PXG showed the difference in LAB revealer for both putters, different methods of achieving the same idea. Lab is balanced very center so the face will stay where ever you have it through the swing. PXG will return the face to square throughout the swing relative to swing path. And if you swing weird on the revealer of course the non centered weighted club will torque

I was skeptical at first as well, I went to golf galaxy as they had the left handed counter balance DF3 and I couldn’t believe about 10 minutes in to try the putter out my lag putts were so much closer it was a tap in for my second put! Also from like 6-8 ft I was making way more shots at that distance compared to my jailbird I normally play. I’ll be trying out my df3 on the course this weekend!
Thanks for your attempt on an objective comparison, as an engineer this intrigues me. I would that there is really nothing like a true 0 torque putter, it would be theoretically impossible to achieve, I assume you just try to get as close as possible. But isn't your weighting to compensate for the momentum dependant on the lie angle? Would you have seen the same behaviour of the PXG putter if you played around with holding it in different lie angles? I, personally is in the stage of dreaming of a lab putter, they feel amazing but is out budget for now.

I've owned and have been fitting for many expensive putters. I love my Bettinardi putter but it wasn't forgiving on miss hits so I got fitted and purchased the DF3. It's freaking amazing! I've never dropped so many putts in my life, the key is to let the putter do its job and don't manipulate it. I've beat all my buddies "different people " the last five times because of my putting. Two of them are going to purchase a LAB now lol.
There you go. LAB is still reigning and Sam the OG! After being remotely fitted one year ago I keep being in love my Mezz1. Only tiny problem would be the paint job with all these razor-like edges, I have specs of aluminum showing through the 'Adam Scott 2023' blue, but with these edges I am pretty sure it can't be helped. Must leave headcover on at all times while in the bag, I found that out after round #1. But to be fair, I have never owned a putter where the paint held on even if it had all rounded edges. An old TM Spider (DLL) I passed down to a fried is looking like a wounded zebra these days.

I see a lot of comments on LAB and the Allan from golfers who have tried neither, which s not very informative for anyone. I have had both, the MEZZ and i now have the Allan putter, so i have hands on experience for both. The MEZZ i struggled with especially distance control which is normally a strength of mine. It was good from 10 feet and in, but didnt notice any real improvement from my EVNROLL gamer. I kept it about a month and moved it on. I have now had the Allan for a few weeks and can honestly say i have never puttered as well, both distance control and holing out. Im a 6 handicapper but have always felt i should hole more 6-10 footers, and with the Allan i have. Just played today and Arccos had me as +6.4 strokes gained putting, 26 putts and holed everything inside 10 feet and a couple longer ones. I dont care who has the best zero torque putter or how they achieve it. All i know is this putter feels incredibly stable and it doesnt work against you natural path, its a funny feeling but it just works and has improved my putting. Im sure the LAB putters are equally as good, but for me i didnt get on with it.
Yeah distance control can be a thing with our stuff at first because of the ACTUAL absence of torque. Not saying that to be snarky but its a reality of physics and its effect on bio mechanics. Quite easy fixes if you'd ever like to try again. Hit me up anytime. Glad you are enjoying your new putter. Generally when we balance putters like the PXG (we do sometimes upon special request) people end up pulling putts after the honeymoon as you see with Backstryke or Axis 1. And FWIW, the only reason I have bothered to engage is their marketing claims which any way you cut it, are false. Its not a zero torque putter and if they'd simply offered it as what it is and talked about the benefits of toe up putters that open and then close, have at it. But they are being pretty deliberate about using our language and even using a very skewed device to justify using the language. Doesn't sit great with me...
@@samhahn6950 Hi Sam, you offered the opportunity to hit you up on how you could possibly fix the not quite getting the ball to the hole when i last tried a LAB putter. I'm open to having a conversation about that and possibly giving the new DF3 a chance? Many thanks

but the pxg forces you to counteract the rotational forces that the putter generates every swing you take. more power to you if the eye issue takes precedence over that.
@@rmmst49 I appreciate the info. I have used the same putter for 9 years so switching was a big move for me. I tested both and they each seem like great putters. I am more about feel and looks and the Allen just suited my eye better and had the feel I was looking for. I am putting great with the PXG. As for the "forces" i could not tell a difference.......science may favor the LAB but not sure there is enough difference for me to notice
Seems like this is good for the market. LAB seems to be market leader in lie angle balancing but maybe it will push them to adopt innovations from competitors (face inserts, shapes, etc). A playing partner had one at my last time at the course. Color me impressed. The lie balancing clearly works but it seemed like it takes a lot of effort to move longer putts (which scares me as an admittedly terrible lag putter).
I have an armlock Mezz. At first I left a ton of long putts short because I learned I was using my wrists to add a little extra power with my old putter. Minor adjustment to the length of my stroke took care of it. If you do go LAB, you gotta give it a solid five rounds. I thought I wasted my money for the first two rounds but then it kinda clicked for me to just swing it. Don't manipulate the face, don't overthink, just swing. And if you do that, it's amazing.
LAB made me a better putter, with actual strokes falling off my HC. LAB is here to stay, and we’ll never forget the OG that actually are torque balanced
Wow! Great finding, I was about to purchase one Allan putter in Europe. Thanks for the information. It would be great if for European Customers you could make purchasing a LAB putter an easy and reasonable experience. This way we would not be forced to choose either PXG or EVNROLL to buy a zero torque putter. Cheers.
Love my lab df3. The perfect putter. Feel is unreal on distance putts and it takes some anxiety out of the short putts You can still pull or push putts but that’s tension related for me.
I doubt I'll do another video. The 2 stainless steel ones perform very poorly. Even more torque than the Allan. The one with the hole in it does pretty well in the revealer but they are a little different putter to putter. And as soon as you start messing with grips and lie, the torque increases exponentially.
L.A.B putters are truly amazing. Once you swing one you will understand. It cannot be described, it has to be experienced. I have putted with a DF2.1 and now a DF3. Buy one, you will not be disappointed!
How much of this is just hard astroturfing? Ive tried a couple labs. They're just putters. No one I've met has sounded like these over the top comments in person. Like, not even remotely.
LAB FTW! If PXG was game, they'd send you a copy of their revealer! For the sake of zero torque! Any chance of getting a sneak preview of the new colors soon?
The PXG putter is supposed to open and close relative to the target line. They claim it stays square to the path, which just tells me its marketing a face balanced putter in a new way.
Yes, you’re right. Additionally the opening and closing seems to get worse as the swing is repeated over and over, which doesn’t take place on a real putt. After reading your comment I went back and looked more closely. The putter doesn’t seem to stay square to the swing path at all.
I'd like to suggesnt that you make some kind of machine, like the full swing robots, that takes human eccentricities out of the testing. Especially if your gonna test other peoples equipment. I don't mind you using your revieler it seems like a valid piece of test equipment right up until a human swings it. A robot or some kind of jig to eliminate human bias seems like it would be better then what you did in this video. I love your content. Someday I may own a L.A.B. putter because I love the science behind what your doing.
I actually prefer to have a little bit of resistance against the swivel on my putts. helps me feel the putt better. I probably wouldn't putt well with a LAB
I thought the same thing when I first started using it, but the adjustment period is pretty short and what’s left is the ability to just focus on a target rather than managing or reacting to the instrument
@Kpizzo It's literally the best putter I've ever owned by far. Better than my Benttinardi, better than my Scotty Cameron putter. @@Jacob-ed1bl lol I have two Labs and just replaced it with the Allen. I can definitely afford more than you… Look, feel, and performance is better. Go try one, you won’t regret it. But to each their own
I’m not necessarily a fan of the LAB putters (I like some toe weight to open and close) but I totally love Sam and the LAB company. There’s such a thicket of bullshit in the golf industry and it’s nice to see LAB cut through with their machete revealer of truth
Don’t know if you have one available, but I’d be curious to see my old Tommy Armour ZAAP (circa 1990’s) in the revealer!👍🏻 P.S. They’re available on eBay these days for about $25 …
The issue I have with this demonstration is that it shows something that doesn't matter, imo. Nobody putts by suspending the putter from the bottom of the grip. We have hands that grip the putter grip and eliminate the very small force of rotation in the club face. In thirty years of playing golf, I have never felt the putter rotate as i'm making a stroke. I think the engineering of these putters are pretty cool, but in testing them, I haven't found them to make much difference in actual on green putting.
We of course, get this all the time and totally understandable. Of course the putter is not freely spinning in our hands, but that doesn’t mean that we don’t react to the forces. We know that we react to the forces because for 40 years we’ve been fitting putters based on narrative around/type and Torque profile. If our hands did everything to mitigate the torque, we would never feel any difference between swinging a Newport versus a two ball, right? Torque is there and it definitely impacts our stroke. We’ve just simply eliminated the variable. Next time you try one, Take your thumb off the putter and let your body acclimate to just letting the putter do its thing and you might find some good results.
I love how you’re standing on business. Offering to send them one of your stuff is great. I wish I could afford one of your putters. Have tried them at golf galaxy and they’re awesome.
Squared to the path at all time, I get it. But is it a real issue in putting? When one holds the club, unless with certain manipulations, the face should ALREADY stay squared to the path. Please correct me if I am wrong on this, because it's simply physics.
Face closure rate and face angle at impact can be a huge deal on putts from 10-15 ft and longer for high level players. Making 1-2 more per round can be the difference between winning and losing. The thought behind zero torque is that there won't be weight offset from the shaft line and the arc it produces, thus your hands won't have to counteract the moment (torque) made by that weight (usually toe weight) when in motion. The amount of weight in putters is so small that this torque might only produce a face that is 0.1* off but for a pro that can be a variable they just don't want to see. As you say above if you hold it tight enough it shouldn't move, similar to something needing enough force applied to break sliding friction resistance. I'm sure if you wanted to see the real impact on the stroke you could add a bunch of steel (a whole lb) to the toe of a putter and swing it to get an amplified version of what toe hang is doing and why LAB is trying to eliminate it.
Hi Sam, just ordered my df3 putter today from here in the UK, got fitted by yourselves via a video, so looking forward to seeing it, let alone using it. Thanks so much for the effort and support from LAB.
I have the Mezz and it has completely changed my putting. Yes they are expensive but if you are any kind of decent golfer, you know the putter is the most used, so why not make the investment?
You guys should really consider going away from anodized aluminum. Went to PGA tour superstore and every model in stock was beat to death. Have you considered going stainless and going for a decorative PVD coating to achieve the colors you want? Would provide much better wear.
could you compare lab to axis1 putters? That would be very interesting, since they claim the labs are only lie angle balanced due to the longer revealer... which you seem to disprove with the shorter revealer...
Received my stock DF3 last week. Played Sunday and had 28 putts, which was the lowest number I've had in quite a while. Granted someone of those were tap-ins after close greenside bunker shots. My reasoning for looking at a LAB putter was due to a consistent pull in my putting stroke, which has definitely been reduced with the DF3. Have all the confidence in the world now standing over 4-6 foot putts. I've had two 3 putts since I purchased it, and one was probably from 70 feet away.

I initially said I’d never use something as ugly however one fitting later, I’ve just taken delivery of a counterbalanced DF3 from Scottsdale in UK and although sceptical at first, in my first two rounds I didn’t three putt and holed out consistently from 5ft and in… hopefully my goal of hitting scratch by my 50th birthday is back on (for reference it’s my 49th today and my index is 1.8).. seriously think the LAB is here to stay.. 💥💥💥
please if you can put Callaway's awkwardly named square to square putters on the revealer!
You can tell he’s confident in his company and product. Not bashing the competition.
I might be the only guy that likes the DF 2.1. I love the look!
My wife too. Go for it. It's different. Bunch of haters replying to the comments in here. Let them hate... while you're making putts and taking their money. ;) I am absolutely IN LOVE with my DF3. I typically averaged about 34 putts per round, and am now down to 30. Handicap currently at 4.1
I was skeptical at first as well, I went to golf galaxy as they had the left handed counter balance DF3 and I couldn’t believe about 10 minutes in to try the putter out my lag putts were so much closer it was a tap in for my second put!
Tough to answer your question via text, but if you’ve ever got a chance to come out to Oregon, would be happy to get nerdy with you! As for owning one yourself one day, we do have a 20% off custom sale coming up for black Friday!
@@samhahn6950 I have an order ready to hit but see a used one at PGA here in Dallas. Watched a few more video's and glad I did! Will the 20% be for online orders? Hard to wait for the build but 20% is legit! Will that be for online custom? Thank you.....can't wait to get it in my hands regardless. Friend of mine was part of your PGA guys your proto's were given to.....been watching LAB and congrats on your success.

@ awesome and will be anxiously waiting!!!
Thank you for this video! I have the DF3 and love it and was wondering about the PXG offering because it does look a little more traditional.
Tasteful explanation ! Thanks Sam
Cool vid! I tried the PXG putter the other day… super nice. Can’t wait to demo a LAB sometime soon, I’m totally “sold” on the LAB concept, but haven’t seen one in the wild yet
Two of them are going to purchase a LAB now lol.
well, done Sam and the team this just show how good L.A.B putters are 👍👍yes i did notice the white putters in the corner of the room
Are those new LAB prototypes in the back???! 😍
That red lab with the white shaft tho. 🤤
Great content and love a USA golf Company !
I switched from a spider GT to a DF3.
GT had a lovely roll but the DF3 was better, my putting has improved. My friends have noticed im sinkimg a lot more 4 to 20 footrrs ❤
I would also second the Spider putters if someone needs a cheaper alternative. I can see why Scottie went for one, even if I too chose the DF3
awesome, seriously since the lab putter. (about 3 months now) I'm still having trouble with distance control but my ball rolls on its line every single time. it's insane , it's all speed and distance control with the lab putter. best 700+$ I've ever spent .. Df3 forever
Trouble getting it to the hole from long range? Swing the putter longer, not harder!
If you are having pace or distance control after months, maybe this putter is not for you.
it took me a while to get use to it, if anything it took me a while to trust it lol.. it's weird but once you get use to it it's insane@@wilsonhung8654
Love the intro :) feels honest
Not sure if there are many people interested in buying a PXG putter, but I enjoyed the testing explanation.
I mean, I was until I saw this video.
Many thanks
@@gregcarnall9097 great! You might not find as much difficulty with D3 versus our other models, but if you do, it’s quite simple. The trick is to swing it longer, not harder! If you search RUclips for “LAB golf lag putting“ there’s a super easy drill to help you get dialed on using length of stroke to control speed versus acceleration
@@gregcarnall9097 hi Greg! It’s really just about letting gravity do the work rather than acceleration. Longer putt, longer stroke, and vice versa. If you search RUclips for LAB golf lag Putting drill you’ll see a short video that’s basically about one-handed Putting but it really does help get the speed dialed in
Hey Jonathan,
Unfortunately, we have had to move away from selling/servicing putters with the BGT stability shaft. We just cannot get this shaft to balance with our newer models. For this reason, we are unable to build you a new DF3 with this shaft.
We are working on a trade in program, and should have the details in a few weeks. If you'd like to reach out around then, we may be able to offer you trade in credit for your DF 2.1 which you can use to buy a new DF3.

Sounds like they are willing to work with you partially on a credit?
Have tried both and both are great putters. I went with the PXG as it just suits my eyes better.
but the pxg forces you to counteract the rotational forces that the putter generates every swing you take. more power to you if the eye issue takes precedence over that.
Good work! Keep it up! Let's Roll
Well done man !
Nicely done, Sam.
Great video. Can we get the same comparison against the new Evnroll zero1 mallet that just came out?
I doubt I'll do another video. The 2 stainless steel ones perform very poorly. Even more torque than the Allan. The one with the hole in it does pretty well in the revealer but they are a little different putter to putter. And as soon as you start messing with grips and lie, the torque increases exponentially.
@ okay thank you for the reply much appreciated. I will be ordering the DF3.
Not gonna lie... Could not take my eyes off of the oz.1 protos in the back LOL!!
L.A.B. = best damn putters PERIOD!
Wrong.
LAB FTW! If PXG was game, they'd send you a copy of their revealer! For the sake of zero torque!
Any chance of getting a sneak preview of the new colors soon?
Great Video Peep some promo putters in the back right corner.
The putter doesn’t seem to stay square to the swing path at all.
just the fact that PXG is trying to copy LAB, tells you everything you need to know. LAB is onto something!
Excellent video. I’ll be sticking with my DF2. Using it I average 29 putts per round. Wouldn’t be without it.
LAB putters are the best putters in the business, period!!!
100%!!! Workin on it…
Any plans to add a 33” option to the stock DF3 lineup?
Would love to know what Adam Scott (1st round) and Ben An were putting with in the Presidents Cup?!
@labgolf what putter is that against the wall???
LAB is built different. Good luck everyone else. I’ll be sticking with my Mezz Max!!
Yeah built from someone who clearly doesn’t golf 😂
@@KpizzoSo all the guys on tour using LAB putters don't golf? How long have you had brain damage? That must be horrible to live with.
@@Jacob-ed1bl did they build it? Must be difficult being you
@Kpizzo It's literally the best putter I've ever owned by far. Better than my Benttinardi, better than my Scotty Cameron putter. Those are great putter in their own right but can't come close to the performance from my DF3. Stop embarrassing yourself with embarrassing comments that literally don't even make sense lol. . If you can't afford one, just say so.
@@Jacob-ed1bl lol I have two Labs and just replaced it with the Allen. I can definitely afford more than you… Look, feel, and performance is better. Go try one, you won’t regret it. But to each their own
LAB just is the definition of quality and engineering all in one... just simple as that
Well done Sam. Great job. I love my custom LINK1. Thank you!!!
I’m not necessarily a fan of the LAB putters (I like some toe weight to open and close) but I totally love Sam and the LAB company. There’s such a thicket of bullshit in the golf industry and it’s nice to see LAB cut through with their machete revealer of truth
Any release dates for the new prototypes seen on WRX article from September
Have you put the honu putter in the revealer? I had heard it was also lie angle balanced putter.
I would like to 2nd that motion. Please do a similar video comparison using the Honu putter.
I was going to buy aPXG Allan putter, thanks!
Don’t know if you have one available, but I’d be curious to see my old Tommy Armour ZAAP (circa 1990’s) in the revealer!👍🏻
P.S. They’re available on eBay these days for about $25 …
Will you be able to do a video testing the Evnroll zero torque putters please.
We have. Same as this one
Great video!
Ahh man I was looking forward to these guess I’ll go with a Honu
Can we get the Evnroll zeros in the gizmo please.
I use to take lessons from Bill at golftec back in Reno. Pretty awesome to see directed force transform into this 👏🏼👏🏼
Squared to the path at all time, I get it.
I’m interested in the chair in the background. Looking at new work bench high chair. What brand is it? Would you recommend it?
Awesome to see these tests head to head
I don't think there was even 1 real test here though...
I have the Mezz and it has completely changed my putting. Yes they are expensive but if you are any kind of decent golfer, you know the putter is the most used, so why not make the investment?
Interesting on how they are measuring torque, could this be on how a person adds torque, where as you do it based on the putter in a free motion?!
What about the Honu putters?
You guys should really consider going away from anodized aluminum. Went to PGA tour superstore and every model in stock was beat to death. Have you considered going stainless and going for a decorative PVD coating to achieve the colors you want? Would provide much better wear.
stainless is too heavy to get the weight into the right perimeter spots on the mallet. lab does make a stainless blade, the link 1.
could you compare lab to axis1 putters? That would be very interesting, since they claim the labs are only lie angle balanced due to the longer revealer... which you seem to disprove with the shorter revealer...
If you search "axis 1 torque revolution" you'll see it but it performs exactly as the allan does.
@@samhahn6950 cool, thanks
I love my new DF3 broomstick
I also love my PXG hybrids.
Love my DF3!
I love mine as well.
Hey Sam, what’s that in the back corner at the end of the work bench? I see putters with lab grips, but those certainly don’t look like current lab putter heads 🤔🤔
