if you want a lighter boot which shows the most patina the captain in natural is the only horween CLX leather before going to the slightly different and more expensive vanguards. My naturals are darker than they look on the website but still quite light. They do darken over time as well.
I keep seeing this everywhere. Darker than expected. I got mine too today and darker than I thought. That’s ok, because I liked tobacco too, but I was hoping they would show a little more patina. One thing I noticed is that they are VERY conditioned out of the box. They may lighten a bit over the coming months as they dry out before I condition them again.
your right I think they do get lighter as you use them but I think they are still on the darker side. ill be getting a lighter pair soon so we will see
@@davidv.895 I ended up wiping mine down a few times with a wet cloth and they dried much lighter. I think they come with extra residue from the dye where they were made.. Same though. I’m thinking of getting the burnt copper maybe in the next six months as a second pair. I want to wear these at least a few months before deciding.
the R&R leathers don't need conditioning. If you want them lighter especially don't condition them as this will darken them slightly to quite a bit depending on the conditioner cream.
Yo uare right, they look darker than the website. I've been trying to decide on a boot/color so searching youtube and found your video. i wonder if they lighten up after use?
I received mine last week and they were darker too. I wiped them with a wet rag a few times and they dried much lighter. I think they come with excess dye out of the box, but seems it wiped off.
