I honestly felt really unsettled throughout this video. Seeing "America's favourite family" members in scenes featuring a rape joke, visible self harm, and hyper-realistic gore is way more confronting to me than it would be in a standard Family Guy episode 😬
I'm a heathen and even I always have to skip past the rape line in this video. just imagining myself actually hearing that on the phone is so unpleasant it's so odd that this crossover ended up with stuff like this in it.

King of the Hill stayed true to the roots. That’s why it’s referred to as a Texas anime now. Simpson’s shoulda done the same
MeSaDrums king of the hill is nowhere near as popular or mainstream as The Simpsons though, so it was easier for it to stick to its roots.
lfcforever it was on the same comedy block as Family Guy and The Simpson’s on Fox. At one point it was just as popular, if not more since Simpson’s was into its 14th season or so and passed most of its best episodes.
MeSaDrums yeah but it’s not as memorable or iconic. Similarly to Bob’s Burgers, it’s one of those shows that was popular at one point, but when it lost relevance it just became totally irrelevant. Even though the new episodes of The Simpsons & Family Guy aren’t popular, every one remembers the classics and people still watch them to this day. I don’t ever hear anyone talk about King of the hill nowadays. I might be wrong though, I was never a big fan of King of the hill, but that’s what it seems like though.
lfcforever depends on your idea of irrelevant. King of the Hill has always remained popular cause it’s a great show and meme culture has kept it in high regards. I will say it’s being done a disservice by not being on any streaming platforms, but I have the blu-rays so I watch it like the office
MeSaDrums I mean irrelevant as in it’s not at all in the mainstream. I’m sure it still has a cult fan base that love it, but it’s not bringing in big viewing figures when it’s on.

With how the writers treat The Simpsons and Bob's Burgers, it really seems like at least a couple lead writers on the FG staff are really butthurt over other shows being better than them.
It just serves to demonstrate how incompatible Family Guy and the Simpsons' respective humor is together, while highlighting just how degraded Family Guy's own humor has become.
True, Stewie saying "your sister's been raped" with Bart in the room is so jarring and out of place. It's like hearing a paedophilia joke in Sonic the Hedgehog or a holocaust joke in Doctor Who.
Stuff like that just doesn't fit in the world of the Simpson's.

@NIP Ahh, thank you.
I think they should've started the episode with the Simpsons opening. Then at the end when the family goes to their couch, they are surprised to see the family guys sitting there instead.
That couch gag was actually official art for this crossover
That would’ve been funny
They did a couch gag just like that, but with the Flintstones
It's when sad when a fanmade Family Guy Simpsons theme song on RUclips has more effort then the actual Simpsons Guy episode.
Would've used less effort yet been more funny.
I don’t think I’ve actually heard someone say pwned since the late 2000s
The problem i have with this crossover is that, with the current direction of Family Guy of relying on shock humor WAY too much, this episode was doomed from the start because both series are way too diferent to even put them together, i don't hate the idea but it was badly executed. The Simpons in this episode act exactly like the Griffins, with one difference that Meg is equally bullied by fucking Lisa, a character that should at least encourage Meg.
If this were at least an episode of The Simpson, would it been acceptable (even though both shows are on the same pit) since they would use... what... no, i was right saying this crossover was doomed from the start.
Oh, and btw, Roger and Bob appear in this episode for no reason and for a couple of seconds, something minor but i love both of them.
I think this would have worked if was on during both shows prime
Pretty dire if the best part of a crossover is a cameo from two characters unrelated to both of those shows 😬

It's possible that Matt didn't care due to it techincally being a Family Guy episode, or had no say due to the same reason. I would imagine the suits at Fox would have final say.
What was he going to do, tell them they are fired if they do the show? I don't think he has much input in *The Simpsons* anymore and unlike Seth MacFarlane, he doesn't do the voices. Their career trajectories aren't even the same: Matt came from doing comics for alt-weeklies while Seth's whole career up to *Family Guy* was in animation.
It was different in 1995. Matt still had some say in his show and hadn't yet moved on to *Futurama.* Meanwhile, the creators of *The Critic,* Al Jean and Mike Reiss, were from *The Simpsons* only to come crawling back once it ended. Jean is responsible for the show calcifying into joylessly derivative unfunny desperation just because he has seniority.

What a terribly accurate quote
I don't understand how anyone can be as incredibly thin skinned as the Family Guy creators. I've never seen a show that's so obviously written by a bunch of insecure people who in their heart of hearts know their show isn't good, and thus completely lose it whenever rightfully criticized.
They act like if they shout that they're good loudly enough, that that'll actually make the show good, and if they make the pettiest of jabs at their critics, or better shows that people compare their mess of a cartoon to, that that somehow means they've won some kind of victory.
The Family guy apologists can be just as bad, getting pissed when someone gives criticisms to or a explanation of why he/she would dislike the show(at least the modern seasons, because it was so much better back then), and defend the worst episodes of the show (ie "Seashore seashell party", or "Screams of Silence") by saying that is a comedy and it should not be taken seriously.

“Maybe if we play really loudly, people will think we’re good”
@@alexschneider1667 That's the best show
@@PlahaKumar Nostalgic Family Guy fans are just as bad too, honestly.
They’re always going “Oh, Older Family Guy is so much better just because the characters were so much nicer.”
Honestly, I say the middle seasons of Family Guy before they became more modern were the best.
"Simp guy"
I can tell this guy really likes sonic music.
He just really likes sonic
Who doesn’t haha Sonic music slaps
Hey,
Atleast the Blue Haired Lawyer for ONCE actually side with the Simpsons.
tbh, him showing up was one of the only parts of this crossover i liked
I feel like the fight scene does do one thing good, despite its uncomfortable matter. It does a fairly decent job at using the world of the Simpsons. From Otto's bus to Krusty's show to the nuclear powerplant, it uses the location well. If only they toned down on the blood.
At least we get to see several different Springfield locations during the fighting scenes.
3:59 almost made me puke, I literally gagged.
So gross.

My Uncle: So kid, what are you in this family?
Me: *family SIMP*
Jimmy and Timmy: (Dabs on Family Guy)
Jimmy can't dab with that big head
That's cringe
1:45 You could say that Matt thought that...
It Stinks!
I will say this. It's funny that "Pawtucket" started as a ripoff of "Duff beer" because throughout my entire life "Duff beer" had degraded into "Pawtucket"
Saying the Family Guy is an inferior version of the Simpson does not seem like a valid argument anymore. Even when comparing their earlier seasons their little in common aside the roles. Sure there is a mother, father, three kids, and a dog, but each characters are vastly different from each other. Brian is more of a human being inside a dog instead of being a regular canine like Santa's Little Helper. Stewie is lightyears smarter than Maggie and he's either too evil to be a Bart ripoff or does not care to remotely do anything bad in the later seasons. Old Meg was a stereotypical teen girl and new Meg is a punching bag to the writers. Old Lisa was a slightly wacky but calm girl, and new Lisa is an activists. Neither of the two characters have the same characteristics. Lois and Marge could be similar to each other, but Lois seemed to become more "raunchy" and show less care and affection to her children (at least with Meg). Marge is still a conservative mother and immensely love all three of her children. Homer and Peter shared the most traits and stayed relatively consistent with each other. Although, Peter seem to have more freedom to do more ambitious, idiotic, life threatening, and unethical adventures compared to vanilla Homer.
Then there's the side characters which Family Guy has a much smaller and less fleshed out supporting characters in comparison to the Simpson. Sure the two shows have a police officer, mayor, bartender, family doctor, anchorman, and millionaire, but everyone can easily find three major differences between the each counterparts and know they are definitely not copies. In fact Springfield is more a living breathing town with actual people within the area instead of a setting that main characters interact with as seen in Quohog. Even if we limit the Simpson seasons to three-five season instead of the total thirty, it still feel like a real town.
With jokes, Family Guy uses more shock humor and rely on cutaways that are not relevant to a particular scene. Simpsons is more tamed and the relatively sparse cutaways are always relevant to the scene. Even an Itchy & Scratchy short is relevant as the characters are at least watching the show instead of making a simple joke or a recollection.
Saying Family Guy and the Simpsons are the same show is like saying a jaguar and a leopard are the same species. At first glance yes, but the differences become more obvious especially when looking at other areas such as location, natural habitats, behaviors, diets, and much more for these felines. And the same can be said to the shows with what I just stated.
I miss classic family guy, the first 3 seasons made me laugh the most
