    It's really good to get to watch you on your natural element again Olivier! How are you my friend? I hope this message finds you well and healthier than when you ran MegaAvalanche. You always impress me with your raw pace...It's an absolutelly mega physical "show off" that you can put on. You're mighty and always fast. Seeing this, I wanted to ask you a question, if you don't mind. The last time we spoke I didn't yet have my Propain Tyee Cf 180/160mm in a complete form, only the Stumpjumper 160/150mm. It was still waiting for my mechanic to assemble it. As it turned out, only last friday the build was completed. It turned out a simply gorgeous enduro bike but I screwed heavilly with the dropper. Bought a Syncros Duncan 1.5S 180mm and apparently it is miles away from my natural pedaling distance- pedal to groin/saddle. It's a thing that Remy Metailler also heavilly complains about with his various Propains. I'm lucky if my Medium size frame allows my 171cm's a 140mm Syncros dropper...Wich is utterly disapointing. The other thing was, and here comes the question, the weight. I spent a LOT of money on carbon Olivier...It still came in at 14,74 kgs. Wich is a lot, for me anyway. I'm guessing you're not a small guy, do you pedal a Large Scott frame? How much does you bike weigh, "dry weight"? Just with an empty bottle cage and without pedals? Do you have that number?
    I'll be waiting to hear from you. As always, I wish you all the best, from Coimbra Portugal.

    • @olivierbruwiere
      @olivierbruwiere  3 месяца назад

      Hello! Thx for the question.
      I ride a Large frame. Every endurobike under 15kg is really light.
      The Genius is more of a trailbike. 150/160mm and olso one of the lightest frames. Stock it comes at 13.3kg. After my build with EXT fork and Coil, better tires,… I think its about 14.5kg.
      I have never known the exact weight. I don’t care to much. The Scott Ransom will be +15kg as well.

    • @luismartins9521
      @luismartins9521 3 месяца назад

      Always apreciate when you get the time to write back to me. You're one hell of a decent guy, Olivier, trully! And, aparently, a good friend to Liam Moynihan. Wich was utterly surprising! But, so are Roger Federer and Rafa Nadal and they spent 2 decades battling on court.
      And...I'm a bit perplexed by the numbers you've thrown at me...I already knew Scott made some of the best and lightest frames around but...a160/150 trail bike, large, at 13.3kgs?...Gulp...That's amazing, trully. I still think I got very lucky with my stumpy 160/150mm cause it has a set of aluminium mullet wheels from Newmen(I only use german Newmen wheels), no carbon handlebar or cranks and it came in at 13,57kgs. The carbon S3 size frame is decently light and so are the Lyrick Ultimate fork anf Fox Float Factory X2 shock. Which, for me was spot on and kept the cost of the bike, all bought piece for piece, at just under 5200€.
      I already altered the Propain Tyee. With a 160mm travel Syncros dropper and lighter Maxxis tyres, front and back, instead of the Schwalbe Magic Mary soft addix Gravity(wich in running order with fluid are over 1,5kgs each!!!) it came in at 13,97kgs. For a 180/160mm Enduro bike. Not bad! I can "live" with that. But I have to admit...I cheated with the Propain, big time...I put her with a set of Carbon XC Advanced SL X.A. Newmen wheels that only weigh 1325 grams the set...Lolol! But, unlike you, I don't compete, nor want to. No Megavalanche for me, with those gnarly rock gardens. Just want to have fun, in a responsible way. I'll be trying to look over those wheels cause they're a special edition that doesn't get made anymore. I'm going to take her home tomorrow after my mechanic finished the alterations on friday.
      A few weeks ago I wrote Liam about a race that you, him and one of your friends, Kjell, rode together and asked him if it was possible/preferable to ride such a race with one of the latest XC country bikes, a 120/120mm(those bikes are capable of so, so much already!), altered with good brakes and tires and be faster with such bike. I thought carrying arround 3kgs less would always lead to better times and agility. He didn't respond to that particular query but I now know that I was dead wrong. Recently a guy called Rich, from the Mountain Biking Global Network tested that theory with his two bikes on a enduro race he participated in. A slightly altered Orbea OIZ 120/120mm with enduro tires and then repeated all the stages with his 16kg enduro Rallon. He was so much faster with the enduro bike that I was completely stunned. The diference was staggering, for the enduro bike!
      I'll shut up now and, as always thank you for the opportunity to trade words with one of my biggest heros! Not that you would ever care but, there's only one other rider in this world I admire, even more than you. Danny Hart. That man is pratically a magician on top of his DH GT bike. What he does and how he does it has defied logic, to my eyes, for so, so long!
      All the best wishes from Coimbra, Portugal. Hope this very big letter finds you well and happy! Cheers!
