- The GV70 is a luxury sport SUV from Genesis for 2024. On the outside you will notice chrome accents, white 6-piston calipers and 21in wheels. On the inside you will greeted by a full leather interior, 14in infotainment system and digital gauge cluster. Powering GV70 are two electric motors. Agree. But most companies rather make their EV looks as ridiculous as it can be. Too much gimmick. Seem like Genesis and BMW are the only 2 for now.

I like that overbite of the hood. It's unique. Everyone always complains about everything looking the same, but when a manufacturer does something different and unique, people crap all over it.

I've had a V6 GV70 for over two years and love it. I can assure Joe that I've given 0 Fs about the hood "overbite"! 🙂 Oh, and you can absolutely tell from the back that it's the electrified version as the gas version has that cris-cross black plastic pattern on the lower back side between exhausts while this one has body color paint.
236 miles isn’t enough I’m sorry. I have nothing against innovation or EVs. I just personally feel if a person doesn’t travel on the highway for long distances, then EVs work. Until EVs can get at least 500 miles on a single charge regardless of 2wd or 4wd and also regardless of temperatures. I’ll stick with gasoline power or even hybrid vehicles. I also feel there needs to be more charging stations around the US. For ever gas station there should also be charging booths at those stations with solar panels to power them as well.
Do you really think gas companies can be legally mandated to provide EV chargers on their properties? Most gas stations especially in smaller populated areas are franchise owned by second or third party owners.

If it becomes economically favorable for BOTH supplier & consumer the free market will work its magic and you’ll have plenty of charging stations.

I have the 3.5 version in matte green. Beat vehicle I've ever owned. 2+ years and 26k in. This EV is something I'd be interested in potentially trading up to.

That pick up in the electric version is incredible. You see it in EVs from the inside but that segment at 7:68 mark is just crazy. I have the 2.5t and it moves quick (did 95mph yesterday without even realizing it bc it's so smooth), but that electric torque is amazing. Love the car. Wish we can get that awesome interior with the 3 spoke white wheel in the ICE version. I'm not ready to deal with charging and range anxiety just yet.
Looks freaking beautiful all around. If only Lexus and Acura designers followed suit.

I have a regular engine GV70 and love it. I love the quality of the interior and exterior, and the price point. I live north, in Canada, and battery infrastructure just isn’t there to support electric if you live outside of a big city.
I live in BC Vancouver Island and I drive a GV60 we are very lucky here with Charging Chevron On The Run have free fast charging , I have not paid for any charging for 14 months 25K klm I went to Calgary and back all free , but Alberta is low on charging Calgary only has on free Chevron charger. I do believe its coming EV's are the way to go , I am a petrol head love cars but these EV's are really something and Genesis are leading the way.
You have to wonder how much it costs manufacturers to put in leather and stitching and how much extra they charge for it. Not to mention it's perceived value.

Already bought it. Range is an issue but for daily commute it’s not a big deal. It’s awesome. Boost mode is thrilling. Phenomenally quiet and aa smooth luxurious ride.

Initially I was never aware of the EV model. Was upside down in my G70, but loved the GV70 build. Moved into a 23 electrified and it’s the best car I have ever driven. Insanely comfortable and quiet it’d be really hard to find another car like this.
Took it out for a test drive yesterday we own a model Y this has such amazing feel behind it

A 13 second quarter, from 3.8 second 0-60, tells me it loses a lot of steam around 80 MPH

A nice review. I have the 2023 GV70e, purchased this past June. I love it. It is a wonderful vehicle. I especially like the regenerative braking. I usually leave it set at 75%. It's not quite as aggressive as the 100% / 1 pedal driving but I only have to use the brake at the last part of stopping as I approach a light or stop sign. As you mentioned, it is very quiet and rides very smoothly. I also like the fact that it looks normal; it doesn't scream "look at me, I'm electric". I live in Canada so have the made in Korea model. My only regret is that they dropped the Cardiff Green colour so I went with my 2nd choice, Uyuni White with the black interior.

Looks great! Odd that the back seats don't have ventilated seats (My 52k Telluride SX Prestige has ventilated and heated back seats) and this costs 22k more.

Joe, I agree. I think this vehicle could do without the over bite. I don't think it's doing the designers any favors.
If Genesis would get serious about their EVs and their business they would really gain some market share. This actually looks better than the ICE version.
And spider drongled aiming controls and a drongle switch when firing
I totally agree that the hood overbite and large rear gap on the hood shows poor fit and finish, but then the rear hatch has a very tight fit so I believe they have some issues at Genesis with mixed build quality. The 230 mile range is IMO on the low end for an SUV built as a luxury cruiser.
Yeah but look at the pre refresh Audi e Tron (before it became the Q8 etron) and the Lexus RZ, those have even less range
@@normanli7085 And GM EV pickups (Silverado and Sierra) have around 450 miles range and a company that makes car batteries for the Tesla model S makes one that gives it over 700+ miles range. They can have good long range batteries made for this Genesis (if they wanted to).
That hood overbite is one of the intended design elements.
Yes, it is designed that way, it isn't a quality issue. You may not like it but it is as it was designed.
Beautiful SUV but I'm not into the electric vehicles, I will stick with the gas motor engines I don't care if they're bad good on gas or what just my opinion, Keep up the good work love the reviews.

Incredible vehicle. EX30 is great alternative as well. I mean who would take this, NVH and power-wise, over the ancient ICE version?
I have a feeling you really do not like ICE powered vehicles.
@@RaitisRides Haha, one of my dream cars is a Hennessey Venom F5. But for the daily commuters, absolutely it's EV. It's just hard to go back to ICE after driving an EV. As for sports cars that are meant to be sports cars, they are gonna need to be reinvented because ICE just isn't keeping up.
great and beautiful, I have driven it in the Canadian winter at -40 degrees and it gives me a range of 380 kilometers, super and super powerful, definitely an excellent EV SUV option worth what it costs, I recommend it

Joe, you are so much fun to watch! I LOVE my GV70 (gas engine). To go to the EV version would be icing on the cake. I gotta say that EV's need to offer more premium NON-leather upholstery. For many drivers willing to go EV, both the environment AND animal rights are important. I know more premium brands are offering non-leather upholstery. Would be great to see Genesis do that too.

The Palisade is about $20,000 less expensive, and the mid row has heat & ventilated seats. I don't get it why this vehicle only has heated seats for rear passengers.
That's an electronic toy Genesis. Kids will ask Santa Claus for real electric cars to play around with them as electronic toy cars.
I know Genesis is the new Lexus of the moment and can't do know wrong I'm starting to see more of them around town

BMW is trouble free? Haha, good one. I have the ICE version and had two rear diffs replaced already (under warranty). I hope they solve this because I was planning to keep this for 15 years.

Nice but 75 grand is a lot of money . If it were around sixty grand It would be a lot more appealing . Plug in is OK but I think Hybrid is possibly better for the moment due to a variety of reasons, range being one of them . I think we need to wait around a decade before we see real performing long range vehicles and more charging stations across countries .

very low range. I dont understand what stops Genesis to bring the battery capacity to 90KW and get around 300 miles range? Without range improvement this will not make much impact

I absolutely love what Hyundai is doing. The problem is, that so does EVERY manufacturer out there. Hyundai literally can't keep any type of styling for themselves. We are now in a world where every mainstream vehicle now looks like a Hyundai either from the exterior, or interior. Haven't seen the new Camry yet to say what elements they copied, but pre 24, at least in the styling the Camry had its own looks. Even Cadillac copied the styling of the Palisade inside the Escalade. Actually Cadillac stole a lot from Hyundai. Which ig you think about it, thats pretty pitiful beings Cadillac has been around 50 years longer, and it took for Hyundai introducing the Palisade to force Caddy to finally make the Escalade a true Luxury full size SUV. I couldn't understand why people were paying those ridiculous prices for a Escalade before 2021. Shit Hyundai was making better Luxury vehicles in there first 3 years with Genesis ,than Cadillac, Acura, Infiniti and Lexus was and they been around decades longer
