Sanding the gussets was a sound step. To the unpracticed eye, it appears superfluous, but it saves you from countless splinters during the handling of the parts. You were taught well. 👍🏻
It saves the tarps as well !
It was an essential step! As others have commented, it will help prevent the tarps from tearing as the wind affects them, and also prevent splinters.
And the splinters will damage the Tarp resulting in leaks.
Maya; I just realized how tall your dad is! He seems like a great guy. It’s also cool hearing Aladino giving kudos to Leo on Tally Ho, one talented craftsman to another. It seems that the pleasure of your dad working with your husband brings you real joy, I hear it in your voice. It’s good to hear the happiness in both of your voices.
The balance between A work and B work is a tuff one. It’s hard to be sloppy when you love craftsmanship

This episode brought back old memories of a lobsterboat restoration I did winter 2001 / 2002. I built a similar shed for my project. Here in Rhode Island we get heavy wet snow. Being a frugal New Englander, and a bit lazy by nature, I designed the shed to have minimal cutting ang measuring. All the lumber was stock size. Ridge pole was 1x4 ledger board 2x4s were rough sawn native lumber. Did I say I was cheap or frugal? 4mil clear plastic from Home Depot wrapped it up. 2 bundles of lathes secured the plastic. It was so warm in the shed we used no heat and hand to mow the grass all winter. Beleive it or not it took 4 guys 2 1/2 hours to put up. Labor cost was a 30 pack and 2 pizzas. They did it after work and finished before dark in early November 2001. I was amazed. Saturday of Mother's day weekend I disassembled the shed by myself. Stacked the wood and used it for projects over the next 5 years. I really enjoy watching you both bringing that boat back to life.
The shed skeleton looks great. Lots of room to stand on the deck of the boat to work under it. It's a good thing that coastal area doesn't get much snow. Welcome to Canada. I hope our government hasn't put any time restrictions on Aladino's residency.
Have been watching for several years now and it’s incredible to see how Alidino’s english has improved as well as how much more comfortable he is in front of a camera. Maya, your support of your husband is fantastic. What a very special couple.
Great work folks but before tarp day add diagonals (not hor or vert) to front and rear façade or the first gust will collapse your tent sideways. You might consider a few diagonals in the roof structure as well. Keep up the great work!

Well Shedd , Add a galvanized wire on each top corner linked to the ground foot of the opposite side in the big lenth and also on the side in front and the Back of the boat that the shedd stay square in the heavy wind .

Strong tarps a must with high winds and those largest roof gaps,from experience ,ours collapsed or ripped ,good for a short time and easy to replace ,good for you two,love it….

I had anticipated the sanding, no epoxy primer and 3 top coats though😄

Aladino is not a perfectionist he is swiss, which in my experience is a step up from perfectionism.
Loved the "sun dial" effect from the camera stand.
4:35 That means only sanding to 220 instead of finish sanding.
Love the new structure and make sure you anchor it well. The wind gusts can get nasty.

No way I can make it to Friday again. It was so much easier when I was so far behind and could watch your vids whenever I wanted to....even binge watch.....but now I am all caught up and have to wait til Friday like everyone else. Congrats on the boat shed......when you launch your boat I will bet you that the boat yard will at bare minimum cover your material cost to buy your shed. Its a win win in my opinion. I agree with one other poster....Aladino you have never said that you were tired before even after sanding for hours on end......so slow your roll a bit and dont burn yourself out chief. Good luck you guys!
Doing it perfectly the first time,usually means not doing it again.saves time in the long run. Triangle bracing in the gable end will help

This is a testament to Aladino's skill as a carpenter/wood worker/boat builder - no shortcuts!! Shortcuts are the solution for the unskilled. Can't imagine a musician being okay with missing a note here and there and then be happy with the tune.

Great job. Very similar sort of design to what I'm fixing to build around my project boat. Mines going be a bit beefier since my rotten old wooden ship is going to be a long term project. I still have to have it technically be a temporary structure in order to not run afoul of the municipal bureaucrats.
Aladino's ingenuity amazes me. He can so think out of the box, to create his vision. The two of you are amazing with how you tackle your projects and maintain a joy filled life. When erecting the framework you need to use the diagonal bracing as a means to assist you in holding your frames stable while you lift the next one 😊
Boat Shed looks like it should be sufficient Alidino. I got a kick out of you Maya when you said, " that wasn't an necessary but, He can't help himself," LOL I think your right Maya about that one. You guys crack me up, I can tell Maya you both really love one another and that's nice refreshing thing to see nowadays with all the hate in the world.
Aladino is a master craftsman, and understands that the sanding will prevent tears in the tarp, as well as splinters in hands! He also loves the charming Maya enough not to be disheartened by her uninformed gentle teasing. My respect for him grows, it is great that he is feeling comfortable enough with the camera now to let his quiet personality and obvious expertise shine through.

Nice streamlined 'nest' for your boat. I was mentally comparing it with The Duracell Project's palatial shed but there's really no comparison or need to do so. What you have created is more than adequate (weather permitting) and let you get it planned, provisioned for, and up in record time. Well done!

Great job. If you find you need to, you can provide intermediate roof support for your tarp with rope rather than wood for less money and easier.
This episode takes me back. My Dad and I built exactly the same type of shed over my 29 footer in my driveway out in Surrey back in 1981. She was a beautiful, slim, deep and racy little cedar on oak cutter which I did a complete refit on. You guys are doing a great job! Greetings from the Coast!

Loving the progress. You two were built for the camera. Just some friendly advice - when you tire of varnish try oiling your wood. It doesn’t consume the heaps of time varnishing does and wears well. Anyway, your boat shelter rocks.
True that! Tung oil is brilliant, I used it on my little blue water cutter. It is a plant based natural product that protects the wood, provides a beautiful finish, and is easy to maintain.

I learned that the hard way, believing I couldn't afford to build a cover.
It would have been so much less expensive to build the boat if I had built a cover.

Old sails make good translucent panels or total coverage material--and often are freebies, where they often end up in refuse burial. Good luck if you can find some.
Shed looks nice but watch out for those Vancouver wind storms.... they are wicked.
