Love it! Imagine how fun it was for Rob Halford to sing these songs he obviously loved and appreciated. Nice break from singing 'you've got another thing coming' every night. :)
Probably the easiest range of priest what about Free Wheel Burning, Riding on the Wind, OR Boold Stone where the tenor A Ab B4 C5 are hit over and over again . Halford is one of the top range singers Tony Martin is under rated as well
This is fantastic. I saw a couple of (more recent) videos of Halford filling in for Ozzy and it was... OK. His style of singing is more epic like Dio's, and better suited to Dio-era songs. Superb
This was either November 14 or 15, 1992 at the Pacific Ampitheater opening for Ozzy for his last two retirement shows. Dio wouldn't open for Ozzy so he quit and Halford stepped in. On the second night, Ozzy reunited with Black Sabbath after his solo set. I was there both nights.
I agree, he would have went out on top with his legacy in top form, NO More Tears being his last (great) album. The whole "retirement" thing was a ploy by Sharon, she knew damn well Ozzy wasn't retiring, it was a publicity stunt. Ozzy in early 92 got a bum diagnosis that he had MS but within a few weeks a 2nd opinion proved he was ok, but Sharon went forward w the retirement rubbish.
Wow..yeah I know Dio didn't want to do the gig opening for Ozzy..but ya gotta admit that distinct articulate phrasing Rob throws in with the enunciation (ie streets and so on)..I'm surprised there wasn't an in between studio album before he rejoined Priest
Dio is a different type of singer than Halford. For a last minute stand in, I think he did pretty well. I dont know if they got to do a rehearsal but its not too bad. Halfords voice started to get real shaky after Painkiller came out so theres always that.
He toured way too long and over exerted his vocal chordes when Painkiller came out. It never recovered properly and the highs never came back to what they were before
His voice remained great through his years with Halford. He sounds great on those records. It was even good in 2004 when I saw him. He still gets by but vocals like this are like being a professional athlete. It can’t go on forever.
The problem isn't the difference in vocal range, I think it's more the phrasing in the lyrics. Dio songs tend to be drawn out melodramatic while Priest songs tend to be faster and high pitched
I can’t believe a single person gave this a thumbs down. Halford does great here, and clearly saved the gig!!!
The fact that I exist in the same universe in which THIS happened makes me so very happy.
Dawn Debris i totally and utterly agree with you.
Me three!
Dawn Debris Me four!! Sorry Millennials!! 😅
Me fifth. As it should be
Love it! Imagine how fun it was for Rob Halford to sing these songs he obviously loved and appreciated. Nice break from singing 'you've got another thing coming' every night. :)
instead it would be "finished with my woman" every night
Probably the easiest range of priest what about Free Wheel Burning, Riding on the Wind, OR Boold Stone where the tenor A Ab B4 C5 are hit over and over again .

❤ wow

This is 1992 in Costa Mesa CA. I was there, wow!!! Sepultura opened up. I left speechless and crying after seeing these gods in concert.
If I had to sit through Pantera I would be crying too.
Sepultura opened.
They fucking rocked and set the tone. Everyone stepped up. Many people think this is the best Sabbath ever played that night.
That must have been such an amazing concert.
Sepultura in the golden age + Black Sabbath + Halford!?!? FUCK!
Halford has nailed this . Another awesome British vocalist
This is, in fact, beyond awesome! And Tony's solo is practically spot-on!
That song isn’t easy.... it’s got a unique timing... i have a video cover of this song on my channel... i got close, but not quite...
So wish this concert was recorded properly so it could be released now, Rob would have easily fit into Black Sabbath in the 90's.
No, Tony Martin did just fine with Sabbath in the 90's thank you.
+Thomas Coleman fuk. you. on. pills. or. crack. tony. fartin. suks. ozzy. dio. or. ian. gillian. deep. sabbath. born. again.
@@BazookaToe Not even close!
HOLY SHIIIIITTT!!!!! WOW!!!!! This is so metal you could not leave it in the rain, it would rust!!!!!
Too true, but, Black Sabbath never rusts.
Just as good as Rob is it just shows how incredible Dios voice really was

He's great, his voice adds a different flavour to the Sabbath sound
Rob sounds great on this.
Rob could have easily fit into Sabbath after he left Priest if he had decided to go that route. That would have been cool.
GTAfan421 FIGHT+ HALFORD WERE THE RIGHT THING TO DO. ESPECIALLY FIGHT.
Fucking fantastic.
He's got a great voice, raspy but with brilliant range.
Long live the metal god.
Such a jewel this one...
AGGGHHH!!!! THANK YOU!!! Halford is so crazy talented.
The Metal God on the same stage as The Godfather of metal is epic!!
LMFAO, Dio blows this guy away. He is only recognized because he is in the falsetto range
Tom Sheldon I like how you attempted to be a condescending little prick but came off as a total clueless douche bag instead. LMFAO!
@@afterburner2869 no attempt. I was successful. Halford is a Plant, if he isnt screaming, he isnt singing.
@@toms81162 If everyone could do a clear falsetto, everyone would. It's incredibly difficult. Dio was screaming this song too. It's a screaming song.
@@kevinbillingsley8256 my point was and is, Halford sucks. But thanks anyways
Just think if Ozzy had actually retired after that farewell tour he would have left a legendry body of work untianed with his comeback years.
I agree, he would have went out on top with his legacy in top form, NO More Tears being his last (great) album. Whaattt. Halford and Black Sabbath Whoa!!
I wonder what would have happened if Dio and Halford made an appearance on this same performance. I wish it really happened...
O legal e que Halford se conteve..e curtiu...Fico imaginado seu Agudo no final....Neon Nightttttttttttssssssssss
it would have been so awesome if halford had recorded an album with sabbath! i'm sure he would have done it, it was probably just a matter of timing.
halford kills it!
Wow..yeah I know Dio didn't want to do the gig opening for Ozzy..but ya gotta admit that distinct articulate phrasing Rob throws in with the enunciation (ie streets and so on)..I'm surprised there wasn't an in between studio album before he rejoined Priest
Halford rules. 🤗💫🤘🙌
The Description says it all... THIS IS FUCKIN' AWSOME!!!!!!!!
Halford ans Sabbath, these are words that go together well [just said like that doesn't sound quite as heavy as it should].
Nailed it
Rob Halford is a Class Act
Amazing, a dream come true¡!¡!¡
Awesome!
Cara isso é surreal Rob canta MUITO LOL Ele deixa melhor algo que era ótimo
Wow nice!!

so much win
halford is the only singer of this song that has the range other than dio.
scissors65
This is great, love Rob, but check out Queensryche. Jeff Tate kills this!
scissors65 Not really, plenty of singers can do this song, it's not that high

Can you upload the whole concerts w. Rob?
Very cool. The boys looked liked they were having a good time.
Nice.
HOLY FK! Wish the sound was better, I want to hear a studio cut! HALFORD AND SABBATH! 💀 ☠ 💀
🤘❤
great sound people don't realize how hard it is to record a live show on your phone then clean it up so thank you for capturing this for us
this was even with a crappy digital camera that released shortly before this event. its 1992 after al
Phones didn't have cameras then. Did cell phones even exist then?
LOL this was not recorded on a phone in 1992.
The first only person who could’ve filled RJD shoes.
🤘👀🤘
Fire the lighting ops. Geez Louise
Un orgasmo para los oidos
Halford is God!
Now this is some Brummie action!
Quem viu viu, quem não viu fica na vontade.
Damn damn and damn...Judas Sabbath :) :) :) Or was it Black Priest ??? Whatever...Rob Halford did an amazing job...As we all knew he would...
He's using a teleprompter
So what,, he probably only had hours to prepare. The only thing wrong with this is, I was not there😬
So many great British rock and metal bands comes from the Midlands. Sabbath, Priest, E.L.O. , The Move, UB40, Duran Duran, Quartz...
Also Zeppelin (Plant and Bonham at least), Slade, The Beat and more
The midlands of England seem to be the birthplace of Metal.
The sound quality is poor.
Dont say
The only way to improve on Dio is Halford.
Truer words have neva eva been spoken
rip:Ronnie James Dio!!
Fun Fact: Iommi is missing two finger tips on his right hand, which he lost after Sabbath's first album blew up; on the last day he had a day job.
Needs Bill Ward for a better solid punch
The thumbs downers came from the petty small spirits. Sock puppets are their nearest and dearest companions.
If Dio is a mighty dragon, Halford is a screaming bat.
Halford is not Dio, he has a different kind of voice. Rob is the Metal God, but Dio is the God of the Universe.
+Francisco Junior yeah exactly ;)
Dio is Zeus. All other voices are those of the lesser gods.
if Halford is a screaming bat, he better stay the fuck away from Ozzy. you know how much Ozzy loves his bats.
Anyone who disrespects Halford is no true metal fan 2
What if Dio fronted Jude Priest.... O.o
diascrive I think Dio could have done Living After Midnight very well
The problem isn't the difference in vocal range, I think it's more the phrasing in the lyrics. Dio songs tend to be drawn out melodramatic while Priest songs tend to be faster and high pitched
priest has more melody in the vocals (go from mid or low to high and back all the time is hard after a while).
Excellent analysis...
Rob in my opinion was a better singer than Dio. NOT being mean to Ronnie by no means. But he gave the Sabs a more Dio-ish sound lyrically & musically.
Kinda Lame back story... But it gave US THE CHANCE WITNESS. \m/ROB THE METAL GOD HALFORD.
\m/ SING. \m/ Dio. \m/
🤔VHS lol damn'''' , still good though'' 😉😁
lmao. bat. eater. ozzy
Good but Ray Gillian was better
The header says great sound and it's shit! Lol!
like your comment.
Tony Martin does this better,
Tuneless wailing. I love and adore Rob, but this combination (mysteriously) doesn't work.
for me it did.
It was fucking sick!! What are you talking about?!
Horrible sound, false advertising.
Amazing, a dream come true¡!¡!¡
