to think the small island that doflamingo was chilling on in the anime was just a random island he decided to relax on, probably to get some alone time with himself, it kinda fits and explains why he wasnt on dressrosa
I couldn't stop laughing when you suddenly popped up with those glasses.
They look amazing!
Looking forward to the Arlong video
The library of ohara cleared up ehat doflamingo meant with the national treasure, he wanted to use law fruit to swap body with imu the national treasure, witht the information we have now it changes some of the japanese tranlations from that arc
love your videos
Doffy is actually my very top villain. He was introduced before I even started OP wayyyyyy back in the mid 00s and the buildup was incredible, and payoff amazing. I do wish he'd done more crazy sneaky 'smart guy' stuff when battling Luffy rather than just fight him on his own turf with brute force -- I AT LEAST wish we got to see him force Law or Zoro or someone to fight Luffy with the whole string control thing that seemed so built-up with him -- but ultimately everything about him from his backstory to personality to love of his crew to design to how he was handled in his arc and the fact he's 'matured' but not changed too much since, all cements him as the #1 One Piece villain for me -- Croc is still S-tier, but 2nd to Doffy IMO. Now let's hope he joins Cross Guild before the end-of-series so we get to see them work together.. .and Doffy's knowledge would skyrocket Buggy's reputation and influence even further lmao.
the whole milk lines at the end got me 🤣
Doflamingo is basically Crocodile, but if Crocodile had already succeeded for the most part, and also had the advantage of having several connections, both from the world's Underground, as well as the World Government itself, beyond that which is given to a standard Warlord of the Sea. He literally has the advantage in almost every situation he's in when dealing with Law and the Straw Hat Pirates, and puts them in a false sense of security by making them think he's vulnerable by faking relinquishing his Warlord title. Where it all falls apart, really, is the actions of his minions, or more specifically, the actions of his one minion Sugar. The crux of his entire empire is essentially reliant on her and her Devil Fruit, effectively wiping people out of existence, meaning he can get rid of any "undesirables" that could potentially harm his position as beneficiary of so many factions of the One Piece world. See, once Sugar and Trebol had Usopp at their mercy, Sugar could have easily just turned Usopp into a toy and all hope would be lost, but because she assumed the Tontatta Tribe was trying to kill her instead of merely knocking her out, and thus assumed the spicy grape they tried to feed her was poison, she force-fed the grape to Usopp expecting him to die from it, but instead got so shocked by Usopp's reaction to ingesting such a spicy food that she passed out, undoing her Devil Fruit powers. From there, everything unravels to the point where Doflamingo is forced to put up a "bird cage" and prevent anyone from leaving Dressrosa alive.
Despite a large number of freak one-in-a-million chance things happening to Doflamingo that made his empire fall apart despite how carefully crafted his empire was, one advantage Doflamingo is surprisingly quick to react and make adjustments and changes to his plans based on what's happening. It's kind of like Crocodile's crazy-preparedness, only Doflamingo didn't really plan or expect anything bad to happen to Sugar, and he was a bit peeved that he was forced to make a decision between giving up his Warlord status or not providing Kaido with more SMILE Fruits, but he still managed to bounce back from both scenarios with little trouble. That's probably the biggest strength of Doflamingo (aside from his overall strength, which at the time was incredible to see, to the point where I've seen people say he was the strongest Warlord, not sure if that stands true nowadays), he quickly yet carefully considers his options and doesn't give his enemies the chance to gain the advantage. This leads him being one of the few villains who, surprisingly, doesn't underestimate the Straw Hat Pirates and take them as a serious threat... until his final confrontation with Luffy, anyway. Yeah, I never really liked how he suddenly got cocky at the very end and just assumed Luffy doesn't have enough strength to finish him off. I tend to be rather mixed when it comes to villains who are defeated by their own hubris, there are good ways and bad ways to handle it, but the way Doflamingo's ego ended up being his undoing when up until that point he seemed smarter than that, it was just kind of a disappointment, moreso than even Kaido basically letting himself take Luffy's final massive punch because he thought he could tank it.
Despite that one blemish, though, Doflamingo is a fantastic villain in execution, which is helped both by his backstory and his complicated relationship with his closest minions. As a former World Noble, he came from a place of the highest privilege, and despite still living in comfort when his father relinquished their World Noble status, he just could not let go of his World Noble lifestyle, which resulted in everyone finding out they were World Nobles for whom the World Government will no longer protect and thus can act out their revenge against the World Nobels with. In most stories, you'd probably expect Doflamingo's harsh life after this point would result in him learning humility, but instead he was just angry and outraged that these lowly humans would dare strike back against him. As for his closest minions, Trebol, Pica, Diamante, and Vergo, he claims they're family, and indeed he seems to treat the minions within his close circle with care, to the point where some would even compare it to Luffy in terms of how much he cares, there's one big difference between Doflamingo and Luffy: when the going gets tough, Doflamingo always prioritizes himself over anyone else, whereas Luffy would gladly give his life to save his friends. This is best shown with Monet, he really would NOT want to lose her, but would rather ensure that Caesar Clown remain safe by his side and not risk losing the empire created. The rest of his minions are no different, despite what Trebol thinks. Really, when you think about it, the only reason he got close to Trebol, Pica, Diamante, and Vergo in the first place was because they treated him the way he felt he should be treated, as someone to worship and serve. It's this added depth to Doflamingo that gives him the edge over Crocodile as being the better villain.
Do Big mom next please! I think she is underrated as an antagonist. She is a a character with unique characterization, motivations and development and we have yet to see her in God Valley. The taste we got on Egghead was great.
Yes. One piece fans have been underestimating big mom recently too

It's fun going up to my friends doing his laugh to creep them out.
everytime it cut to you in the glasses i cackled
if you could, i would wait to do a video analysis on kaido. we don’t have confirmation on if he is alive or dead, hence we don’t know if he can have character development after his arc
Not many people talk about the fact that the Dress Rosa arc is that it only Eastlake about 1 day...a whole arc in one (in universe) day. More people need to talk about that
The Doflamingo walking animation was pretty on point
YO WHAT, when are we getting wifeflamino merchandise because she is looking FLAMINGO! In all seriousness she is looking amazing in that cosplay and it would look great at merch art, she’s great at cosplay
Weird its been since 2020 since ive started watching you
Even the often inconsistent anime completely knocked it out of the park with doflamingo, in a series with countless super distinct one of a kind multi faceted over the top great voice work by supremely talented voice actors, somehow against all that donquixote doflamingos voice and voice actors performance stands above them all far and away in my opinion. They first time I heard it i was instantly taken in and enthralled by the character wanting to know everything about him. In a show especially know for its odd laugh onomonopeias donquixote's laugh is really one of the most simple and realistic but it still rings of supreme confidence, unbridled mirth and the surety of a man thatalways has things go exactly to plan, certain that if small problem does occur ( unlikely In his opinion ) that he will be able to crush it under heel like everything else to ever get between what he wants and what he wants done. Eichero Oda created one of the most greatest antagonists in modern shonen history and doflamingos Japaneae rose to the occasion and then some. They voice actor should get an award for performance as the dofster.
What I love about the anime is that both the sub and dub voices provide completely different but still accurate perspectives on his character. In sub he's a sinister and menacing dictator, in dub he's a creepy and conniving businessman, and I love both takes and how it shows what an interesting, complex character that he is. I can't think of any other character in One Piece who has so many layers and is so interesting that you can literally watch 100s of videos on them and get a new perspective on their character every time.
Somethings been on my mind lately; what was that island that Bege ran into post marinefort, but pre-timeskip. There was also the creepy old lady Urouge* ran into. Oda doesn’t do things randomly.
Ditto Doflamingo killed me LOL
You should do Enel next. I don't see people talk about him as much as others
I would love to see a short spinoff just about doflamingo
doflamingo's design alone was a big part of why i initially started watching one piece
first real villain introduced to the show and then didn't see him for like what 4 years, that's how you build some mad hype
This video is GENIUS
Foxy next please! Also...
Are movie villains included here? I think Z will be a good candidate to analyze. My favorite movie OP villain of all time.
doffy is 100% S tier no questions asked
I think the next video should be on Enies Lobby, but I've always seen that arc as having two main villains that fill the gaps in each other's strengths: Lucci being the imposing threat while Spandam has the compelling connection to our protagonists.
You're welcome to the cookout bro
i NEED a detailed video about Foxy and all yis Illustrious contrabutions to the series
