One of, if not the greatest World Series of all time. Had everything. Amazing hitting performance (Pujols Game 3), great pitching (Derek Holland Game 4), unbelievable come-back wins (Game 6 in particular). I can't honestly think of one Fall Classic that could rival this one and I don't think we'll ever have one like this again. Truly an all-time classic.
@Fral F yeah, except that the Diamondbacks full of mediocre players, steroid juiced out of their minds. Luis Gonzalez is a 15 home run a game guy. So It irks me that they win the world title and this guy hit I think over 50 during the season and clutch ones in the playoffs. Doubles also. You have way less line drives to the gaps when you're not all juiced
Although I'm a Blue Jays fan, I also love a lot of other teams in the MLB, I just love Baseball and this was what I call a game!!! Both teams really came to the clutch!!!!
Same here, I'm a Blue Jays fan too although I sometimes consider the Cardinals my favourite team over in the National League, the 2011 Cardinals just never quit, not even when they were miles away from a wildcard spot with only 4 weeks left in the regular season that year, they kept battling, punched their ticket in to October, and just kept it going from there. Upset the Phillies and Brewers along the way and then broke the hearts of the Texas Rangers before finally clinching the WS title in Game 7 at home. Their postseason run was unreal and one for the ages. :-)

Best World Series ever. Coming From A Cardinals Fan, Yes, We May Not Be Good This Season, But Our History is what matters. Amazing Comeback From The Cards!
I’m a cardinals fan and this season was not very good but I will support the Cardinals and I’m getting a Goldie cardinals jersey for my birthday this year

No it isn’t I live here in Dallas the Rangers have no ability to develop pitching thats how you win. They were in a position where they could get guys like Cliff Lee & Roy Oswalt over time but the window shut & their ownership is a joke letting Nolan Ryan leave that organization after getting to 2 straight World Series. The Rangers who I’m a fan of they don’t have an idea how to develop & maintain their pitchers & it’s gotta worse since Nolan left. Elvis Andrus with the A’s Cruz bounced around teams Hamilton fell off the deep end Napoli wins a ring but with Boston Beltre,Young, Oswalt, Lee all retired The opportunity was there & they couldn’t get it & probably will never appear in a World Series again with the ownership group they have.
Quite possibly the most entertaining World Series of all time. I remember it well. I was recovering from a ruptured spinal disc, and for ALL of game 6 and game 7, I was so engrossed in the game, I was able to forget about the pain. Anyone who has suffered from this, or a similar injury, knows that that's saying something :)
How 'bout Arthur Rhodes who, before 2011, never even got to pitch in a World Series in his 20-year career, but managed to get into Game 7, it was pretty awesome! :-) Blue Jays fan here, but that 2011 Cardinals team NEVER quit, they played the game they way it's supposed to be played! :-) Great Series, best Series in the last decade. As for the Rangers? Might take a while for them to get over this one....1 strike away in Game 6. Twice. The Cardinals never gave up. Awesome stuff. :-)
No it isn’t Game 6 1975, 2001 World Series Games 4, 5 & 7, all great as this was but the greatest game ever was 1991 Game 7 Morris went 10 innings won 1-0.
+VictorYong36 Same as 1986...even though the road team had a multi-run lead in both games. People forget, the Red Sox led 3-0 in the 6th inning the night after Buckner's error. Same story here...if Freese doesn't come through in the 1st inning of this game, might've been a whole different story. He was just cash money though.
2017 World Series game 7 had the same exact. The Astros scored 5 and never looked back.... a win is a win, drama or no drama. You just take it and run.... that's what the Astros did last year! #NeverSettle #HTownBaseball #WorldChamps
You could argue the 2001 World Series. The Yankees were up 3-2 going back to Arizona. Arizona forced game 7, then were trailing 2-1 in bottom of the 9th against the greatest closer of all time and came back and won 3-2. In my opinion, that was the greatest WS ever because it was the Diamondbacks that knocked off the mighty Yankees who just won 3 in a row, but no doubt, this is an extremely close 2nd
Former Red Sox fan here, converted to Cardinals June 2011, against advise from my friend, also Cards fan. Red Sox wee set to go the distance, Cards were set to lose, best bet was a draft lottery for them. And then they made the playoffs, that alone a massive feat. Then they pull off not one, not two, but three massive series upsets. My friend had to eat his words, it tasted great.
I still wish this Texas Rangers team would have won WS (mostly against the Giants previous year). I was a KC Royals fan rooting slightly for Cardinals here. This Texas Rangers team was pretty underrated in my opinion.
I remember watching this game. I was on an FFA National Convention trip and I was watching it at a hotel room with someone I was friends with at the time.
The Rangers were absolutely LOADED that year & IMO were the better team. The Cardinals were simply a team of destiny & was meant for them to be crowned champions. David Freese & Lance Berkman were clutch down the stretch & as a Astros fan I'm glad that Berkman was able to win a world series.
Cardinals win the greatest world series every played or 1 of the greatest anyway! And even though they lost 2 years later still 2 world series titles out of 3 in 8 season not to shabby!
