      I have been known to get a headache due to going long distance with loud pipes and music so I keep ear plugs. Also I have a compact chair, and mosquito spray. I think the best thing I purchased recently was a waterproof duffle bag that I strap to the passenger seat. I can get a weeks worth of clothes inside so I can save my tour pak space for valuables and stuff I need to get to quickly.

      Rain gear
      RainX
      Soft side cooler (gas station water is expensive)
      Advil
      Extra clothes, socks
      Batteries
      Phone chargers
      Headset chargers
      Soft cloths for cleaning
      Rode side assistance
      Extra gloves
      Protein bars
      Flashlights

  • @MrNew122

    Honorable mentions that you need to carry:
    1)Cleaning rags - nothing worse than spilling gas on your tank.
    2) shammy - for cleaning water off after rain
    3) COVID mask - yes, there are still some places out there that won't let you in their establishment without one.
    4) head mounted flashlight - breakdowns don't just happen during the day, and you need your hands free to use tools

    Excellent video and advice .
    My friends and I took a 4 day road trip last wk from SC to WV. And, when we got into VA the skies opened up on us. It was pouring buckets . We had rain gear on but it was raining so hard and our rain gear was black in color with reflective striping we could not see each other in our staggered formation on the highway. So we stopped at a rest area on the highway to let the rain slow down. We determined if we couldn't see each other, then cars or trucks could not see us either. So we stopped at the closest Lowe's and bought some high reflective construction vest and it worked perfectly. We could see each other for some distance. For $20 it was worth the investment. Instead of buying all new rain gear.

    I carry a 1.5 liter fuel bottle in my saddle bag. I don't do super long hauls yet since I'm still on my Honda Shadow (don't hate me...lol...I'm looking at a Triumph Thunderbird Commander 1700 right now) and I don't have a fuel gauge. I know I can comfortably do about 200 miles, but just in case I can't find gas...or a fellow rider runs out on the side of the road, I have enough spare gas to help get me or somebody else home. Great tips, and rain gear is no joke. I got absolutely soaked a couple weeks ago trying to skirt around a pop up shower...and didn't make it...lol.

  • @HumbleGaijin
    @HumbleGaijin 2 года назад +1

    I made that mistake with Frog Togg's. That was a huge mess.
    Best thing I've learned to carry is a roll of large trashbags. Easy water resistant and people leave trash everywhere across the USA.
    Multiple pairs of gloves is a good idea, as well. Having sunburnt hands is a pain, so having thin, thick, and waterproof gloves is a huge game changer.
    Extra straps or bungee's is a good idea as well. Tools and service manual shouldn't stay home.
    And a physical road map. Preferably laminated. Phones lose service or battery, but a map is always available.

    Aaaaand, we're back to being able to "afford". Even tho I haven't done any trips like you, I still get caught in the rain from time to time. I'll ride in anything but snow and ice. I always carry rain gear. Have helmets from, peanut-full face, depending on the time of year. Curious, does your full face protect your neck? Waterproofing all leather can't hurt. Have tools. Gum. Drinks. Bungees. Zip ties. I have limited storage tho.

    Keep oil, oil stabilizer, something to top off when needed. Older bikes burn oil as well as some built motors. Travel with a cooler to carry water, propel to stay hydrated, on long trips it is easy to get dehydrated. Keep some type of food to save money! Filling Station are expensive. Keep some type faceshield cleaner such as rainy or similar. Also zip ties, painters tape (ps: may stain seats or leather in rain. It happened to mines, but I got rain for several days. Get proper rest, start on time early 3 to 4 am and shut around 6 to 7 to eat and get a good sleep. Ride with someone on the same wave lengths. Arguing and disagreements or someone doing there own thing will make the trip MISERABLE!! THATPART, BE BLESSED AND MAY GOD HAVE FAVOR IN YOUR LIFE!!

    I am riding from Jacksonville Florida to Pittsburgh next month thanks to your inspiration. I usually ride solo but for a long trip I was thinking my back might hurt after multiple long days in the saddle. Should I get a rider’s backrest or just put a bag against the passenger backrest and lean against it?

    • @JustGKue
      @JustGKue  5 месяцев назад +1

      Both. The riders backrest may flex a bit...having the bag provides additional support 💪🏽
