I actually lost count of how many times I’ve watched this game… a beautiful sight to behold. And the introduction, showing fans of all ages from both teams, narrated by Bryan Cranston of all people… the PERFECT way to set the tone for this legendary Game 7 of the 2016 World Series. And to hear the sound of the ball hit the mitt to end the drought, over a century of pain, mockery, and futility gone in an instant… the PERFECT ending… there’s no other feeling like it. And seeing those reaction videos of the Cubs’ WS win, especially of the old folks who’ve waited so long for that moment… it only makes it better. 11+/10 is my grade. 😊 Now if only the (In/Guar)dians, Mariners, Detroit Lions, Sacramento Kings, and even the Toronto Maple Leafs could end their long championship droughts and give their fanbases the same feeling the Cubs fans felt that fateful day… ☺️
As storybook as it gets. - 2 teams with storied championship droughts. - Game 7 with the possibility of a blown 3-1 lead. - Cities with recent champions in other sports (Cavaliers and Blackhawks). If any baseball game should get a documentary, it's this one.
@@BillyBall35When the cubs won the first of the 3 cubs (which admittedly was 6 years earlier) it came in ot. The second one however featured a 17 second comeback
Game 7 of the World Series going to extra innings between 2 teams on 68+ year championship droughts. The stakes couldn't have been any higher with everything both teams had on the line. We'll probably never get another championship matchup like this ever again in pro sports!
Probably top 5 moments in my life, after the births of my first 3 of 7 kids. The last 4 kids were great and all, but holy shit. This is my actual life. Love you Cubbies!! ⚾️❤️⚾️
I watched the first few innings live before my parents made me go to. I couldn’t sleep, so I went downstairs and was able to catch the very end of the game. I was so exited to so that final play!
Part of Baseball lore was that in the American League you had a team that seemed cursed in Boston and one in the National League in Chicago. It became a tradition. So if they had still not won a title, baseball would still retain some of its magic and allure and be better for it. But no more.
It’s hard to put my bias aside since I’m a cubs fan, but I feel like I would still consider this the greatest game of all time. Including everything that was at stake in this game
Yeah, you definitely need to put your bias aside. It ranks very high as far as world series games go, fairly high as far as postseason games, and pretty good as far as all times games go. Above average for sure, but not a real contender for greatest of ALL time.
I have a friend that I tailgate with for all of the football games at the University of Florida and he is a die hard fan of the Cubs and I’m sure he was extremely happy when the Cubs became world champions after 108 years of frustration
I was 6 year old Chicago fan who knew little about sports when this happened. I remember Kris Bryant’s last out, but now revisiting this for one of the first times in almost 8 years brings a chill down my spine.
No. As I explained to someone else above, it’s not even the greatest world series game, let alone game ALL time. It’s a great game, but you need to set your bias aside if you want to take about all time greatEST games.
No he wasn’t he threw Chapman in there on low rest and got burned luckily his offense gave him a break at least Tito wasn’t a dumbass manager because he is and will forever be the greatest manager a team will ever have and I love the Vogt led Guards which have a ton of fight
This game will forever haunt me even if Cleveland somehow wins it all as a Guards fan. Please let 2024 cure the pain from this game and I even care we made it to a game 7 of a World Series like I will never take pride in 2016 until we finally conquer them all
@@justinshugg3431 Oh 2001 was the best overall series. Without a doubt. It meant so much to this country and had three incredible contests in 4, 5 & 7. I didn’t watch because every game I watched in the playoffs that year the Cubs lost. Just remember hearing fireworks and know we did it. Took one for the team lmao
Someone please justify Joe Maddon's removing Kyle Hendricks when he did. Try to remove emotion or bias, and just present the cold, objective devil's advocate reason for it. If one exists, I can't see it.
