I have two K989's now. One set up for drift, and the other set up for racing. So much bang for your buck with those little guys! Yeah I had to go through the diffs to get them to run smooth, put the steering link on the outer hole of the servo horn, and fix a little binding in some of the A arms.
They run as smooth as a Z with a little tinkering.

I was recently introduced to mini z and immediately fell in love with it! I am currently building my 3rd 100% 3D printed car. learning as I go!

It takes up most of my living room, I didn't realize the size until assembled. You can also do three other track configurations besides this one, this seems to be the most popular set up.
It’s the one that fits on a 8x12 the best.
It's weird.. I just discovered these a few days ago and went down the rabbit hole on them and then one of my favorite RC RUclipsrs gets one! That's a hell of a coincidence.

If you move up to the full size 96 you’ll love it. I started out with the mini also.
I’d love to, but $700 is a lot to invest in a track, when I have zero mini z experience. Haha. We’ve done one pseudo race so far and love it.

That looks like a ton of fun, wish I had the space for one! Love your mini garage too haha. Did you put tape on the wheels of the FPV buggy, or are they just starting to wear down?
No tape. The wheels were just dirty. There’s plenty of life left in them. Remember, that thing is super light and doesn’t go that fast. The tires will last for a while, I bet.

Let your buds know about the rage RC mini q. It’s similar to the mini Zs in size but much cheaper for a simple starter vehicle.

That track is awesome. But it would be a lot more fun, I guarantee you, if you had cars with lower maximum speed and slicker tires if that's possible. It would get rid of the "toy" feel and make everything more like a real race, more scale - that will certainly trounce the slot car thing. Don't get me wrong slot cars are fun - when I was a kid my older bros had the big scale cars - about 6-8 inch long slot cars - way cool.

Race you for pink slips any day. I fly long range fpv but just got into 1:28 scale. Have a ma020 and the wltoys k989 like you. It is a monster to say the least some areas need loosened up and it could do with nicer bearings. Thinking about getting techstorm xrx next then probably a track due the tattoo shop. Are you in the midwest by chance?

Any beginner starter car and what too get with it
I’m not 100% sure what you’re asking me.
If you’re asking if it comes with a car, no. You get the track only.
If you’re asking about a starter car, you can get into a Mini Z for $129.
There are other 1/28 scale cars that you can find for even less than that, but I don’t have much experience with them.

the stock tires are HORRIBLE on the rcp tracks.. pick up some appropriate tires and you will stick the corners MUCH better!
Oh yeah. We buy out our LHS on tires whenever we can, so all the boys can have good tires.
